This user manual provides essential information for the setup and operation of the Medisana BS 444 Body Analysis Scale. Please read it thoroughly before use.

Safety Instructions

⚠️ [Warning Symbol] These warnings must be followed to prevent possible injury to the user.

• This scale is not suitable for individuals with pacemakers or other medical implants.
• Body fat indication may be inaccurate for individuals with diabetes, other medical conditions, or those who are highly trained athletes.
• This device is not suitable for pregnant women.
• Any treatment or diet for overweight or underweight requires qualified advice from a specialist (doctor, dietician). The scale's values can serve as a supportive tool.
• Risk of tilting: Never place the scale on an uneven surface. Never step on just one corner. Avoid standing on the edge or one side while weighing.
• Danger of slipping: Never step onto the scale with wet feet or while wearing socks.
• Use the device only for its intended purpose as described in the user instructions. Misuse voids the warranty.
• The scale is designed for home use only and is not intended for commercial use in hospitals or other medical facilities.
• Do not use the device if it is not functioning correctly, if it has been dropped, fallen into water, or is damaged.
• The scale has a measuring range up to 180 kg / 396 lbs. Do not overload the scale.
• Place the scale on a firm, level surface. Soft or uneven surfaces are unsuitable for measurement and will lead to incorrect results.
• Place the scale in a location free from extreme temperatures and humidity.
• Keep the scale away from water.
• Handle the scale with care. Avoid shocks and vibrations. Do not drop it.
• Step onto the scale carefully. Do not hop or jump on the tread surface, as this may damage the weighing mechanism.
• Do not attempt to disassemble the device; this will void the warranty. The device contains no user-serviceable parts.
• Do not attempt to repair malfunctions yourself, as this will void the warranty. Repairs must only be performed by an authorized service center.

Battery Safety Instructions

• Do not disassemble batteries.
• Clean battery and device contacts before insertion if necessary.
• Remove depleted batteries from the device immediately.
• Increased risk of leakage: avoid contact with skin, eyes, and mucous membranes. In case of contact with battery acid, rinse the affected area immediately with plenty of clean water and consult a doctor.
• If a battery is swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
• Insert batteries correctly, observing polarity.
• Keep the battery compartment securely closed.
• Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period.
• Keep batteries out of reach of children.
• Do not recharge batteries; risk of explosion.
• Do not short-circuit; risk of explosion.
• Do not throw into fire; risk of explosion.
• Store unused batteries in their packaging and away from metal objects to prevent short circuits.

First, check if the device is complete and undamaged. If in doubt, do not operate the device and contact your service center.

Requirements for Correct Measurement Results

• Always weigh yourself under the same conditions.
• Measure at the same time of day.
• Stand upright and calm.
• It is best to measure in the morning, after showering or bathing, with dry feet.

Consistent measurements allow for reliable tracking of body weight development.

Scale Initialization

Ensure the scale is on a firm and level surface. If you have moved the scale immediately before weighing, you must initialize it first. Briefly press the center of the scale surface with your foot. The display will show "0.0". When the scale turns off, it is ready for the "step-on" function. If the scale was not moved beforehand, this step is omitted.

Connecting to the VitaDock+ App

Download the VitaDock+ app free from the AppStore or Google Play Store. Activate Bluetooth® on your iOS or Android device. Start the app. Log in with your VitaDock online account. If you don't have an account, register for free at VitaDock Online. Tap the Bluetooth® icon to go to device selection. Scroll down until the scale appears in the device list. Tap the arrow next to the image to start the setup process.

Prerequisites:

• Bluetooth is activated on your Android or iOS device.
• The VitaDock+ App is started.
• The scale is already listed in the app's device list.

Setup is described in the "Connecting to the VitaDock+ App" section.

* Body analysis data and weight history are not transmitted or created in this mode.

Simple Weighing

1. Step onto the scale and stand still. The device automatically switches on.
2. Your weight is measured, flashes twice, and then displays constantly.
3. Step down from the scale.

Body Analysis

The scale can store data for 8 persons: gender, age, height.

1. Briefly press the center of the scale surface with your foot. The display shows "0.0 kg".
2. Long press the SET button (2). The memory location flashes on the display.
3. Now, by pressing button 1 [Up Arrow] or button 3 [Down Arrow], you can select the desired memory location for your user profile (0-8).

Note: If you use the scale in guest mode "P0", no data is stored. Data transmission via Bluetooth® is not possible in this mode.

4. Press the SET button (2) to save the setting.
5. Continue to set gender, athlete mode, height, and age.
6. After setting your personal data, "0.0" is displayed.
7. To finish scale settings, simply stand barefoot on the scale.
8. The display shows the following measured values:
   • Weight
   • Body fat percentage
   • Body water percentage
   • Muscle mass percentage
   • Bone weight
   • BMR (Calorie requirement)
   • BMI

Once a complete measurement is taken, the data is transferred to the VitaDock+ App via Bluetooth.

Automatic User Selection

Stand barefoot on the scale. The scale automatically selects your storage space and starts a new measurement. If the correct storage space is not displayed automatically, use buttons 1 [Up Arrow] or 3 [Down Arrow] to select the correct number (P1 to P8) and confirm with the SET button (2).

Changing Weight Unit

Briefly press the center of the scale surface with your foot. The display shows "0.0". You can now select the desired unit (kg - lb - st) using the button on the back of the scale.

Error Messages

• ----: The scale is overloaded.
• LO: The battery is weak and needs to be replaced.
• ERR2: No body analysis values can be determined.
• P1P2 or other memory combinations: The scale recognizes users based on weight. If two users have similar weights, press the Up button [Up Arrow] for the left value (e.g., "P1") and the Down button [Down Arrow] for the right value (e.g., "P2") to select the correct user.

If the scale does not function as expected, check the following before contacting service:

• Ensure the battery is inserted correctly.
• Ensure the correct weight unit is selected.
• Ensure the scale is on a firm, level surface, not touching any walls or objects.
• Repeat the weighing process.

Cleaning and Care

Never use aggressive cleaning agents or stiff brushes. Clean the scale only with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Never use harsh detergents or alcohol. Ensure no water enters the device. Only use the device again once it is completely dry.

Disposal Instructions

This device must not be disposed of with household waste. Metals are recyclable. Dispose of the device at a local collection point for environmentally friendly disposal. Contact your local authority or retailer for disposal procedures. Remove batteries before disposal. Do not dispose of used batteries in household waste; use special waste or battery collection points.

Warranty and Repair Conditions

For warranty claims, please contact your specialist shop or the service center directly. If you need to return the device, please state the defect and enclose a copy of the purchase receipt. The following warranty conditions apply:

1. All Medisana products are guaranteed for 3 years from the date of purchase. The date of sale must be proven by the purchase receipt or invoice.
2. Defects due to material or manufacturing errors will be repaired free of charge within the warranty period.
3. Warranty service does not extend the warranty period for the equipment or replacement parts.
4. The warranty excludes:
   • Any damage caused by improper handling, e.g., by non-observance of the instruction manual.
   • Damage due to repair or intervention by the purchaser or unauthorized third parties.
   • Transport damage that occurred en route from the manufacturer to the consumer or during shipment to the service center.
   • Spare parts subject to normal wear and tear, such as batteries, etc.
5. Liability for direct or indirect consequential damages caused by the device is also excluded, even if damage to the device is recognized as a warranty case.
