How to Use the Joystick Button

Joystick Button Power LED

You can easily control the functions of the monitor by pressing the joystick button or moving it left/right with your finger.

Basic Functions

Press the joystick button once with your finger to turn on the monitor.

Press and hold the joystick button once with your finger to turn off the monitor.

You can control the volume by moving the joystick button left/right.

Moving and Lifting the Monitor
When moving or lifting the monitor, follow these instructions to prevent the monitor from being scratched or damaged and to ensure safe transportation regardless of its shape or size.
y It is advisable to place the monitor in the original box or packing material before attempting to move it.
y Before moving or lifting the monitor, disconnect the power cord and all cables.
y Hold the top and bottom of the monitor frame firmly. Do not hold the screen itself.

CAUTION
y As far as possible, avoid touching the monitor screen. This may result in damage to the screen or some of the pixels used to create images.

y When holding the monitor, the screen should face away from you to prevent it being scratched.

y If you use the monitor panel without the stand base, its joystick button may cause the monitor to become unstable and fall, resulting in damage to the monitor or human injury. In addition, this may cause the joystick button to malfunction.

y When moving the monitor, avoid any strong shock or vibrations to the product.
y When moving the monitor, keep it upright, never turn the monitor on its side or tilt it sideways.

Installing onto a table
1 Lift the monitor and place it on the table in an up-
right position. Place at least 100 mm away from the wall to ensure sufficient ventilation.

2 Connect the Power cord to the monitor, then plug
the power cord into the wall outlet.

3 Press the joystick button on the bottom of the
monitor to turn on the monitor.

y Unplug the power cord prior to moving or installing the monitor. There is risk of electric shock.

Adjusting the angle
1 Place the monitor in an upright position, mounted
on the stand base.
2 Adjust the angle of the screen. The angle of the
screen can be adjusted forwards or backwards for a comfortable viewing experience.

1 Handle the monitor with both hands for safety.

2 The height can be adjusted up to 110.0 mm.

y To avoid injury to the fingers when adjusting the screen, do not hold the lower part of the monitor's frame as illustrated below.

Pivot Feature
The pivot feature allows the monitor to rotate 90° clockwise.

y To avoid scratching the stand base, make sure that when rotating the monitor using the pivot feature, the stand does not make contact with the monitor.
1 Raise the monitor to the maximum height.

4 Complete the installation by rotating the monitor
90° as shown below.

2 Adjust the angle of the monitor in the direction of
the arrow as shown in the figure.

NOTE
y Auto Pivot feature of the display is not supported. y The screen can be rotated easily using the screen
pivot shortcut key provided with your Windows operating system. Note that some Windows versions and some graphics card drivers may use different settings for the screen pivot key or may not support the pivot key at all.

WARNING y Take care when rotating the monitor if the cable
is connected. y To avoid injury when rotating the display, do not
place your fingers between the display and the stand base.

NOTE y The left or right side of the monitor head can be
slightly rotated up or down (up to 3°). Adjust the horizontal level of the monitor head.

Using the Kensington lock
The Kensington security system connector is located at the back of the Monitor set. For more information on installation and usage, refer to the Kensington lock user manual or visit the website at http://www.kensington.com.
Connect the Kensington security system cable between the Monitor set and a table.

y Use of the Kensington lock is optional. The accessories can be purchased at your local electronics store.

Detaching the Stand Body
1 Place the monitor's screen face down. To protect the
screen from scratches, cover the surface with a soft cloth.
2 Remove the stand from the monitor by pressing
the button on the bottom center of the back of the monitor.

Installing to a wall
Install the monitor at least 100 mm away from the wall and leave about 100 mm of space at each side of the monitor to ensure sufficient ventilation. Detailed installation instructions can be obtained from your local retail store. Please refer to the manual to install and set up a tilting wall mounting bracket.

Installing the wall mount plate
This monitor supports the specification of the standard wall mount plate or compatible device.
1 Place the screen face down. To protect the screen
from scratches, cover the surface with a soft cloth.
2 Place the wall mount plate onto the monitor and
align it with the screw holes.
3 Tighten the four screws to fix the plate to the moni-
tor using a screwdriver.

To install the monitor to a wall, attach a wall mounting bracket (optional) to the back of the monitor. Make sure that the wall mounting bracket is securely fixed to the monitor and to the wall.
1 If you use screw longer than standard, the monitor might be damaged internally.
2 If you use improper screw, the product might be damaged and drop from mounted position. In this case, LG Electronics is not responsible for it.

USING THE MONITOR
Connecting to a PC
y This monitor supports the *Plug and Play feature. *Plug and Play: A feature that allows you to add a device to your computer without having to reconfigure anything or install any manual drivers.

DisplayPort connection
Transmits the digital video and audio signals from your PC to the monitor. Connect your PC to the monitor using the Displayport cable as illustrated below. Press the menu button and then select the input option from the input menu.

HDMI connection
Transmits the digital video and audio signals from your PC and A/V devices to the monitor. Connect your PC and AV device to the monitor with the HDMI cable as illustrated below. Press the menu button and then select the input option from the input menu.

NOTE
y There may be no video or audio output depending on the DP version of the PC.
y If you use generic cables not certified by LG, the screen may not display or there may be image noises.
y For using Mini DP to DP (Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort) cable, it is recommended that you use DisplayPort 1.2 cable.

NOTE
y If you use HDMI PC, it can cause compatibility problem.
y Use a certified cable with the HDMI logo attached. If you do not use a certified HDMI cable, the screen may not display or a connection error may occur.

USB-C connection
Transmits digital video and audio signals from your PC to the monitor. Connect the monitor to your PC using the USB-C cable as shown in the illustration below. Press the menu button and then select the input option from the input menu.

Connecting to AV Devices
HDMI connection
Transmits the digital video and audio signals from your PC and A/V devices to the monitor. Connect your PC and AV device to the monitor with the HDMI cable as illustrated below. Press the menu button and then select the input option from the input menu.

y PD(Power Delivery) and DP Alternate Mode(DP over USB-C) are supported via USB-C Port.
y Features may not work properly depending on the connected device's specifications and the environment.

1 To view the settings menu, press the joystick button at the bottom of the monitor and then enter the Settings. 2 Configure the options by moving the joystick up/down/left/right. 3 To return to the upper settings or set other settings items, move the joystick toor press ( ). 4 If you want to exit the settings menu, move the joystick tountil you exit.

Custom

The user can adjust it to red, green, or blue by customization.

Warm

Sets the screen color to a reddish tone.

Medium

Sets the screen color between a red and blue tone.

Cool

Sets the screen color to a bluish tone.

MaxxAudio® by waves, recipient of a Technical GRAMMY Award® is a suite of studio-

quality sound tools for a superior listening experience.

Off

Disables the MaxxAudio function.

Selects the input mode. Adjusts the aspect ratio of the screen.

Description

Full Wide Displays the video in wide-screen, regardless of the video signal input.

Original

Displays video according to the aspect ratio of the video signal input.

1:1

The aspect ratio is not adjusted from the original.

y The display may look the same for Full Wide , Original, and 1:1 options at the recommended resolution (3840 x 2160).
y There is no 1:1 menu on FreeSync Mode. ( Go to Picture  Game Adjust  FreeSync, to set from FreeSync Basic or Extended to Off)

Allows the user to adjust each element. The color mode of the main menu can be adjusted.

Reader

Optimizes the screen for viewing documents. You can brighten the screen in the OSD menu.

Photo

Optimizes the screen for photos.

Cinema

Optimizes the screen for video.

HDR Effect

Optimizes the screen for high dynamic range.

Dark Room 1

This mode adjusts the brightness to the optimal level for working in a dark environment.

Dark Room 2 This mode sets the brightness to a lower level than Dark Room 1.

Color Weakness This mode is for users who cannot distinguish between red and green. It enables users with color weakness to easily distinguish between the two colors.

FPS Game 1

This mode is optimized for FPS games.

FPS Game 2

It has a higher Black Stabilizer value than FPS Game 1. It is suitable for very dark FPS games.

RTS Game

This mode is optimized for RTS Game.

Custom (Game) In this mode, users can customize various elements including game-related options.

EBU

A standard TV PAL color space for broadcasting.

REC709

A standard HDTV color space for broadcasting.

SMPTE-C

A standard TV NTSC color space for broadcasting.

Calibration 1 Adjusts to the last calibrated screen.

Calibration 2 Adjusts to the previously calibrated screen.

NOTE
y If the picture mode is changed, the screen may flicker or the resolution of your PC screen may be affected. y Calibration 2 : Installation of TRUE COLOR PRO and proceeding Calibration will enable this menu.

y When the HDR function is turned on, the characters or picture quality may be poor according to Graphic card performance.
y While the HDR function is on, screen flickering or cracking may occur when changing the monitor input or power on/off according to Graphic card performance.

Adjusts the brightness of the screen.

Adjusts the contrast of the screen.

Adjusts the sharpness of the screen.

High

Optimized picture quality is displayed when a user wants crystal clear images. It

is effective for high quality video or game.

Middle

The optimized picture quality is displayed when a user wants images between low and high modes for comfortable viewing. It is effective for UCC or SD video.

Low

The optimized picture quality is displayed when a user wants smooth and natural im-

ages. It is effective for slow-moving pictures or still images.

Off

Select this option for everyday viewing. SUPER RESOLUTION+ is turned off in

this mode.

NOTE

y Because this is a function to increase the sharpness of low resolution pictures, it is not recommended to use the function for normal text or for desktop icons. Doing so may result in unnecessarily high sharpness.

Black Level

Sets the offset level (for HDMI only). y Offset: as a reference for a video signal, this is the darkest color the monitor can display.

High

Keeps the current contrast ratio of the screen.

Low

Lowers the black levels and raises the white levels from the current contrast

ratio of the screen.

HDMI ULTRA HD Provides sharper images when connected to a device supporting ULTRA HD Deep Color.

Sets a response time for displayed pictures based on the speed of the screen. For a normal environment, it is recommended that you use Fast. For a fast-moving picture, it is recommended that you use Faster. Setting to Faster may cause image sticking.

Sets the response time to fast.

Sets the response time to normal.

Off

Does not use the response time improvement feature.

Provides seamless and natural images by synchronizing the vertical frequency of the input signal with that of the output signal.

Extended

Enable wider frequency range of FreeSync function than basic mode. The screen may flicker during the game play.

Enable basic frequency range of FreeSync function.

Black Stabilizer

You can control the black contrast to have better visibility in dark scenes. Increasing the Black Stabilizer value brightens the low gray level area on the screen. If you do not need to adjust the gamma settings, select Mode 4. The user can adjust it to red, green, or blue by customization.

Sets the screen color to a reddish tone.

Medium Cool

Sets the screen color between a red and blue tone. Sets the screen color to a bluish tone.

You can customize the picture color using Red, Green, and Blue colors.

Six Color

Meets the user requirements for colors through adjusting the color and saturation of the six colors(Red_Hue, Red_Saturation, Green_Hue, Green_Saturation, Blue_Hue, Blue_Saturation, Cyan_Hue, Cyan_Saturation, Magenta_Hue, Magenta_Saturation, Yellow_Hue, Yellow_Saturation) and saving the settings.

Adjusts the tone of the screen colors.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Nothing is displayed on the screen. Is the monitor's power cord plugged in? y Check if the power cord is correctly plugged into the power outlet.

Is the power LED on? Is the power on and the power LED displaying white? Is the OUT OF RANGE message being displayed?
Is the No Signal message being displayed?

y Check the power cable connection and press the power button. y Check that the connected input is enabled (Settings > Input > Input list).
y This occurs when signals transferred from the PC (graphics card) are out of the horizontal or vertical frequency range of the monitor. Please see the Product Specification section of this manual to set the appropriate frequency.
y This is displayed when the signal cable between the PC and the monitor is missing or disconnected. Check the cable and reconnect it.

The OSD lock message is being displayed. Are some functions not available when y The OSD is locked. Go to Settings > General and set OSD Lock to Off. you press the Menu button?

The screen retains an image.
Does image sticking occur even when the monitor is turned off?

y Displaying a still image for a prolonged time may cause damage to the screen, resulting in the retention of the image.
y To extend the lifetime of the monitor, use a screensaver.

Screen display is unstable and shaky / Images displayed on the monitor leave shadow trails.

Did you select the appropriate resolution?

y If the selected resolution is HDMI 1080i 60/50 Hz (interlaced), the screen may be flickering. Change the resolution to 1080P or the recommended

resolution.

y Vertical frequency In order to display an image, the screen must be refreshed dozens of times per second, like a fluorescent lamp. The number of times the screen is refreshed per second is called vertical frequency, or refresh rate, and is represented by Hz.
y Horizontal frequency The time it takes to display one horizontal line is called the horizontal cycle. If 1 is divided by the horizontal interval, the result is the number of horizontal lines displayed per second. This is called horizontal frequency and is represented by kHz.
y LED can be lighted with Set OSD Menu.

y Check if the graphics card's resolution or frequency is within the range allowed by the monitor and set it to the recommended (optimal) resolution in Control Panel > Display > settings.
y Not setting the graphics card to the recommended (optimal) resolution may result in blurred text, a dimmed screen, a truncated display area, or misalignment of the display.
y The setting methods may be different depending on the computer or operating system, and some resolutions may not be available depending on the performance of the graphics card. If this is the case, contact the manufacturer of the computer or graphics card for assistance.
y Some graphics cards may not support 3840 x 2160 resolution. If the resolution cannot be displayed, contact the manufacturer of your graphics card.

The display color is abnormal. Does the display appear discolored (16 colors)?
Does the display color appear unstable or monochrome?
Are there spots on the screen?

y Set the color to 24 bit (true color) or higher. In Windows, go to Control Panel > Display > Settings > Color Quality.
y Check if the signal cable is connected properly. Reconnect the cable or reinsert the PC's graphics card.
y When using the monitor, pixilated spots (red, green, blue, white, or black) may appear on the screen. This is normal for an LCD screen. It is not an error, nor is it related to the monitor's performance.
