Specialized Modes
KEY1 and KEY2
Tailored for analog learning mode-style radios. The SWC module's resistor chain precisely matches required resistance for seamless compatibility with these head units.
KEY1 and KEY2 EXTEND
Extends each button press to 2 seconds during learning. Useful for steering wheel buttons where holding for 2 seconds is not feasible. Automatically prolongs each press for easier head unit programming. Not for normal use, only for teaching.
ANALOG SINGLE WIRE and ANALOG SINGLE WIRE EXTEND
Transmits unique values through the IR SWC single wire, crucial for learning-style head units with only one learning input wire. Ensures seamless operation across various head unit setups. Analog Extend mode functions identically to KEY1 and KEY2 Extend but transmits through a single wire.
Connection Guide
Before Installation
Essential to remove and disconnect the factory stereo. Refer to the vehicle owner's manual or seek professional assistance.
Setting the Dipswitches
Consult the dipswitch selection guide for the appropriate configuration. Press downward to activate a dipswitch ('ON' position). Refer to the diagram for an example of the 'KENWOOD1' dipswitch configuration.
Installation Steps
- Connect the 16-PIN head unit connection lead and the 18-PIN steering wheel harness connectors to their respective ports on the interface.
- Connect the head unit connection lead to the steering wheel remote input on the rear of the aftermarket stereo. Connection methods vary (3.5mm jack, SWC IR wire, KEY1/KEY2 wired inputs). Refer to your aftermarket stereo's manual for specific guidance.
- Connect the power/speaker ISO connector from the interface to the corresponding ISO connection on the aftermarket stereo. For stereos without an ISO connector, refer to the "Wiring Key" on Page 2. Additional "flying" wires may be present for functionalities like parking brake trigger, reverse gear, and speed pulse.
- Connect the vehicle-specific connectors from the interface harness to the corresponding connectors on the vehicle harness.
- Connect the flying wires on the harness to the rear of the stereo, if applicable.
- Connect the antenna adapter to the vehicle's existing antenna connection.
- If installing an aftermarket reverse camera, connect the yellow RCA from the harness to the camera's yellow RCA.
- If installing a DAB antenna, connect the DAB aerial connector to the rear of the new stereo.
- After connecting all wires and accessories, thoroughly test the stereo and steering wheel controls before reassembling the dashboard. If controls are unresponsive, inspect connections and check dipswitch settings. Repeat connection process if necessary.
Steering Wheel Control Configuration
The steering wheel buttons can be re-configured or assigned dual functions, depending on the vehicle and aftermarket radio support. Buttons can be programmed for short press and long press commands. Custom configurations can be made via PC, MAC, or smartphone using the USB port. Button Remapping instructions are available on the ACV website.
Button Mapping Example:
- A: Volume Up
- B: Volume Down
- C: Track Up
- D: Track Down
- E: Source
- F: Pick Up
- G: Hang Up
- H: Voice Control
Note: Actual steering wheel control configurations may vary by vehicle.
Connection Diagram
The connection diagram illustrates the interface components and their connections:
