Danfoss Electronic Unit for BD350GH Compressor
Model: 101N0710, 24V DC
General Description
The electronic unit is a single voltage device designed for 24V DC power supply systems. It operates with a maximum voltage of 31.5 V DC and a maximum ambient temperature of 55°C. The unit features built-in thermal protection that stops the compressor if the electronic unit temperature exceeds 100°C (212°F) on the PCB. It can be connected to a PC via the Danfoss One Wire/LIN Gateway communication interface for settings adjustments and data reading using the TOOL4COOL® software (sold separately).
Installation
Connect the terminal plug from the electronic unit to the compressor terminal (10). Mount the electronic unit on the compressor and secure it with the two screws (1).
Power Supply
The electronic unit must be connected directly to the battery poles (2), with the plus terminal to '+' and the minus terminal to '-'. The unit is protected against reverse battery connection. A fuse (3) is recommended in the '+' cable, close to the battery, for installation protection. A 30A fuse is recommended for 24V circuits. If a main switch (4) is used, it should be rated for a minimum of 50A. Observe the wire dimensions specified in Figure 2 to prevent voltage drop. Avoid extra junctions in the power supply system.

Battery Protection
The compressor stops and restarts based on the voltage limits measured at the '+' and '-' terminals of the electronic unit. Standard settings are shown in Figure 3, with other settings adjustable via the communication interface.
Voltage (0.1 steps) | Min. value | Default | Max. value | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Cut out | VDC | 19.0 | 21.1 | 27.0 |
Cut in diff. | VDC | 0.5 | 3.9 | 10.0 |
Thermostat
The thermostat connects between terminals C and T. Either an NTC (electrical thermostat) (8) or a mechanical thermostat (7) can be used. Three thermostat modes are available in the software: "Auto" (NTC and mechanical), "NTC", or "Mechanical". The default setting is "Auto". For NTC usage, it is recommended to set the mode to "NTC" to avoid NTC failures, with set points adjustable between -25°C and 40°C via the software.
Speed Selection
Compressor speed can be adjusted via the Danfoss One Wire/LIN Gateway communication interface (9). The factory default speed is 4,000 rpm when the thermostat is switched on. Other fixed speeds between 2,500 and 4,000 rpm are available through software settings.
Fan
An evaporator fan (6) can be connected between terminals '+' and 'Fe', and a condenser fan (5) between '+' and 'Fc'. Connect the positive to '+' and the negative to 'Fe' or 'Fc'. If both fans are used, software settings must be adapted, including voltage specification (12V or 24V). The factory default is no fans and 24V. The unit requires a restart after changing fan settings. If fans are used without software adaptation, they will run, but fan failure will not be reported. Start delays for fans can be set between 0-240 seconds (factory default: 6 sec. for evaporator fan, 0 sec. for condenser fan). Fan speed can be adjusted from 40-100% via the interface.
Operational Errors
Operational errors are recorded by the electronic unit and can be read out using the software. Error codes and their descriptions are provided below:
Error code | Error type |
---|---|
6 | Thermostat failure: If the NTC thermistor is short-circuit or has no connection, the electronic unit enters manual mode. |
5 | Thermal cut-out of electronic unit: Occurs if the refrigeration system is overloaded or the ambient temperature is high, causing the unit to overheat. |
4 | Minimum motor speed error: The motor cannot maintain minimum speed (approx. 1,850 rpm) if the refrigeration system is heavily loaded. |
3 | Motor start error: Indicates a blocked rotor or excessive differential pressure in the refrigeration system. |
2 | Fan over-current cut-out: The fan draws more than 1.8A from the electronic unit. |
1 | Battery protection cut-out: The voltage is outside the cut-out setting. |
Figure 4 illustrates the error codes.
Additional Information
Special supply cables (Molex type 42816-0212) can be ordered as accessories. A start delay of 2-240 seconds (factory setting 4 seconds) can be set after thermostat cut-in.
