Battery Disposal and Safety

WARNING: Please dispose of old or defective batteries in an environmentally safe way and in accordance with your local laws and regulations.

Battery Safety: Clean battery contacts and device contacts before installation. Remove batteries from equipment not used for extended periods. Follow polarity diagrams. Promptly remove dead batteries. Dispose of used batteries properly. Use only recommended battery types. Do not incinerate, dispose of in fire, mix old/new batteries or types, use rechargeable batteries, recharge non-rechargeable batteries, or short-circuit terminals.

Operation

Power On/Off

Press the power button [⏻] to turn the detector ON. The display will show "PLEASE WAIT" during automatic calibration. Once complete, "LISTENING.." will display. Press and hold the power button [⏻] for 3 seconds to turn the detector OFF.

Indoor & Outdoor Modes

Outdoor mode is the default. Indoor Mode optimizes performance by reducing sensitivity to interference. To select indoor mode, press and hold the [LIGHT] and [POWER] buttons for 2 seconds until a beep is heard. The display will show "INDOOR". The detector returns to outdoor mode when powered off.

Lightning Detected

The device detects cloud-to-cloud, cloud-to-ground, and intra-cloud lightning. When detected, the device emits two beeps ? and the red LED flashes ?. The display shows "STRIKES DETECTED!", a running count, and the estimated distance to the storm front. Alerts repeat every 5 seconds until 30 minutes of inactivity. The count resets when the device is powered off.

False Detection

The detector uses advanced technology to distinguish lightning from interference. In rare cases, interference may cause a "false detect." If this occurs, verify there is no lightning in the area, then relocate the detector. If false detections persist, identify and relocate the source of interference or relocate the detector.

Silencing Audio Alerts

Audio alerts ? are enabled by default. They can be temporarily silenced for up to 60 minutes. To silence, press and hold the [LIGHT] button for 5 seconds; the display will show "MUTED". Visual alerts (LED and display messages) remain active. If a strike occurs while muted, the display will show "STRIKES DETECTED! MUTED" along with visual indicators. Audio alerts will re-enable automatically after 60 minutes or when the [LIGHT] button is held for 5 seconds again (displaying "SOUND ON").

Interference

The detector has enhanced interference rejection to prevent false lightning detection. If interference prevents detection, the detector sounds a single beep and displays "UNABLE TO DETECT...PLEASE RELOCATE." Use the detector at least 3 feet (0.9 m) away from potential interference sources, including:

WARNING: Take shelter IMMEDIATELY when lightning is present, regardless of whether it has been detected. Do not rely solely on this Lightning Detector for warnings about potentially deadly lightning strikes or severe weather conditions.
