Installation and Connections
Dimensions and Fixing
The module has a compact design with specific fixing requirements. Key dimensions include:
- Overall dimensions are approximately 56mm (height) x 43mm (width) x 26mm (depth).
- M5 Power Terminals are located at the top.
- Fixing centres are 48mm apart, with 2 x 4.5mm holes for mounting.
- M3 Input Terminals are located below the power terminals.
- An end view shows the terminal layout.
Wiring and Connections
The module features clearly marked terminals for connection:
- Output Terminals: L (Line) and N (Neutral) for the load.
- Input Terminals: L (Line) and N (Neutral) for the 240V AC input.
- Ramp Speed Adjustment: A control labeled "RAMP SPEED" allows adjustment by turning clockwise.
- Pedestal Adjustment: A control labeled "PEDESTAL" allows adjustment.
- Optional Capacitor: A terminal for an optional capacitor is indicated.
- SCR Fuse: A space for an SCR fuse (not supplied) is shown.
Important Warnings and Requirements
- WARNING LIVE TERMINALS: Ensure mains power is switched OFF before commencing any servicing work.
- EARTHING: The unit must be earthed.
- FIXING REQUIREMENTS: For 25A operation, the unit must be fastened to a heatsink rated at 1.3°C per Watt at an ambient temperature of 35°C. The heatsink must be earthed using a 4mm screw or bolt, ensuring good metal-to-metal contact between the module's base and the heatsink. Heatsink paste is essential for proper thermal transfer.
Thermal Data and Heatsink Selection
The document includes thermal data illustrating the relationship between heatsink thermal resistance and maximum load current. It provides examples of suitable heatsinks for panel mounting, such as:
- 70 x 70 x 3 mm Aluminium with 8°C/W thermal resistance.
- 100 x 100 x 3 mm Aluminium with 4°C/W thermal resistance.
- 170 x 170 x 3 mm Aluminium with 2°C/W thermal resistance.
For operation at 25A, a heatsink with a thermal resistance below 1°C/W will be required (refer to optional extras).
Recommendations
Fusing
It is recommended to use semiconductor (fast acting) type fuses or circuit breakers (Semiconductor - MCB) for unit protection. On initial switch-on, some loads may require an increased Factor of Safety (F of S) for unit and/or device protection. Refer to the SRA datasheet for further information.
