Introduction

The BC-BS801DII is a 1D barcode reader equipped with a 1D scan engine, designed to meet various needs. It supports iOS, Android, and Windows devices via Bluetooth HID, SPP, or BLE communication.

Usage

  1. To power on the barcode reader, press and hold the "SCAN button" for 3 seconds until a beep sound is heard.
  2. When using the Bluetooth HID profile, you must enable Bluetooth on the connected device and set the input mode to English.
  3. The device will automatically power off after 30 minutes of inactivity (default setting). To manually turn it off, scan the "Power OFF" barcode on page 3.

Keep this document in a place where users can always refer to it.

The following are important points to observe to ensure safe and correct use of the product, and to prevent harm to yourself or others, or damage to property:

  1. Do not place the device in locations exposed to direct sunlight or high temperatures.
  2. Do not use the barcode reader in extremely humid environments or under conditions of rapid temperature change.
  3. Do not damage the battery. Damaging the battery may cause explosion or fire.

About Charging

Charge the barcode reader for 3-4 hours before using it for the first time. If the battery level is low, the barcode reader may not power on, or it may cause malfunctions. Refer to page 10 for interpretation of the battery LED status.

Warning: Charge the barcode reader for at least 15 minutes before powering it on.

Warning: For long-term storage, charge the battery once a month to prevent malfunctions.

Power On

To power on the barcode reader, press and hold the "SCAN button" for 3 seconds. The device will emit a "♪ Beep" sound.

To power off the device, scan the "Setting Start" barcode (#SETUPE1) followed by the "Power OFF" barcode (@PWROFF) in sequence.

The device will automatically power off after 30 minutes of inactivity (default setting).

Connecting to Smartphone/Tablet

iPhone Pairing

  1. Press and hold the "SCAN button" for 3 seconds. The device will power on with a "♪ Beep" sound, and the Function LED will blink blue slowly.
  2. Tap "Settings" on your iPhone.
  3. Tap "Bluetooth".
  4. Turn "Bluetooth" ON.
  5. Select "BS80+XXXX" (where XXXX represents the serial number) to connect.
  6. Once pairing is complete, the device will emit a "♪ Beep" sound.
  7. The status will display as "Connected" upon successful pairing.

Android Pairing

Bluetooth pairing procedures vary by Android manufacturer. Please consult your Android device's manual or the manufacturer's website for specific instructions.

  1. Open the Android device's settings screen. Navigate to the Bluetooth connection item and turn "Bluetooth" ON.
  2. In the menu, such as "Add new device" or "Pair new device", search for the product.
  3. Select "BS80+XXXX" (where XXXX represents the serial number) to connect.

This product complies with Bluetooth standards. Devices communicating with this product must support HID, SPP, or BLE. Connection may not be possible with Bluetooth devices using other profiles.

Obstacles or radio wave conditions between this product and the connected device may affect the product's communication speed and range. The status of the connected device may also influence the barcode reader's communication speed and range.

Optimal Barcode Scanning

Adjust the scan angle and distance to the barcode so that the scan line is approximately 8mm longer than the barcode. The barcode cannot be read vertically.

Optimal scan distance: 7-20cm (may vary depending on the barcode).

Diagrams illustrate correct scanning with the scan line covering the barcode, and incorrect scanning where the line is too short, too long, or misaligned.

[SCAN Button]

Press the button to scan a barcode. Press and hold for 3 seconds to power on the device.

[Delete Button]

Deletes the most recently scanned barcode data. This function is available only when the device is set to [Data Collector] mode (refer to page 16).

[Function Button]

When connected to an iOS device, pressing the Function button toggles the software keyboard on and off.

Special Button Operations

  • [SCAN Button] + [Delete Button]: Press both buttons simultaneously to check the battery level via the Battery LED (see page 10).
  • [SCAN Button] + [Function Button]: Press and hold both buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds to switch between Bluetooth mode and USB mode.
  • [Delete Button] + [Function Button]: Press both buttons simultaneously to disconnect pairing and enable detection of other Bluetooth devices. Press and hold both buttons simultaneously for 7 seconds to reset all settings to factory defaults.

1 When the battery level drops, the Battery LED will flash red, and the barcode reader will beep.

2 Pressing the "SCAN button" + "Delete button" simultaneously allows you to check the battery level.

About Setting Barcodes

  1. Power on the device, scan the "Setting Start" barcode to begin setup. After completing settings, scan the "Setting End" barcode.
  2. Barcodes with "**" indicate factory default settings.
  3. Windows 7 or earlier devices cannot be used in Bluetooth HID mode.

Factory Default Settings

Scan the following barcode to return to factory default settings: @FACDEF

Read Sound Settings

Enable read sound: @GRBENA1

Disable read sound: @GRBENA0

Vibration Notification Settings

Enable vibration notification: @GRVENA1

Disable vibration notification: @GRVENA0

Communication Mode Settings

Set communication mode:

  • @INTERF10: **Bluetooth HID-KBW
  • @INTERF9: Bluetooth SPP
  • @INTERF11: Bluetooth BLE

Scan the "Setting End" barcode (#SETUPE0) after configuring settings.

About Transmission Modes

The product supports two modes: [Synchronous Transmission] mode, which sends barcode information wirelessly in real-time, and [Data Collector] mode, which stores barcode information in the internal memory and transmits it to the connected device at a chosen time.

[Synchronous Transmission] Mode: Sends barcode information wirelessly via Bluetooth.

[Data Collector] Mode: Stores barcode information and transmits it at a chosen time.

Warranty Regulations

1. Warranty Period

The warranty period for this product is one year from the date of purchase (shipment date). The purchase/shipment date is managed by the product's serial number, so please be careful not to damage or remove the serial number label attached to the main unit.

2. Warranty Content

If the product malfunctions during the warranty period under normal use as described in the precautions of this document, it will be repaired free of charge (or replaced with an equivalent unit). Please contact the retailer or our company and bring or send the product. Shipping costs for sending the product will be borne by the customer, and return shipping costs will be borne by our company.

3. Warranty Coverage

The warranty covers only the main unit of the product. Accessories (such as USB cables) are not covered by the warranty, except in cases of initial defects.

4. Out of Warranty Service

Paid repairs will be necessary in the following cases, even within the warranty period:

  1. When the serial number label on the main unit cannot be confirmed.
  2. When the warranty card is not presented.
  3. Malfunctions and damage due to careless handling or misuse.
  4. Malfunctions and damage due to repair or modification by parties other than our company.
  5. Malfunctions and damage caused by fire, earthquake, flood, lightning, other natural disasters, public pollution, abnormal voltage, or damage resulting from connected equipment.

5. Disclaimer

Our company shall not be held responsible for any direct or indirect damages incurred due to product failure or its use.

6. Warranty Validity

This warranty is valid only within Japan.
