This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing your Frigidaire dishwasher. Please read all safety precautions before beginning.

1. Before You Begin

  • Read and observe all CAUTIONS and WARNINGS.
  • Ensure you have the necessary tools and parts.
  • Understand potential hazards associated with electricity, water, and moving parts.
  • WARNING: Electric Shock Hazard - Switch off the circuit breaker before installation.

2. Preparing for Installation

  • WARNING: Do not install indoors where temperatures may fall below freezing (32°F / 0°C).
  • WARNING: Tip Over Hazard - Do not use until completely installed. Do not push down or place excessive weight on the open door.
  • WARNING: Electric Shock Hazard - Electrically ground the dishwasher. Do not use an extension cord.
  • Ensure the location has proper drain, water, and electrical outlets.
  • Do not install under a cooktop range.
  • Allow at least 2 inches (50 mm) side clearance in corners for door opening.
  • The floor must be solid and able to support the weight.
  • The location must be near a sink with easy access to utilities.
  • Ensure sufficient space for door opening and cabinet clearance (at least 0.1 in / 2 mm).
  • The back wall of the enclosure must be free of obstructions.
  • Remove any carpet from the area to provide motor clearance.
  • WARNING: Fire Hazard - Do not install on carpet.

3. Roughing In

  • New Installation: Most work must be done before moving the dishwasher into place.
  • Replacement: Check existing connections for compatibility.
  • Ensure the location has the right drain, water, and electrical outlets.
  • IMPORTANT: If placing in a corner, allow at least 2 inches side clearance.
  • The location must have a solid floor.
  • The location must be near a sink with easy access to utilities.
  • The dishwasher must be installed within 9.8 ft (3 m) of the sink.
  • Ensure enough space for the door to open easily and provide clearance between the dishwasher and cabinets.
  • The back wall of the enclosure must be free of obstructions.
  • Remove carpet from the area.
  • Preparing Electrical Line Connection:
    • WARNING: Electric Shock Hazard - Ensure electrical service conforms to all codes and ordinances.
    • Direct connections require specific wiring and strain relief methods.
  • Materials and Tools: List of supplied and needed parts and tools.
  • IMPORTANT: Do not use plastic tubing for water supply. Use copper tubing or a flexible stainless steel braided line.
  • IMPORTANT: Rough-in drain, water, and electrical lines before proceeding.
  • For new installations, cut a hole in the cabinet side for water line, drain hose, and power cables.
  • If the base inside the sink cabinet is raised, make a hole in the base and cabinet side.

4. Connections (Water and Electrical)

  • WARNING: Electric Shock Hazard - Observe all local codes and ordinances. Electrical and plumbing work should be performed by qualified persons.
  • Preparing Hot Water Line Connection:
    • Hot water supply line pressure must be between 20 psi-120 psi (0.14 MPa-0.82 MPa).
    • Adjust water heater to deliver water between 120°F (49°C)-135°F (57.2°C).
    • Turn OFF water supply valve.
    • Seal hot water supply line connections using Teflon tape or sealing compound.
    • Connect the 90° elbow joint to the inlet valve.
    • CAUTION: Do not overtighten the 90° elbow.
  • Preparing Electrical Line Connection:
    • WARNING: Electric Shock Hazard - Ensure electrical service conforms to codes.
    • Use appropriate wiring and strain relief methods.

5. Unpacking and Inspection

  • Unpack in an open area. Retain carton and packing materials until installation is complete.
  • WARNING: Always lift the dishwasher to move it.
  • Inspect all components for damage.
  • IMPORTANT: Do not remove sound-absorbent padding.
  • Leave internal packing in place until installed.
  • Mechanical Inspection: Check plastic base, feet, visible components, door latch, and hinges.
  • Plumbing Inspection: Check hot water connection, brake and sensor cases, and drain hose for damage.
  • Electrical Inspection: Confirm junction box cover is secured and the electrical box is undamaged and secured.
  • Visual Inspection: Check for dents, scratches, and proper control panel function.

6. Installing the Dishwasher

  • WARNING: Electric Shock Hazard - Disconnect electrical power before installation.
  • Ensure the circuit breaker and water supply valve are off.
  • Check for kinks in the water hose.
  • Remove the junction box cover and install the strain relief.
  • Securing the Dishwasher:
    • IMPORTANT: Make sure the tub is not distorted by screw pressure.
    • Fix the dishwasher to the countertop or cabinet side walls for stability.
    • Securing to Countertop: Place a towel inside, attach installation brackets, drill pilot holes, and secure with screws.
    • Securing to Side Cabinets: Place a towel inside, remove adjustment caps, attach installation brackets, and secure with screws.

7. Leveling the Dishwasher

  • IMPORTANT: Dishwasher must be level for proper operation.
  • Open the door and use a level to check side-to-side and front-to-back leveling.
  • Adjust the front and rear legs as needed.
  • Check if the door hits the tub and adjust front leveling legs.
  • WARNING: Do not place the dishwasher on the water supply line, drain hose, or power cable.
  • Adjust the four leveling legs.
  • Place the dishwasher so the power cable is in the center channel. Secure the cable to prevent pinching.

  • WARNING: Be careful when cutting the drain hose. Clean around the sink drain connection. Remove foreign items from the hose. Ensure the hose is not cut or torn by sharp edges.
  • IMPORTANT: Do not damage the drain hose during installation. Do not cut the wrinkled area.
  • The molded end of the drain hose fits 5/8”, 3/4”, or 1” diameter connections. Cut on the marked line as required.
  • Slide a hose clamp over the end of the drain hose and attach to the sink connector. Tighten the clamp.
  • NOTE: A hose clamp must be used to prevent leaks.
  • Secure the drain hose to the sink wall using cable ties.
  • If no air gap, hang the middle of the drain hose above the sink cabinet base to prevent backflow.
  • When drilling a hole for the drain hose, protect the hose from sharp edges using sandpaper or insulation tape.

10. Wiring Connections

  • WARNING: Connect wires of the same color: BLACK to BLACK, WHITE to WHITE, GREEN to GREEN.
  • Ensure the circuit breaker is OFF before connecting the power cable.
  • Locate the three power wires in the junction box.
