Introduction to Firmware Update

This document provides release notes for the d&b D90, D40, D25, 40D, and 25D amplifiers. Firmware updates are performed using the d&b R1 Remote control software.

To update the firmware, start the R1 software, navigate to the Service view, select the Firmware tab, and download the latest version. An Ethernet connection to the amplifier is required. Ensure the network connection remains uninterrupted during the update process. If an interruption occurs, the amplifier is not harmed, and the update can be restarted.

Please note that amplifier Ethernet ports 1 and 2 are laid out for redundant connections, but Ethernet port 2 cannot be used for firmware updates.

Updating to the latest firmware is highly recommended to avoid potential misbehavior or errors that have already been resolved.

Changes of V2.02.03 against previous V2.02.02 (07/2025)

• Speaker setups of CL-Series adapted to long-term production average. No audible changes are expected.

Changes of V2.02.02 against previous V2.00.04 (06/2025)

• Support of D25 and 25D amplifiers added.
• Bug fixes:
  • Issue with «ArrayProcessing» fixed, where high input signals possibly caused audible distortion on the output.
  • PRI/SEC indicators on the «Milan labels» screen and the «Data» indicator on the «Input» screen now work for all Milan inputs M1-8, instead of only for M1.
  • Occasional failure to display "MCR Locked" fixed.
  • 40D, D40 and D90 are now correctly displayed as MILAN instead of IEEE devices in HIVE 1.3.1.

Changes of V2.00.04 against previous V1.08.05 (06/2025)

• MILAN support added.
• CL-Series setups added.
• J8/J12 setups added for 40D.
• Level indicators / Metering now available in Standby.
• (Audio Clock) Lock information added to the Levels Screen.
• Bug fixes:
  • Robustness of T-SUB and E15X-SUB under maximum load conditions increased.
  • Mains Current Limiter (MCL) now reduces the signal correctly under all conditions, including burst-like signals.
  • The LED in the override screen is now green if the source is Override, and yellow during the release phase back to Regular.
  • Mute on Override (MOO) can now be set from R1.
  • Display brightness can now be set from R1.

Notes:

• With an update to V2.00.04, in rare cases, the automatic reboot may not be performed. In such instances, it is safe to manually reboot the device.
• MILAN stream connections and dynamic mappings are not part of "Backup and Restore".
• Power consumption in Standby mode increased to 21 W (40D/D40) / 24 W (D90).
• Boot time increased to less than 45 seconds.

Changes of V1.08.05 against previous V1.02.07 (03/2025)

• First firmware release including D90.
• Bug fixes:
  • Several fixes for mains supply monitoring.
  • The amplifier will no longer get stuck in the boot process if the system time has been set to 1970 (e.g., by a control PC with an empty CMOS battery).

Notes:

• EcoMode is disabled for mains voltages below 95 V / 185 V.

• Bug fixes:
  • Issue with XSL12 AP speaker setup fixed.
  • Issue with sporadic invalid DSP data fixed.

Changes of V1.02.05 against previous V1.02.03 (09/2023)

• Bug fixes:
  • Issue with sporadic popping noise when switching to Standby fixed.

Changes of V1.02.03 against previous V1.00.04 (11/2022)

• Energy saving modes enabled.
• XSL-SUB setups added.
• Error log now accessible via display.
• SNMP support for basic monitoring functions added.
• Games (D40 only: D-Pong, dbInvaders, dbSaySo) included.
• Bug fixes:
  • Issue with popping noise when switching XSL8 to CUT mode fixed.
  • Issue with unexpected behavior of frequency generator fixed.

Notes:

• When updating amplifiers with V1.00.03, ensure Power is on. When in Stand-by, the restart of the amplifier may get interrupted.
• Ethernet port 2 is not functional yet and is reserved for future network redundancy.

• Bug fixes:
  • DS data function completed.
  • Issue with display of static IP fixed.
  • Several fixes of GUI.

Changes of V1.00.03 against previous V0.94.02 (11/2021)

• System check and Load Monitoring added.
• Bug fixes:
  • Override function corrected.
  • Minor fixes of GUI.
• Known issues:
  • DS data functions not complete.
  • Static IP not shown without link up.
  • No games.

Note: Ethernet port 2 is not functional yet as it is reserved for future network redundancy.

V0.94.02 (09/2021)

• First pre-release of 40D firmware. Features are largely identical to the current 10D/30D Firmware V2.24.02.
• Known issues:
  • System check and Load Monitoring not yet available.
  • Ethernet port 2 not supported (although LEDs will indicate a connection).
  • Override only functional with input A3.
