Feit Electric Wi-Fi Smart Dimmer Installation Guide

Installation Overview

1. Turn off power at the circuit breaker or fuse and test that power is off before wiring.
2. Identify your wiring: Single Pole or 3-Way.
   • Open the outlet box and look for the neutral wire. If you do not have a neutral wire, the dimmer will not work.
   • Determine if you have Single Pole or 3-Way wiring and label your wires (LINE (HOT), NEUTRAL, GROUND, LOAD, TRAVELER).
   • Disconnect wires and remove the old switch.
3. Wire your dimmer.
   • Single Pole: One Smart Dimmer on a Circuit

     Make wire connections by inserting wires into the designated holes on the back of the dimmer (AC-L, LOAD, AC-N, G) and tightening the screw terminals.

   • 3-Way: One Smart Dimmer with a Switch on the Same Circuit

     Install the dimmer in the location connected to the incoming 120V LINE. Make wire connections to the dimmer (AC-L, YL/RD, AC-N, G) and the 3-way switch.

   • 3-Way: Two Smart Dimmers on the Same Circuit

     Install one dimmer in the location connected to the incoming 120V LINE and the other in the location connected to the LOAD (FIXTURE). Make wire connections accordingly for each dimmer.

4. Fit dimmer inside the wall-box.

   Position all wires inside the wall-box, leaving enough room to insert the dimmer housing. Secure the dimmer inside the wall-box using the provided mounting screws.

5. Separate mounting frame from wall plate.

   Gently insert a screwdriver into the slots to separate the mounting frame from the wall plate.

6. Install mounting frame.

   Place the mounting frame over the installed dimmer and secure it using the provided screws.

7. Install wall plate.

   Snap the decorative wall plate over the installed mounting frame, starting with the top then the bottom.

8. Dimmer Operation.

   Restore power. The indicator lights on the dimmer will begin blinking. To use as a traditional dimmer, wait until the blinking stops (approx. 3 minutes). To enable smart features, see step 9.

9. Enable Smart Features.

   Download and install the Feit Electric App from the App Store or Google Play Store. Follow the in-app instructions to set up the Wi-Fi Smart Dimmer. Ensure you are connecting to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.

Setting Dimming Range and Troubleshooting Flickering

If you experience flickering, first tighten any loose bulbs and ensure all bulbs are rated "dimmable". If flickering continues:

• Using the App: Under Settings, adjust the minimum brightness until flickering stops.
• Manually on the Dimmer:
  1. Press and hold dim (+) and dim (-) buttons simultaneously for at least 5 seconds. The power indicator light will blink.
  2. Hold dim (+) or dim (-) to adjust the light to the minimum brightness without flickering.
  3. Repeat step 1 to set the minimum brightness level. The power indicator light will return to a solid light.

Light Level Indicator Lights

The LEDs indicate the selected brightness level:

• LED 1: 1%-20%
• LED 2: 21%-40%
• LED 3: 41%-60%
• LED 4: 61%-80%
• LED 5: 81%-100%

Power Indicator Light:

• Blinking Light: Pairing mode (lasts 3 minutes)
• Solid Light: On when unit is paired or after 3 minutes if no Wi-Fi connection

Multi-Gang Installation

When installing in multi-gang locations, follow the maximum ratings below:

You may need to purchase multi-gang cover plates (not included).

Troubleshooting Tips

• Difficulty connecting dimmer to a Wi-Fi network: Ensure you are using a 2.4 GHz network, check Wi-Fi coverage, and verify your password.
• Lights are flickering: Check bulb connections, wire connections, or set your dimming range.
• Light does not turn ON: Check circuit breaker/fuse or bulb.
• Power indicator light does not turn ON: Ensure the neutral wire is connected and the dimmer is supplied with 120 V AC, 60 Hz.
• Intermittent dimmer operation: Confirm the load does not exceed maximum ratings.

Replacing Light Bulbs

• Ensure dimmer switches are in the off position.
• Turn off power at the circuit breaker or fuse before replacing bulbs.
• An air gap switch can be used to disable the dimmer in single pole applications, but does not replace turning off power at the breaker.

Notes on LED Dimming

Dimmable LEDs may not dim as low as incandescent bulbs and dimming performance can vary by manufacturer. This dimmer has an adjustable dimming range. If your bulbs do not dim to your satisfaction, hum, buzz, or flicker, refer to the "Set your dimming range and troubleshoot flickering" section. Feit Electric warrants compatibility with Feit Electric dimmable LED bulbs.
