STM32 Nucleo-64 Boards
Data Brief
Overview
The STM32 Nucleo-64 boards offer an affordable and flexible platform for users to explore new concepts and build prototypes. They provide various combinations of performance and power consumption features from the STM32 microcontroller family. For compatible boards, an external SMPS (Switched-Mode Power Supply) significantly reduces power consumption in Run mode.
The boards support Arduino™ Uno V3 connectivity and ST morpho headers, enabling easy expansion of the STM32 Nucleo open development platform with specialized shields. Each board integrates an ST-LINK debugger/programmer, eliminating the need for a separate probe. They come with comprehensive free software libraries and examples available via the STM32Cube MCU Package.
An image shows an example STM32 Nucleo-64 board (NUCLEO-G474RE), with a note that boards with different references have different layouts and the picture is not contractual.

Product Marking
Evaluation tools marked as "ES" or "E" are not yet qualified and therefore not ready for use as a reference design or in production. STMicroelectronics assumes no liability for customer usage of these engineering sample tools.
The "E" or "ES" marking may be located:
- On the targeted STM32 soldered on the board (refer to the STM32 datasheet for marking details).
- Next to the evaluation tool ordering part number printed on the board.
Some boards feature a specific STM32 device version, indicated by a "U" marking at the end of the standard part number, which allows the operation of bundled commercial stacks/libraries. This specific STM32 device version is not available for direct sales. Developers may need to purchase a part number specific to the stack/library to use the same commercial stack in their application; the price includes stack/library royalties.
Codification
The meaning of the codification for order codes is explained below:
Code Part | Description |
---|---|
XX | MCU series in STM32 Arm Cortex MCUs |
YY | MCU product line in the series |
R | STM32 package pin count |
T | STM32 Flash memory size:
|
-P | Indicates external SMPS function |
Example: NUCLEO-L452RE indicates STM32L4 Series (L4), model 52 (52), 64-pin package (R), 512 Kbytes Flash memory (E), without external SMPS.
The order code is typically found on a sticker on the top side of the board.
Development Environment
System Requirements
- Windows® OS (7, 8, and 10), Linux® 64-bit, or macOS®
- USB Type-A to Micro-B or USB Type-A to Mini-B cable (depending on the board reference)
macOS® is a trademark of Apple Inc. registered in the U.S. and other countries.
Development Toolchains
- Keil® MDK-ARM (on Windows® only)
