Load Handling and Safety
Load Distribution: Distribute loads evenly and laterally/longitudinally as low as possible over the span. Avoid point loads concentrated at the front or rear. Illustrations show correct and incorrect load placement.
Transporting Loads: Exercise extreme care with wind-resistant loads, paying attention during cornering and braking. Off-road conditions require extra caution, especially on unpaved surfaces.
Securing Loads: Long flexible loads must be tied to the bonnet. Surfboard overhangs over 600mm require bonnet tie-down. Loads must be secured to the platform, not the legs. Use only non-stretch fastening ropes or straps.
Vehicle Considerations: Do not obstruct windscreen camera sensors. Warranty may be void if kayaks are not secured to the bonnet. Tub/tray/canopys can move independently; fix rigidly to either cabin or rack system, not both. Remove racks for automatic car washes. Ensure ladders are well-supported and exercise caution with heights. Prevent sunroof collision with the rack system.

In-Service Maintenance Checks
- Check all bolt connections after a short drive (5-10 mins) upon initial installation.
- Check bolted connections regularly (weekly recommended, depending on usage).
- Check bolted connections each time they are refitted.
- Off-road conditions require more frequent checks of bolted connections and loads.
- Ensure vehicle manufacturer’s GVM and gross axle weights are not exceeded (refer to owner’s manual).
