Radioddity HF-008 Quick Guide
The antenna comes with:
- Part 1: Black part (with 9 holes for plugging in the jumper cable) with silver colored body (total mechanical length 67 cm / 26.4 in)
- Part 2: Long (L) top radial with a variable active length between 46.5 cm / 18.3 in and 77.5 cm / 30.5 in
- Part 3: Short (S) top radial with a variable active length between 25.5 cm / 10 in and 56 cm / 22 in
- Part 4: Silver extension radial (fixed length of 31.7 cm / 12.5 in)
- Part 5: Jumper cable for use with black part
- Part 6: 2mm Allen-key (required to move the fixing part of the S and L top radial)
Antenna Setup Guide
The following table shows how to set the length of the short (S) / long (L) radial:
f [MHz] | λ [m] | Band | Jumper | Which top radial to use | Visible length of top radial (without the extension and without the black part) | Total silver radial length (extension plus top radial) |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
3.56 | 84.21 | 80 | no | S | 42cm / 1.4ft | 73.7cm / 2.4ft |
7.05 | 42.52 | 40 | 2 | S | 31cm / 1.0ft | 62.7cm / 2.1ft |
10.10 | 29.68 | 30 | 3 | S | 31cm / 1.0ft | 62.7cm / 2.1ft |
14.00 | 21.41 | 20 | 4 | S | 44cm / 1.4ft | 75.7cm / 2.5ft |
18.00 | 16.66 | 17 | 5 | L | 54cm / 1.8ft | 85.7cm / 2.8ft |
21.10 | 14.21 | 15 | 6 | S/L | 46.5cm / 1.5ft | 78.2cm / 2.6ft |
24.90 | 12.04 | 12 | 7 | S | 41.5cm / 1.4ft | 73.2cm / 2.4ft |
27.00 | 11.10 | 11 | 8 | S | 41cm / 1.3ft | 72.7cm / 2.4ft |
29.00 | 10.34 | 10 | 8 | S | 26.5cm / 0.9ft | 58.2cm / 1.9ft |
50.00 | 6.00 | 6 | 9 | S | 25.5cm / 0.8ft | 57.2cm / 1.9ft |
How to setup the antenna for use of a specific band:
- Select the listed top radial according to the frequency you plan to use.
- Mount the top radial into the extension radial.
- Mount the extension radial onto the black part.
- Release the grub-screw of the fixing part (just a little turn counterclockwise) to align the length of the top radial.
- Tighten the grub screw of the fixing part (by turning the grub screw clockwise).
- If required, plug in the patch cable accordingly. One side of the patch cable is always (except for 80m band) plugged into hole 1.
