1.6 Summary Description
The regulator series consists of five universal, freely configurable compact regulators in various DIN formats for controlling temperature, pressure, and other process variables. They feature simple, clear controls, two 18-segment LCD displays for process values and parameters, individual display elements for output status, manual mode, ramp, and timer functions. Four touch-sensitive keys allow operation. The devices are protected to IP65 for use in harsh environments. Depending on the hardware, they can function as 2-point, 3-point, or proportional controllers. Base execution includes auto-optimization, ramp, programmer, manual mode, limit value monitoring, digital inputs, and an intervention counter. Optional features include mathematical/logical functions and user-created applications via structured text (ST code). Configuration is user-friendly using the Setup program (including ST editor). No external power supply is needed for USB configuration.

2. Mounting
2.1 Mounting Instructions
WARNING! The device must not be used in explosion-risk zones.
- The device must only be used outside of explosive atmospheres.
Mounting Location
The device is designed for mounting in a cut-out of a control cabinet panel. The front and housing have different protection ratings (see Technical Characteristics).
Climatic Conditions
Ambient temperature and relative humidity at the mounting location must comply with the technical specifications. Aggressive gases and vapors shorten the device's lifespan. The mounting location must be free of dust, flour, and suspended matter.
Mounting Position
The mounting position is arbitrary. The maximum permissible ambient temperature applies only to vertical display orientation.
Technical Characteristics
Refer to chapter 5 "Technical Characteristics", Page 25.
2.2 Cleaning
The front of the device (flush keys) can be cleaned with standard detergents.
ATTENTION! The front is not resistant to aggressive acids and alkalis, scouring agents, or high-pressure cleaning. Use only suitable products.
2.3 Dimensions
The TCONTROL-05 has dimensions of 77.9 mm width, 48 mm height, and 44.5 mm depth. The panel cut-out according to CEI 61554 is 48 mm x 48 mm, with minimum edge spacings of 15 mm horizontally and 30 mm vertically for side-by-side mounting.
2.4 Mounting on Symmetrical Rail
Special fixing elements for symmetrical rail (35 mm, DIN EN 60715) are available as an option. This includes a base plate fixed to the rail and a device support. Follow these instructions:
- Place the base plate onto the symmetrical rail from above and press down until it clicks.
- Place the fixing frame (supplied with the device) into the device support from the front.
- Place the device (without control panel gasket) into the device support from the front and secure it with the fixing frame. Ensure sufficient fixation.
- Perform electrical connection. For easier connection, the device support can be hooked vertically from its lower part into the base plate (connection terminals at the top). It is also possible to hook the device support horizontally so that the connection terminals are accessible from the front. After connection, remove the device support from this position.
- Place the device support with its rear notches into the lateral recesses of the base plate and press down until it clicks.
2.5 Mounting in Control Panel
- Place the device into the panel cut-out from the front, ensuring the gasket is correctly positioned.
- Push the fixing frame from behind the panel onto the device body and press with the springs against the back of the control panel until the notches engage in the provided slots, ensuring sufficient fixation.
ATTENTION! Front and housing have different protection ratings! IP65 protection (front) is guaranteed only with a uniformly adhering gasket. Use the fixing frames and/or the two fixing elements as described and ensure uniform fixation.
3. Electrical Connection
3.1 Installation Instructions
Personnel Requirements
- Interventions on the device and electrical connection must be performed by qualified personnel only.
- Before connecting/disconnecting cables, ensure the person is electrostatically discharged (e.g., by touching grounded metal parts).
Cables, Shielding, and Grounding
- Follow VDE 0100 and relevant regulations for cable selection, installation, and connection.
- Observe special instructions regarding cable heat resistance (see connection diagram).
- Separate input, output, and power supply cables; do not run them parallel.
- Twist and shield sensor and interface cables. Keep them away from current-carrying components or cables.
- For temperature sensors, ground the shielding on one side within the control cabinet.
- Do not loop grounding cables; lead them separately to a common ground point in the control cabinet. Keep cables as short as possible. Ensure proper equipotential bonding.
Electrical Safety
- The device is intended for mounting in control cabinets or installations. Fuse protection should not exceed 20 A. Disconnect the device (all poles) for maintenance or repair.
- The relay load circuit can be powered by dangerous voltage (e.g., 230 V). Disconnect power during mounting/dismounting and electrical connection.
- To prevent relay contact destruction from external short circuits, protect the load circuit with fuses according to the maximum permissible output current.
- The device must not be installed in explosion-risk zones.
- Improper installation or misadjusted values can affect the process. Ensure independent safety devices (e.g., pressure relief valves, temperature limiters) are present. Adjustments must be made by qualified personnel, following safety guidelines.
Additional Warnings
- Electromagnetic compatibility complies with specified standards.
- Generally, follow instructions on galvanic separation.
Interface Setup
The USB Setup interface is not intended for permanent connection. Always disconnect the USB cable after using the Setup software.
