Bond Home Application Setup and Device Integration Guide

Setup (Android)

Note: The Bond Home application requires Android version 6 or greater.

  1. Ensure you have a stable and working wireless network.
  2. Plug the Bond Bridge into an outlet. The center ring light will be white during boot-up.
  3. The Bond center ring light will flash green when the Bond is ready for use. If not flashing green, try a WiFi (Green) reset.
  4. Download the Bond Home application.
  5. Open the Bond Home application.
  6. If you have an existing Bond account, log in. Otherwise, press "Create Account", enter your name, email, and password, then click "Create Account".
  7. Once logged in, click the '+' sign at the bottom center of the application screen and choose "Bond Bridge".
  8. On the setup screen, select "Continue".
  9. Select your Bond Config WiFi (Bond serial number) shown under nearby devices. If you cannot connect to the Bond Config WiFi, follow the procedure at olibra.zendesk.com to manually connect.
  10. Select your desired WiFi network and enter the password. Refresh the list by pulling down and releasing if your network is not visible.
  11. For Hidden Networks:
    • With Bond Bridges having serial numbers starting with A or B: Select "OTHER" in the WiFi network list, enter the WiFi network name, the MAC address of your router/access point, and the password.
    • With Bond Bridges having serial numbers starting with Z: Select "OTHER" in the WiFi network list, enter the WiFi network name and the password.
  12. Once connected to your network, the Bond center ring light will turn blue.

WiFi Connection Issues (Android)

Important Note: If the Bond is unable to connect to your WiFi network, the center ring light will turn orange. Please try the following:

  1. Verify you are entering your WiFi password correctly.
  2. Try a WiFi reset and repeat the setup process.
  3. Reset your WiFi router.
  4. Unplug the Bond, wait 30 seconds, and plug it back in.
  5. If issues persist, contact Bond Home support at customerservice@bondhome.io.

Adding a New Device (Android)

  1. From the "Device" screen in the Bond Home application, click the '+' sign at the bottom center.
  2. Choose "Remote Control".
  3. Choose your Bond Bridge.
  4. Select the device type (e.g., Ceiling Fan).
  5. Set the Device Name and Location. Select "Continue".
  6. Choose the function/button on your remote that best represents its function (e.g., Power On/Off, Speed, Light).
  7. Important Note for IR Remotes: Select "Advanced Settings", change "Signal Type" to "IR", and click "Save".
  8. Begin the scanning process by following the on-screen instructions and selecting "Start".
  9. Aim your remote at the Bond (approximately 2 feet away) and press the button repeatedly until the Bond center ring light turns green.
  10. Once the Bond center ring lights turn blue, choose your remote from the list of matched signals. Test them and select the best fit.
  11. Select "Use this remote".
  12. Select "Done".

Setup (iOS)

Important Note: If the Bond is unable to connect to your WiFi network, the center ring light will turn orange. Please try the following:

  1. Verify you are entering your WiFi password correctly.
  2. Try a WiFi reset and repeat the setup process.
  3. Reset your WiFi router.
  4. Unplug the Bond, wait 30 seconds, and plug it back in.
  5. If issues persist, contact Bond Home support at customerservice@bondhome.io.

Adding a New Device (iOS)

  1. From the "My Devices" screen in the Bond Home app, click the '+' sign in the upper right corner and choose "Remote Control".
  2. Choose your Bond Bridge and select a device type.
  3. On the "About your fan" screen, set the device name and location, then select "Continue".
  4. Choose the function/button on your remote that best represents its function (e.g., Power On/Off, Speed, Light).
  5. Important Note for IR Remotes: Select "Advanced", change "Signal Type" to "IR", and click "Save".
  6. Begin the scanning process by following the on-screen instructions and selecting "Start".
  7. Aim your remote at the Bond (approximately 2 feet away) and press the button repeatedly until the Bond center ring light turns green.
  8. Once the Bond center ring lights turn blue, choose your remote from the list of matched signals. Test them and select the best fit.
  9. Select "Use this remote".
  10. Select "Done".

Troubleshooting Remote Programming

If you were unable to program your remote, try the following:

  1. Change the remote batteries.
  2. Instead of pressing and holding the function button, try pressing it repeatedly.
  3. Adjust the distance to the Bond (try 1 foot or 4 feet away) and try again.
  4. Point the remote directly at the Bond's front or sides when recording. The front part of the Bond unit is opposite the USB port.
  5. Go back to step 4 (choosing a command) and try recording a different function.
  6. If unsuccessful, power cycle the Bond: unplug it, wait 30 seconds, and plug it back in.
  7. If you are still unable to program your remote, contact Bond Home support at customerservice@bondhome.io.

Note on Compatibility: The BOND Bridge can learn control signals within the following frequency ranges: 285.5MHz-321.5MHz, 336.0MHz-364.99MHz, 365MHz-399.5MHz, and 410.5MHz-505.5MHz. The maximum duty cycle is 20%, and the maximum deactivation time is 2 seconds.
