Nintendo Switch™ & Nintendo Switch™ Lite: Important Information

This document provides essential information regarding the safe and proper use of the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite systems. It covers health and safety precautions, parental controls, usage guidance, technical specifications, and warranty details.

Health and Safety Information

WARNING - Seizures

Some individuals (approx. 1 in 4000) may experience seizures or blackouts triggered by light flashes or patterns, even if they have no prior history. Consult a doctor before playing if you have epilepsy or related symptoms. Stop playing and consult a doctor if you experience unusual symptoms such as convulsions, eye or muscle twitching, loss of awareness, altered vision, involuntary movements, or disorientation. To reduce the likelihood of a seizure: do not play if tired or need sleep, play in a well-lit room, and take 10-15 minute breaks every hour.

WARNING - Eye Strain, Motion Sickness and Repetitive Motion Injuries

Avoid excessively long play sessions. Take breaks of 10 to 15 minutes every hour. Stop playing if you experience symptoms like tired or sore eyes, dizziness, nausea, or discomfort in hands, wrists, or arms (e.g., tingling, numbness, burning, stiffness). Consult a doctor if symptoms persist.

WARNING - Pregnancy and Medical Conditions

Consult a doctor before playing games that may require physical activity if you are pregnant, suffer from heart, respiratory, back, joint, or orthopaedic problems, have high blood pressure, or if your doctor has advised you to restrict physical activity, or if you have any other medical condition that may be aggravated by physical activity.

WARNING - Batteries

Stop using if a battery leaks. If battery fluid contacts eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and consult a doctor. If fluid contacts hands, wash them thoroughly with water. Carefully wipe the fluid from the device exterior with a cloth. The console and Joy-Con controllers contain rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. Do not attempt to replace them yourself; contact Nintendo Customer Support for professional replacement.

WARNING - Electrical Safety

Use only the AC adapter (HAC-002) for charging. Connect to correct voltage (AC 100-240V). Do not use voltage transformers or plugs that reduce electricity. Plug into a nearby, accessible socket. For indoor use only. Unplug and contact support if you hear strange noises, see smoke, or smell something strange. Keep devices away from fire, microwaves, high temperatures, or direct sunlight. Avoid contact with liquids and wet/oily hands. If liquid enters, stop use and contact support. Do not apply excessive force, pull or twist cables, or touch connectors with fingers/metal objects. Do not touch adapter/devices during thunderstorms. Use only approved accessories. Do not disassemble or repair. Contact support if damaged. Avoid contact with leaking fluid.

WARNING - General

Keep console, accessories, and packaging away from children and pets. Small parts (game cards, microSD cards, packaging) can be ingested. Cables can coil around the neck. Do not use within 25 cm of a pacemaker when wireless communication is active; consult a doctor if you have a pacemaker or implanted medical device. Wireless communication may be restricted in certain places (e.g., airplanes, hospitals); follow regulations. Do not use headphones at high volumes for extended periods due to hearing damage risk. Keep volume low enough to hear surroundings; consult a doctor for symptoms like ear ringing. Stop playing if the console or controllers become too hot during charging, as this may cause skin burns. Persons with finger, hand, or arm injuries/disorders should not use the vibration feature.

CAREFUL USAGE

Do not place the console in humid areas or areas with sudden temperature changes. If condensation forms, turn off the console and wait for it to evaporate. Do not use in dusty or smoky areas. Do not cover air intakes/vents to prevent overheating. Clean devices with a soft, dry cloth; avoid alcohol/solvents. Be aware of your surroundings while playing. Charge batteries at least once every six months; batteries not used for extended periods may become unchargeable.

Parental Controls

Nintendo Switch offers features that parents may wish to restrict for children. Parental Controls can be set on the console or via a smart device app. Follow on-screen instructions during initial setup. A PIN can be used to set/change controls and temporarily disable them. Settings can be changed anytime via the app.

Purchase Restrictions in Nintendo eShop

To restrict eShop purchases, link your child's Nintendo Account with yours. Access your Nintendo Account on a smart device or PC to create or link an account and set restrictions.

Using the Joy-Con Controllers (not applicable to Nintendo Switch Lite)

Charge and pair controllers before first use by attaching them to the console or using the Joy-Con charging grip (sold separately). Ensure the console is charging simultaneously for full controller charge. When using a detached Joy-Con, use a Joy-Con strap accessory. Match the +/- button on the controller with the symbol on the accessory. Slide the accessory onto the controller and lock it. Attach the wrist strap and tighten it. Hold the controller securely and ensure adequate space. Release the slide lock before detaching the accessory. When attaching Joy-Cons or straps, orient correctly and slide until it clicks.

Activating and Deactivating Wireless Internet Connection

To activate: Go to INTERNET in (System Settings) on the HOME Menu and set up a connection. To deactivate in handheld mode: Hold the HOME Button to enter Quick Settings and set Flight Mode to On. Alternatively, go to (System Settings) from the HOME Menu and set Flight Mode to On.
