Using Your Roomba® Robot Vacuum

Placing the Home Base™ Charging Station

WARNING! To reduce the risk of the robot falling down stairs, always ensure the charging station is placed at least 1.2 meters (4 feet) from stairs.

Place the Home Base in an open area and leave the following clearances around the Home Base:

Getting to Know Your Robot

Note: The robot is partially charged when delivered, but we recommend charging the robot on the Home Base for three hours before starting the first full cleaning cycle.

Note: Remove scattered items from the floor before cleaning (e.g., clothes, toys, and other objects). Use your Roomba® robot vacuum frequently so that dirt does not accumulate.

When the robot returns to charge after a cleaning cycle is completed, a series of tones will play to indicate that the cleaning cycle is finished.

Note: When the robot returns to the Home Base, the Home button will blink.

Accessories

Virtual Wall® Barrier with Two Modes

(Accessory compatible with all models)

Use Virtual Wall® with two modes to keep the robot in place in areas you want cleaned – and away from others. It creates an invisible barrier that only the robot can see. Between cleaning cycles, you can leave the device on the floor.

Choose the mode that best suits your needs:

Virtual Wall Mode

When the switch is in the Virtual Wall mode (---), the device creates a linear barrier to block openings up to 3 meters (10 feet). Note: The barrier becomes wider further away from the device (see illustration).

Diagram shows a linear barrier created by the Virtual Wall device.

Halo Mode

Slide the switch to Halo mode () to create a circular barrier. The boundary is used to prevent the robot from cleaning areas you want to protect, such as a pet food bowl or vase, or the floor under a desk. The halo barrier extends approximately 60 centimeters (2 feet) from the center of the device.

Diagram shows a circular barrier created by the Virtual Wall device.

Note: Batteries last approximately 8-10 months with normal use. If you do not intend to use the Virtual Wall barrier for an extended period, turn it off (Off position in the middle).

Troubleshooting

The Roomba® robot vacuum will alert you when something is wrong by emitting an alarm signal in two tones. This is followed by a message and a flashing troubleshooting indicator (). Follow the audio prompts. For more detailed help and videos, refer to the iRobot HOME app and global.irobot.com.

To restart the robot, press and hold the Home and SPOT buttons for 10 seconds until all lights turn off. Then release the buttons. When you release the buttons, a signal will sound to confirm the unit has restarted.

Note: If you use the scheduling feature, open the iRobot HOME app after restarting the robot to confirm that the schedule is intact.

Low Power Standby Mode

The Roomba® robot vacuum always draws some power, even when it is on the Home Base™ charging station. This means it is always ready for the next cleaning job and maintains its Wi-Fi® connection. If you wish, you can put the robot into a state where it consumes even less energy when not in use. Instructions and more information on this low power standby mode can be found in the iRobot HOME app.

Lithium-Ion Battery

For best results, use only the iRobot® lithium-ion battery that came with your Roomba® robot vacuum.

WARNING! Lithium-ion batteries and products containing them must be transported only in accordance with strict regulations. If you need to transport this product (with the battery installed) for maintenance, travel, or any other reason, you MUST follow the transport instructions below.
