The Challenge

Club Deportivo Somontes in Madrid is one of the city's most prestigious sports centres. The golf, tennis, padel and pickleball facilities are currently undergoing extensive modernization. As part of this process, the outdated floodlighting systems at the various courts needed to be replaced with efficient LED solutions that optimize light quality – also with regard to the specific requirements of the individual sports – while reducing maintenance and energy costs.

The Solution

The club commissioned LEDVANCE to design and implement new LED-based lighting solutions for the individual sports facilities. In addition to the trust in the LEDVANCE brand and the comprehensive and flexibly adaptable product portfolio, the high quality of service and support was a decisive factor in the decision. LEDVANCE equipped the various sports fields at the club's facility with a total of 304 FLOODLIGHT PERFORMANCE LED luminaires, which can be precisely adapted to the requirements of the respective sport with four different wattages.

The new lighting solution offers Club Deportivo Somontes a number of advantages: with a luminous flux of up to 38,500 lm, uniform luminance distribution, reduced glare and clear light control (ULOR 0%), the LED FLOODLIGHTS create optimal lighting conditions for a wide range of sports. The robust construction of the LED luminaires, their IK 08 impact resistance rating and a wide ambient temperature range of -30 to +50 °C ensure reliable performance even in extreme outdoor conditions. A light output of up to 140 lm/W and energy savings of up to 90% compared to halogen floodlights or up to 45% compared to luminaires with conventional discharge lamps ensure particularly efficient and economical use of energy. In addition, the LED floodlights are particularly easy to install and – thanks to a service life of up to 100,000 hours (L70/B50 at 25 °C) and a 5-year guarantee – require little maintenance.
