1. Your Keys
The UBCO 22 comes with two types of keys: a key fob for powering the bike on/off and a securing key for steering and battery locks.
1.1 Powering the Bike
Hold the key fob button for 1.5 seconds to turn the bike on in Neutral. The throttle is inactive in Neutral.
Press the kill switch to change between Neutral and Drive. In Drive, the throttle is activated and lights turn on.
To turn the bike off:
- From Neutral: Hold the key fob button for 1 second or hold the kill switch for 2 seconds.
- From Drive: Press either the key fob button or the kill switch button for 2 seconds.
The UBCO 22 is very quiet due to its electric drive motors and will not rev when turned to Drive or when the throttle is applied.
2. Handlebar Controls
The handlebars feature controls for operation and safety.
2.1 Control Switch (Left Handlebar)
- Headlight and Horn buttons.
- Indicator switch is inactive.
- Headlight and tail lights automatically activate in Drive.
- To turn off the headlight: switch to Neutral, use the UBCO Rider's App, or hold the low beam switch (repeat to turn on).
- Holding the high beam switch activates the headlight in Neutral for temporary lighting.
2.2 Kill Switch (Right Handlebar)
Located next to the throttle. Activating the kill switch changes the bike to Neutral. To enable Drive, retract the kickstand and press the kill switch.
2.3 Security Mode
Security Mode is on by default, requiring the key fob to power the bike. To turn Security Mode OFF (allowing power-on via kill switch only): Turn off the bike, then press and hold both the key fob button and the kill switch for approximately 10 seconds until a final long beep indicates completion. Repeat to re-enable Security Mode. Turning off Security Mode allows anyone with access to the bike to turn it on and use it.
2.4 Throttle
Twist the throttle towards you to accelerate. The throttle controls all acceleration. Release the throttle to decelerate. Do not continuously power the throttle when the bike is stationary.
2.5 Brakes
To slow down, release the throttle and apply the brakes (left = rear, right = front). The UBCO system includes a two-level regenerative braking system:
- Level 1: Gentle "engine braking" effect when the throttle is released.
- Level 2: Engages motor braking just before mechanical brakes when brake levers are pressed, adding braking power and recharging the battery.
Brake lever angle can be adjusted using screws on the brake lever mount. Ensure they are retightened to 7Nm torque.
3. LCD Display
The LCD display provides vital riding information, including a charge meter on the left. A yellow 'Charge Required' light illuminates when the battery charge is low.
4. Suspension
The front and rear suspensions feature adjustable rebound controls and spring preload. Adjustments affect suspension re-extension rate, loaded ride height, and bottoming-out resistance. For demanding terrain or higher loads, increasing preload is recommended.
4.1 Front Suspension
Rebound speed is adjusted on the right fork crown (clockwise = slower, counter-clockwise = faster). Spring preload is adjusted on the left fork (clockwise = less force, counter-clockwise = more force).
4.2 Rear Suspension
Rebound control (red dial) is adjusted at the top of the spring (counter-clockwise = slower, clockwise = faster). Spring preload is adjusted at the base of the spring (clockwise = less force, counter-clockwise = more force). Rear suspension preload and rebound should be set equally on both sides.
