System Overview

The system overview diagrams illustrate the connection layout for the Crestron Flex system. They show how the UC Engine, Soundbar, Laptop, and Touch Screen are interconnected. Two primary connection methods are depicted: Direct Connection and Network Connection.

Direct Connection: This setup shows the UC Engine connected to the Soundbar, Laptop, and Touch Screen using various cables. The Touch Screen is powered via a PoE injector connected to the UC Engine using a direct connect adapter.

Network Connection: This setup is for systems managed by the XiO Cloud® service. It shows the UC Engine connected via a LAN cable, with the Soundbar, Laptop, and Touch Screen also connected, implying network connectivity. The diagram notes to remove the direct connect adapter when using a network connection.

A legend indicates cable types: CAT6a (blue), USB (grey), CAT5e (orange), HDMI (red), and Power (yellow).

Make Connections

Follow these steps to connect the system components:

Direct Connection: Make UC Engine connections as shown in the illustrations. The touch screen can communicate with the UC Engine over a direct connection. Use the direct connect adapter to connect the touch screen's PoE injector to the UC Engine. Do not use the direct connect adapter to connect the UC Engine to the network.

Connections involve:

Network Connection: If the system is to be managed by the XiO Cloud® service, make a network connection. When a network connection is used, disconnect the direct connect adapter from the UC Engine.

Connections involve:

Connect Displays

Connect displays to the UC Engine:

Connect Soundbar

Connect the soundbar to the UC Engine using the provided USB and Power cables. Ensure the soundbar is connected to the correct USB port on the UC Engine. The connection path involves a USB connection from the UC Engine to a device labeled HD-CONV-USB-200 (preconnected), which then connects to the soundbar.

Connect Laptop

Connect a laptop to the content ingest device (HD-CONV-USB-200) using a 20 ft (6.1 m) HDMI cable.

Cable Bundling

Bundle the cables to the bracket assembly using the integrated cable tie wraps. The cable tie wraps are reusable.

⚙️ Configure

Apply Power

Press the power button on the bottom of the UC Engine and apply power to all other devices in the system.
