Please register your purchase at www.ubco.com/register for warranty purposes. Download the UBCO Rider's App from your app store for the latest updates and features. Ensure Bluetooth and location services are enabled on your phone when using the app.

Please read this manual carefully, paying special attention to safety messages indicated by the [Important] symbol.

1. Your Keys

The UBCO 22 comes with two types of keys: a key fob for powering the bike on/off and a securing key for steering and battery locks.

1.1 Powering the Bike

Hold the key fob button for 1.5 seconds to turn the bike on in Neutral. The throttle is inactive in Neutral.

Press the kill switch to change between Neutral and Drive. In Drive, the throttle is activated and lights turn on.

To turn the bike off:

The UBCO 22 is very quiet due to its electric drive motors and will not rev when turned to Drive or when the throttle is applied.

2. Handlebar Controls

The handlebars feature controls for operation and safety.

2.1 Control Switch (Left Handlebar)

2.2 Kill Switch (Right Handlebar)

Located next to the throttle. Activating the kill switch changes the bike to Neutral. To enable Drive, retract the kickstand and press the kill switch.

2.3 Security Mode

Security Mode is on by default, requiring the key fob to power the bike. To turn Security Mode OFF (allowing power-on via kill switch only): Turn off the bike, then press and hold both the key fob button and the kill switch for approximately 10 seconds until a final long beep indicates completion. Repeat to re-enable Security Mode. Turning off Security Mode allows anyone with access to the bike to turn it on and use it.

2.4 Throttle

Twist the throttle towards you to accelerate. The throttle controls all acceleration. Release the throttle to decelerate. Do not continuously power the throttle when the bike is stationary.

2.5 Brakes

To slow down, release the throttle and apply the brakes (left = rear, right = front). The UBCO system includes a two-level regenerative braking system:

Brake lever angle can be adjusted using screws on the brake lever mount. Ensure they are retightened to 7Nm torque.

3. LCD Display

The LCD display provides vital riding information, including a charge meter on the left. A yellow 'Charge Required' light illuminates when the battery charge is low.

4. Suspension

The front and rear suspensions feature adjustable rebound controls and spring preload. Adjustments affect suspension re-extension rate, loaded ride height, and bottoming-out resistance. For demanding terrain or higher loads, increasing preload is recommended.

4.1 Front Suspension

Rebound speed is adjusted on the right fork crown (clockwise = slower, counter-clockwise = faster). Spring preload is adjusted on the left fork (clockwise = less force, counter-clockwise = more force).

4.2 Rear Suspension

Rebound control (red dial) is adjusted at the top of the spring (counter-clockwise = slower, clockwise = faster). Spring preload is adjusted at the base of the spring (clockwise = less force, counter-clockwise = more force). Rear suspension preload and rebound should be set equally on both sides.

  1. Turn off the bike.
  2. Remove the battery strap and power plug.
  3. Using the securing key, unfasten the battery lock on the rear right-hand side.
  4. Lift the seat.
  5. Lift the battery with two hands and store on a stable, cool, dry surface.

Ensure the battery plug is reinstalled correctly if the battery is removed.

5.5 Battery Care & Safety

6. Riding Safety

The UBCO 22 is nearly silent. Always assume you are invisible to other users. Be aware of your surroundings, ride to conditions, and stay within loading and gradient limits.

6.1 General Safety

⚠️ Do not ride the bike if it is materially defective, damaged, or missing safety-related equipment.

6.2 Kickstand Safety

The kickstand must be retracted before riding. Keep legs and body parts clear of the kickstand's path of movement when retracting.

7. Loading the 22

Improper loading affects stability and handling. Ride with caution when loaded.

7.1 Loading Safety

Load limits are estimated suggestions. Rider abilities should be considered.

Load Limits:

7.2 Riding with a Load

With a load up to 100kg / 220lbs, the max gradient is 15°/25%. With loads exceeding 100kg, maximum and continuous gradients must be reduced.

7.3 Carrying the Bike

[Heavy Object] 2 PERSON LIFT REQUIRED. Bikes weigh between 50-53kg / 110-116lbs (with battery removed). Use proper lifting techniques.

Use a standard tow hitch-mounted carry rack:

  1. Remove the battery before transporting and carry it inside your vehicle.
  2. Lift the bike onto the rack and lock steering.
  3. Attach ratchet straps around the rack and the bike frame (through the center 'X' section).
  4. Check the bike is secure before driving.
  5. Ensure plugs and ports are clean before reinstalling the battery.
