Installation Instructions: RXRF-AGB1 Motorized Damper

Installation Instructions: RXRF-AGB1 Motorized Damper (nonDDC)

Step 1: Inspection and Contents Check

Immediately upon receipt, inspect all cartons and contents for transit damage. Open cartons with damage immediately, noting it on delivery papers and filing a claim with the carrier. Compare carton contents to the PACKAGE CONTENTS List (Table 1) to identify any missing items.

Table 1 - Package Contents
ITEMDESCRIPTIONQTY
1Outside air damper with actuator1
2Hood Top1
3Hood left side1
4Hood right side1
5Hood divider A/B1/1
6Hood front bracket1
7Permanent water entrainment filter 21.188" x 17.125" x 1"6
8Hardware bag -(22) 1/2" #10 SMS Screws, I & O Manual, (1) Zip tie1
9Hood Hardware bag - (26) 5/8" #10 TEK Screws1

Step 2: Panel Removal

Remove the HORIZONTAL RETURN COVER and LOWER PANEL from the unit. Retain all screws. (Refer to Figure 1 for visual guidance).

Step 3: Damper Installation

Install the 2-position damper into the unit. Secure the damper using the top hole of the two-hole pattern on both the left and right sides with the supplied screws. (Refer to Figure 1).

Step 4: Wiring Connections

Disconnect the jumper plug (PL7) from the economizer harness in the HVAC unit. Connect the unit's 12-pin ECONOMIZER PLUG (PL34) to the 2-position damper's mating plug (PL8). If a field-installed smoke detector kit is not used, reinstall the jumper plug (PL7) into the alternative 12-pin plug on the damper (this plug has only 3 wires). If a smoke detector is installed, attach the jumper plug to its harness with the provided zip tie for future troubleshooting. Follow the smoke detector kit's instructions for installation. (Refer to Figure 3).

Step 5: Hood Assembly - Sides and Top

Assemble the Hood. Attach the left and right hood sides to the Hood Top mounting flange on the inside of the panel. Secure them using the supplied screws through the pre-punched holes. (Refer to Figure 4).

Figure 4: Exploded view of hood assembly components: 'Hood Top', 'Filter', 'Hood Side', 'Hood Divider A/B', 'Hood Bottom Bracket'. Shows assembly order and filter placement.

Step 6: Hood Assembly - Divider and Bracket

Assemble the hood divider A/B between the left and right hood sides using supplied screws, as shown in Figure 4. Attach the Hood Bottom Bracket between the left and right hood sides using supplied screws.

Step 7: Filter Installation

Insert the permanent filter into the hood. The hood divider and hood bottom bracket will support the filter. Spring filter clips are provided to help secure the filters. (Refer to Figure 4).

Step 8: Mount Hood Assembly

Mount the assembled hood onto the RTU, positioning it over the 2-position damper. (Refer to Figure 2).

Figure 2: Assembled hood placement over the damper. Labels: 'Damper Hood', 'Aluminum Filters'.

Step 9: Adjust Actuator Rotation Limit

The 2-position damper actuator allows for adjustable mechanical rotation to set the maximum opening position. Remove the clip from the actuator shaft that secures the mechanical stop. Adjust the mechanical stop to the desired maximum opening position, then reinsert the clip to secure it. (Refer to Figure 5).

Figure 5: Detailed view of the '2 Position Damper' and 'Damper Actuator', showing the 'Adjustable Rotation limit on side of Actuator'.

Step 10: Unit Startup Check

Upon unit startup, verify that the 2-position damper opens correctly when the indoor fan is activated.

Wiring Diagram

The '2 Position Non-DDC Wiring Diagram' illustrates the connections between PL40 (labeled with pins 1-12 and wire colors like R, BR, R/W, PR/W) and PL8 (labeled 1-12), which then connects to the actuator. The diagram shows specific wire assignments for the actuator.
