About the VR-160

The Yaesu VR-160 is a high-performance, micro-miniature communications receiver. It covers a wide frequency range from 100 kHz to 1299.995 MHz, supporting AM and FM (Wide and Narrow bandwidths) modes. This includes AM/FM broadcast bands, HF Shortwave, VHF/UHF TV bands, the VHF AM aircraft band, and numerous commercial and public safety frequencies.

Its compact design makes it ideal for portable use, whether for outdoor activities or everyday listening. The included FNB-82LI Lithium-Ion Battery Pack offers over 20 hours of continuous operation. The receiver features a high-resolution dot-matrix LCD display for clear frequency indication and a Band Scope function for visualizing signal strengths of adjacent channels.

Additional features include CTCSS and DCS squelch systems for filtering unwanted signals, a password security function, and S-Meter Squelch for precise squelch threshold adjustment. The VR-160 also allows for connection of external equipment via its ACC jack for expanded functionality.
