Slide-In Electric Range Owner's Manual
This manual provides essential information for the safe operation and maintenance of your slide-in electric range. Please read all instructions carefully before use.
Range Safety
Your safety and the safety of others are paramount. Always read and obey all safety messages. The safety alert symbol (▲) indicates potential hazards that can cause death or serious injury. Safety messages are accompanied by the words "DANGER" or "WARNING" and describe the hazard, how to reduce risk, and potential consequences of not following instructions.
Tip Over Hazard: The range can tip if excessive force or weight is applied to the open door without the anti-tip bracket properly installed. Ensure the anti-tip bracket is securely installed to prevent tipping, which can cause serious injury or death.
- Never leave children unattended in the area where the appliance is in use.
- Do not allow children to sit or stand on any part of the appliance.
- Wear appropriate apparel; avoid loose-fitting or hanging garments.
- Do not store flammable materials in or on the appliance.
- Use caution when handling hot surfaces; use dry potholders.
- Never use water on grease fires; use a dry chemical or foam extinguisher.
- Ensure proper pan size is used for surface units.
- Never leave surface units unattended at high heat settings.
- Do not use aluminum foil to line oven bottoms or drip bowls unless specified in the manual.
- Do not cook on a broken cooktop.
- Exercise caution when cleaning hot surfaces to avoid steam burns.
For Self-Cleaning Ranges: Do not leave food or utensils in the oven during the self-cleaning cycle. Do not clean the door gasket. Do not use oven cleaners or protective coatings in the oven. Clean only parts listed in the manual.
For Smart Enabled Ranges: Do not store flammable or temperature-sensitive items near the appliance's surface units.
Range Maintenance and Care
Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure optimal performance and longevity of your range.
Clean Cycle (AquaLift® Technology)
AquaLift® Technology uses heat and water to release baked-on spills. To use:
- Ensure the oven has cooled to room temperature.
- Remove all racks and accessories; wipe away excess soil.
- Pour 2 cups (16 oz / 500 mL) of distilled or filtered water into the bottom of the empty oven and close the door.
- Press CLEAN or AQUALIFT SELF CLEAN, then START.
- Allow 40 minutes for cleaning and cool-down.
- Remove residual water and loosened soils with a sponge or cloth.
- For stubborn soils, use a non-scratch scrubbing sponge or plastic scraper. Additional Clean cycles may be necessary.
Important Notes: Ensure the range is level for proper cleaning. Use distilled or filtered water for best results. Affresh® cleaners can be used for tougher stains.
General Cleaning
- Clean exterior porcelain enamel surfaces with a glass cleaner, mild liquid cleaner, or nonabrasive pad.
- For stainless steel surfaces, rub in the direction of the grain using a stainless steel cleaner. Avoid abrasive cleaners and scouring pads.
- For ceramic glass cooktops, remove residue with a cooktop scraper while warm (not hot). Apply cooktop cleaner, let it haze, then polish with a dry cloth.
- Clean cooktop controls and control panel with a soft cloth and glass cleaner. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
- Clean oven racks with a steel-wool pad. Lightly oiling rack guides can help them slide.
- Clean storage, warming, or baking drawers with mild detergent.
- Clean the oven cavity using the Clean cycle or as needed with mild detergent and water when cool. Avoid oven cleaners.
Installation Instructions
Requirements
Gather all necessary tools and parts before starting installation. Tools typically include a tape measure, screwdrivers, level, hammer, drill, and wrenches. Ensure all supplied parts are present, including the anti-tip bracket.
Location Requirements
- Observe all governing codes and ordinances.
- Avoid cabinet storage directly above surface units to prevent fire hazards.
- Ensure the range is located for convenient use.
- Installations must provide complete enclosure of the range's sides and rear.
- Seal all openings in walls or floors.
- The anti-tip bracket must be installed securely to the floor or wall.
- Ensure the electrical supply is grounded and adequate.
- Contact a qualified installer to verify floor covering can withstand heat.
- If installing over carpeting, use an insulated pad or plywood.
Electrical Requirements
U.S.A. Only: The range must be connected to the proper voltage and frequency as specified on the rating plate. A 4-wire connection is recommended. Ensure the electrical connection and wire gauge conform to the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local codes. A circuit breaker is recommended. The range is typically equipped with a power cord for a standard 14-50R wall receptacle.
Canada Only: Ensure the electrical connection and wire size conform to the Canadian Electrical Code (CSA C22.1) and local codes. A 4-wire, single-phase 250V, 60Hz AC-only supply is required. A circuit breaker is recommended.
Installation Steps
- Unpack Range: Remove all shipping materials. Two or more people are recommended for moving the appliance.
- Install Anti-Tip Bracket: Securely mount the anti-tip bracket to the floor or wall according to the provided instructions and illustrations. This is a critical safety step.
- Adjust Leveling Legs: Adjust the leveling legs to ensure the range is level. The range must be level for proper baking and cleaning performance. Ensure adequate clearance for the anti-tip bracket.
- Electrical Connection: Connect the range to the power supply according to the electrical requirements for your region (U.S.A. or Canada), following either the direct wire or power cord connection instructions. Ensure all connections are secure and properly grounded.
- Verify Anti-Tip Bracket Engagement: After sliding the range into its final position, verify that the rear range foot is properly engaged in the anti-tip bracket slot.
- Remove/Replace Drawer: Instructions are provided for removing and replacing oven drawers if necessary.
- Oven Door: Instructions are provided for removing and replacing the oven door, noting that the door is heavy.
- Complete Installation: Check that all parts are installed, tools are accounted for, and packaging materials are disposed of. Clean any shipping residue. Plug in the range and turn on the power. Test surface burners and oven.
Troubleshooting
If the range does not operate, check household fuses/circuit breakers, ensure the range is plugged in, and verify the electrical supply. If an "F9" or "F9, E0" error code appears, consult a qualified electrician to check the outlet wiring.
Moving the Range
When moving the range, slide it onto cardboard or hardboard to protect the floor. For power cord connected ranges, unplug the cord. For direct-wired ranges, disconnect power before servicing. Always re-verify anti-tip bracket engagement and levelness after moving.
