Quick Start

For those who prefer to get started quickly, this section provides a reference to help you use the Control One for the first time.

Connect Cables

Ensure the power is off before connecting or disconnecting the cable to the Control One. Using a standard 5-pin DIN cable (MIDI-type), connect the Control One to the jack on the rear panel of the 2112 SGS, GSP-2101, Valve FX, or Legend II labeled FOOT CONTROLLER. DO NOT CONNECT ANYTHING ELSE TO THIS JACK, AS IT MAY DAMAGE THE DEVICE. If MIDI control is desired, connect MIDI devices to the MIDI IN jack.

Apply Power

When you turn on the 2112 SGS, GSP-2101, Valve FX, or Legend II, the foot controller will also power up.

Select Program

Begin playing your guitar and choose any program using the footswitches. For the 2101, Valve FX, or Legend II, you can also press the Program footswitch once and enter the desired program number using the number footswitches. The unit will change to the selected program.

Select Bank (2112 Only)

Scroll through the 19 Banks of the 2112 by pressing the <Bank Up> or <Bank Down> footswitch. Once a bank is selected, press one of the flashing footswitches to activate the bank.

Introduction

Congratulations on your purchase of the Control One Foot Controller. The Control One is a powerful remote foot controller designed to leverage the high-performance, real-time control capabilities of the DigiTech 2112 SGS, GSP-2101, Valve FX, and Legend II Guitar Processors. It is also compatible with Johnson Amplification products like the Millennium 150 and Marquis 100. The unit features ten programmable footswitches, dedicated bypass and Program/Bank selector switches, and a built-in continuous controller pedal.

This owner's manual is your guide to understanding the Control One. Read it carefully and experiment with its features. DigiTech welcomes your ideas for unique applications.

Front Panel Controls and Functions

The front panel of the Control One features a 20-character vacuum-fluorescent display, ten programmable footswitches, a dedicated bypass footswitch, a Select switch, and a built-in continuous controller pedal.

Program Switches

Each programmable switch is numbered (0-9) and can be programmed for various functions.

Bank Up / (Hold) Tuner Switch (2112 only)

Press once to move up through the Bank menu. Successive presses move to the next Bank. Press any flashing footswitch to activate the selected Bank. Press and hold to enter Tuner mode on the 2112.

Bank Down / (Hold) Bypass Switch (2112 only)

Press once to move down through the Bank menu. Successive presses move to the next bank. Press any flashing footswitch to activate the selected Bank. Press and hold to enter Bypass mode on the 2112.

Program / Bank / Tuner Selector (Decals included for 2101, Valve FX or Legend II)

This switch allows selection of Banks or random Program number recall. It also provides access to the tuner on the GSP-2101 and Valve FX (press three times).

Bypass Switch (Decals included for 2101, Valve FX or Legend II)

When active, this switch passes the input signal directly to the output(s) of the GSP-2101, Valve FX, or Legend II, bypassing all active effects.

Continuous Control Pedal

Allows real-time control of any parameter in the 2112 SGS, GSP-2101, Valve FX, or Legend II. Refer to the respective unit's owner's manual for detailed information on Continuous Controller assignments.

Rear Panel Connections

The rear panel includes the control output (for use with 2112 SGS, GSP-2101, Valve FX, or Legend II) and an external continuous controller input for an additional CC pedal or source.

Control Output

A 5-pin DIN connector (MIDI-type) that sends all control information from the Control One to the connected processor. It also supplies power to the Control One, eliminating the need for a separate power supply. IMPORTANT: This is NOT a MIDI output and should only be connected to the dedicated Foot Controller connector on the compatible DigiTech units.

External Continuous Controller Input

A 1/4" jack that accepts a second continuous control device (e.g., volume pedal) for use with the connected processor. It responds to control voltage and resistance pedals and can be used in conjunction with the built-in CC pedal.

Section 2 - Basic Operation

Using the Control One

Follow these steps to connect and use the Control One with your 2112 SGS, GSP-2101, Valve FX, or Legend II:

Section 3 - Programming the Control One

All programming and setup for the Control One is performed from the front panel of the connected 2112 SGS, GSP-2101, Valve FX, or Legend II. Setup menus related to the Control One are typically found in the Foot Controller section of the Utility menu.

For detailed information on how the Control One interacts with the 2112 SGS, GSP-2101, Valve FX, or Legend II, refer to the owner's manual for each specific product. While features are common, setup procedures may vary slightly.

When connecting the Control One to the GSP-2101, Valve FX, or Legend II for the first time, the CC pedal requires calibration for correct function. This is accessed by pressing the <UTILITY> button on the respective unit. Consult the unit's owner's manual for detailed instructions.

The 2112 SGS automatically calibrates the Control One upon connection.
