FXLuminaire Luxor Quick Start Guide
The Luxor lighting controller manages groups of lights and light intensity at desired times. Two-wire connections power and communicate with all lights in a system.
Controller Overview
The Luxor lighting controller features several key components:
- 1. Facepack: The primary user interface.
- 2. LCD screen: Displays system status and options.
- 3. Clickable scroll wheel: Used for navigating menus and making selections.
- 4. Home button: Returns to the main menu.
- 5. Back button: Navigates to the previous screen.
- 6. Fixture assignment ports: Connects lighting fixtures to the controller.
- 7. Core cover: Encloses the main controller components.
- 8. Chassis: The structural housing of the controller.
- 9. Facepack connection: Connects the facepack to the chassis.
- 10. Chassis LED: An indicator light for the chassis status.
- 11. Terminal blocks: Used for electrical wiring connections.
- 12. Fuse cover: Protects the internal fuse.
Controller Setup
- From the Home screen, select the "Setup" option.
- Enter the current Month, Day, Year, and Time (Hour, Minutes, Seconds). Then select "Auto" to set the time automatically.
- Select your desired Language for the interface.
The Setup screen displays fields for date, time, location, Wi-Fi, firmware, language, and system settings.
Location Setup
- From the Setup screen, select "Location".
- Select your geographical Region.
- Manually enter or select your Map coordinates (Latitude/Longitude). Use the scroll wheel to navigate and adjust values for up/down and left/right positioning.
Note: Selecting a region automatically updates the time zone and longitude/latitude settings.
The Location screen allows selection of Region, Time Zone, and manual input or adjustment of Latitude and Longitude.
Wireless Control
The Luxor system supports wireless control through two options:
- Option A: LAN connection
- Option B: Wi-Fi module
A. LAN Connection
- Install a network cable into the LAN connector located on the back side of the Luxor facepack.
- Navigate to "Setup" from the Home screen.
- Select the "LAN" option.
- Verify that the LAN field displays "Connected" to confirm a successful connection.
The LAN Setup screen shows connection status, IP Address, MAC Address, and Serial Number.
B. Wi-Fi Module
- Install the WIFIMOD2 or WIFIMOD2RMT module into the Wi-Fi connector on the back of the Luxor facepack.
- Select "Setup" from the Home screen.
- Select the "Wi-Fi" option.
- Scroll to the "Network" field and press the scroll wheel.
- Choose your desired network from the list of available networks.
- If prompted, enter your network password and press "OK".
- Confirm that the Wi-Fi field displays "Connected."
The Wi-Fi Networks screen lists available networks with their security type and signal strength (RSSI). The Wi-Fi Password screen prompts for network credentials. The Wi-Fi Setup screen confirms connection status.
Fixture Assignment
To assign fixtures, insert stripped wire leads into the assignment ports located on the front of the Luxor controller facepack.
Select your desired group and press "Program". If the assignment is unsuccessful, press "Program" again.
The Assignment screen allows selection of a group and initiation of the programming process.
Colors
- From the Home screen, select "Color".
- Scroll to your desired color label, ranging from C1 to C250.
- Scroll to the "Color" field. Press the scroll wheel to access the Color Selector screen and choose a color.
- Scroll to the "Test Grp" field and select a group to test the chosen color.
The Color screen displays fields for Label, Color, Hue, Saturation, and Test Group, along with an Erase option. The Color Selector screen provides a visual interface for choosing colors via hue and saturation.
Themes
- From the Home screen, select "Theme".
- Select your desired theme letter, from A to AN.
- Configure your desired Group(s), Color, and Intensities for the theme.
- Press "Test" to temporarily activate the selected Theme and preview its effect.
The Themes screen allows selection and configuration of themes, including associated groups, colors, and intensity levels.
Programs
- From the Home screen, select "Program".
- Select your desired Program, from A to G.
- In the "Event" field, enter the desired event type, such as Sunset, Sunrise, or a specific Time.
- In the "Time" field, specify the time for the event to occur.
- Enter the Group or Theme to be activated during the event.
- For Group events, select the Color if applicable.
- Enter the desired intensity in the "%" field. Group events can range from 1% to 100%, while Themes can be set to ON/OFF.
The Programs screen is used to schedule lighting events based on time or astronomical triggers, assigning specific groups or themes with defined intensities.
Best practice: To ensure all lights are turned off at the end of a cycle, set the last event in the Grp/Thm field to "ALL LIGHTS" and the % field to OFF.
Color Wheel
- From the Color screen, select "Color Wheel".
- Scroll to your desired Color Wheel label, ranging from CW1 to CW10.
- Select "Start Color". Any color (C1-C250) can be used as the initial color for the cycle.
- Set your desired time interval, from 5 seconds to 300 seconds, for the Color Wheel cycle. Shorter durations result in faster color transitions.
The Color Wheel screen allows configuration of color cycling effects, including the starting color and the duration of each color phase.
