Dual Mode You can enjoy the sound in stereo by using two speakers. For enjoying Dual Mode, you need to purchase another speaker. Dual mode is only supported with the same model. IPX5 is "Degrees of protection against ingress of water" However, this system is not completely water-tight. Avoid the cases below. y Do not use unit under water or other liquid. y When battery is charging, do not expose the unit to water. y When port is exposed to water, wipe off it with a soft dry cloth. Charging with the AC adapter This speaker uses built-in battery. Before using it, charge the battery by connecting the AC Adapter. 1. Connect the supplied USB cable to the AC adapter. 2. Connect the USB cable to DC IN 5V port of the speaker. LED 1 <With the power on> Description Green White Battery is fully charged. 2 <With the power off> 3. Plug the AC power cord into an AC outlet. Green Off Operating (Not supplied) Red Battery is charging. , Note y If you listen to the music while charging, it will take longer to charge. y When the speaker is not charging by overheating, LED 1 (Battery LED) blinks red and amber alternately. And charging is stopped. y When the speaker's battery is fully charged, the LED 1 (Battery LED) turn on green for 15 seconds. , Note Operating time is approx. 5 hours. It is based on what fully charged the battery, continuous playback using 50 % volume level. It may vary depending on the battery status and operational conditions. > Caution AC adapter is not supplied. It is recommended that you use the 5 V AC adapter approved by LG Electronics Inc. (more than 2 A) with this speaker because of danger of explosion. If you do not use the recommended adapter, charging is unavailable or charging time may differ. 10 Operating Operating Checking Battery status If the power turned on, you can check the charging status by pressing the 1 button for 2 seconds. Then LED 1 (Battery LED) light will change depending on battery charging status. LED 1 Description Status LED 1 (Battery 2 Green LED) turns on green. 70 % Amber LED 1 (Battery LED) turns on amber. 10 % LED 1 (Battery LED) continuously Red blinks in red and sounds once. 10 % , Note y The LED 1 (Battery LED) turn on for 3 seconds, after the 1 button press for 2 seconds. y Checking Battery status is not checked when the speaker is charging. Basic Operations Using power button Operating 11 Bluetooth LED status Check the LED 2 (Bluetooth LED) blinks before connecting Bluetooth device. 2 Operating Power On / Off Press the 1 button. Bluetooth Connection LG-XG1(XX) Play the desired music on the Bluetooth device. After pairing, you can control playback using the buttons on the unit. (Page 12, 16-18) LED 2 Status Description LED 2 (Bluetooth LED) blinks with the sound. Searching for Bluetooth device. LED 2 (Bluetooth LED)turns on with the sound. Bluetooth device is connected. , Note y In AUX mode, LED 2 (Bluetooth LED) turns off. y Once pairing is performed, it does not need to be done again even if you turn off this unit. y When switching AUX mode to Bluetooth mode, LED 2 (Bluetooth LED) turns on but there is no sound. 12 Operating Operating Simple Operation Guide Function How to Status Power On Press the 1 button. LED 1 (Power LED) turns off with the sound. 2 Bluetooth pairing When LED 2 (Bluetooth LED) blinks, select LG-XG1 (XX) from device list on your Bluetooth device. LED 2 (Bluetooth LED) turns on with the sound. Volume control Press P or O. When this unit reaches minimum volume or maximum volume, you can hear beep sound. Play / Pause Press N. - Forward skip Press N twice. - Backward skip Press N three times. - Handsfree Press N. Receive and disconnect a call. Voice Command Press .. You can speak to operate the voice command of your smartphone through speaker's microphone Dual Mode Press and hold j for 2 seconds. If two speakers are connected, LED 1 (Dual Mode LED) turns on. And LED 2 (Bluetooth LED) of the Main speaker turns on and LED 2 (Bluetooth LED) of the Other speaker turns off with the sound. Bluetooth Initialization Press and hold j for 7 seconds. LED 1 (Power LED) and LED 2 (Bluetooth LED) blinks 4 times. , Note y You can adjust playback or volume by using your Bluetooth device. y After initializing Bluetooth, it needs to reconnect with Bluetooth device. (In case of iOS devices, try to reconnect with Bluetooth device after deleted existing connection on Bluetooth device.) Handsfree Function You can receive incoming call on your Bluetooth device to this unit. Connect the unit to a Bluetooth device. Function Receive a call. How to Press N. End the call. Press N. Reject a call. Press and hold N for 2 seconds Toggle between speaker and Press and hold N your phone during a call. for 2 seconds Mute Press .. Operating 13 , Note y During Handsfree Function, Voice Command is not supported. y Only smartphone is available to use this function. y To adjust the call volume, press P, O buttons on the unit. y In Dual Mode, you can receive a call on only main speaker due to audio howling. (Page 19-20) 2 Operating y On some Bluetooth devices, when an incoming call is received, it might ring the built-in ringtone, (ex. Android devices) The Built-in ringtone is not adjustable. y Even if you switch to AUX mode while in Bluetooth connection status, you can still use this function. y When you receive a call by using the talk button on your phone, the call will be connected to your phone. If you want to talk via the speaker, It will need to be changed to speaker mode on your phone. (Only iOS devices) y If you do not want to use this function, disable the Bluetooth setting on your phone. Connect Bluetooth again to use this mode. 14 Operating Voice Command You can speak to operate the voice command of your smartphone through speaker's microphone by using the voice command app or the Siri. , Note Make sure use the smart device that has voice 2 command. , Note y During Handsfree Function, Voice Command is not supported. y When voice command time limit exceeded on smart devices, this function automatically cancel. y It is recommended that you use the Google app (Google Assistant, Google Now etc.) when enjoying this function by using Android device. Google app is provided by Google. Some of location may not support by Google Policy. y If you want to cancel Voice command mode, press the . button again when this function is activating. y For more information, refer to voice command app or Siri. y Speaking at near microphone will increase the success rate. y It may not work depending on the Bluetooth device. Operating 1. Connect the speaker to smart device through Bluetooth. 2. Press the . button to active voice command of your smart device. 3. Activate voice command app as follow. - Android O/S : Select the voice command app. - iOS O/S : Siri activates automatically. 4. Make a request to voice command app or Siri through microphone of speaker. Operating 15 Listening to Music from Your External Device 1. Turn the power on by pressing 1 button. 2. Connect the external device to the AUX (3.5mm) connector of the unit. 3. Turn the external device on and start playing. The unit can be used to listen to the music from many types of external device. , Note y When you connect the 3.5 mm stereo cable, the function is changed to AUX mode automatically. And then LED 2 (Bluetooth LED) turns off. 2 Operating y In AUX mode, speaker limits Bluetooth connection to prevent unintended Bluetooth connection. y When the j button is pressed during this mode, it will switch to Bluetooth mode. 3.5mm stereo cable y When you use Dual Mode, the AUX mode is not supported. (Not supplied) Operating 16 Operating Using BLUETOOTH® wireless technology Listening to music stored on the BLUETOOTH devices Pairing your unit and BLUETOOTH About BLUETOOTH device 2 Bluetooth is wireless communication technology for short range connection. The sound may be interrupted when the connection Before you start the pairing procedure, make sure the Bluetooth feature is turned on in to your Bluetooth device. Refer to your Bluetooth device's user guide. This unit is compatible with following profile. A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) HFP (Handsfree Profile) 2. Operate the Bluetooth device and perform the pairing operation. When searching for this unit with the Bluetooth device, a list of the devices found may appear in the Bluetooth device display depending on the type of Bluetooth device. Your unit appears as "LG-XG1 (XX)". Bluetooth ON LG-XG1(XX) 3. Select "LG-XG1 (XX)". LG-XG1(XX) , Note y XX means the last two digits of Bluetooth address. For example, if your unit has a Bluetooth address such as 9C:02:98:4A:F7:08, you will see "LG-XG1 (08)" on your Bluetooth device. y Depending on the Bluetooth device type, some devices have a different pairing way. For details about Bluetooth pairing, refer to your Bluetooth device manual. 4. When this unit is successfully connected with your Bluetooth device, LED 2 (Bluetooth LED) will turn on with the sound. 5. Listen to music. To play a music stored on your Bluetooth device, refer to your Bluetooth device's user guide. Operating 17 , Note y When using Bluetooth technology, you have to make a connection between the unit and the Bluetooth device as close as possible and keep the distance close. However you may experience issues in the cases below : - There is an obstacle between the unit and the Bluetooth device. Operating - There is a device using same frequency 2 with Bluetooth technology such as a medical equipment, a microwave or a wireless LAN device. y If Bluetooth connection does not work well, go to step 1 of "Pairing your unit and BLUETOOTH device" and try again. y The sound may be interrupted when the connection interfered by the other electronic wave. y Depending on the type of the device, you may not be able to use the Bluetooth function. y You can enjoy Bluetooth function using Smart phone, Notebook, etc.. y The more distance between the unit and the Bluetooth device, the lower the sound quality becomes. y Bluetooth connection will be disconnected when the unit is turned off or the Bluetooth device gets too far from the unit. y When Bluetooth connection is disconnected, connect the Bluetooth device to the unit again. y Bluetooth connection will be maintained even if you change the Bluetooth function to a different function. y When you connect a Bluetooth device (iOS device etc.) to this unit or operate the device, the volume level will be synchronized between each device. y When the unit is not connected, LED 2 (Bluetooth LED) will blink. y When you use the Bluetooth function, adjust the volume to a proper level on the Bluetooth device. 18 Operating Controls connected Bluetooth device You can control connected Bluetooth device from the unit; play, pause, skip, volume , Note y Only Android OS and iOS is available to use this function. y This function may not be supported depending on the Bluetooth device, or 2 operated differently. Then the speakers are ready to Dual Mode. - speaker : Main speaker is to set L (Left) channel and turns on LED 2 (Bluetooth LED). - speaker : Other speaker is set to R (Right) channel and turns off LED 2 (Bluetooth LED). , Note y It takes up to 1 minute to connect to Dual Mode. y Using Dual Mode is limited to only XG1 Model and is unavailable on other Portable Bluetooth Speaker. y If the speaker is charging, LED 1 (Dual Mode LED) turn on red and white alternately. y If you are not connected to Bluetooth device, main speaker's LED 2 (Bluetooth LED) blinks. y The speaker depends on MAC address of Bluetooth. 3. Operating 21 Other Operation Resetting If have a malfunction with the speaker, press the RESET button using an object like a thin pin. Then speaker turns off. Press 1 button to try turning on speaker again. , Note Press the RESET button after disconnect the charging cable. Notice for Auto Power Off If there is no input signal or button operation, the speaker turns off automatically after 15 minutes. The function can be turned on or off. Recharge the battery. y Connect the unit to the power supply with the AC adapter. y The unit or your smart device's volume is set to minimum. Check and adjust the volume of the unit or Bluetooth device's volume. No sound or sound distortion. y When you use an external device at high volume, the sound quality may be deteriorated. Lower the volume of the devices. y If you use the unit for purposes other than listening to music, the sound quality may be lowered or the unit may not work properly. 3 y Switch Bluetooth off and on again on your Bluetooth device, then try pairing again. Bluetooth pairing does not work well. y Be sure your Bluetooth device is on. y Remove the obstacle in the path of the Bluetooth device and the unit. y Depending on the type of the Bluetooth device or surrounding environment, your device may not be paired with the unit. The unit does not operate normally. y If the battery was fully discharged, the stored Bluetooth information can be deleted. Previous setting may not be saved when the unit's power is shut off. y In case of malfunction, please use the unit in proper place where the temperature or humidity is not so high or low. y In case of overload, LED 1 (Battery LED) blinks red and amber alternately. Please turn the power off and then on again. Above solutions do not work. y Press the RESET button on speaker using an object like a thin pin. (Page 21) Troubleshooting 23 Prevention of product misuse To prevent misuse of the product, please be sure to check the contents below. Precautions for installing the product · Do not install the product in an unstable or vibrating place, such as on a shaking shelf or inclined surface. Install the product on a firm and level surface. - Otherwise, the product may fall or tip over and cause injury. - If you install the product on an unstable surface, the product may not work properly. · If you install the product on a piece of furniture or shelf, make sure that the bottom front of the product does not protrude. Always use a piece of furniture or shelf that fits the product size. - Otherwise, the product may lose its balance and fall, causing injury or product damage. · Install the product in a safe place. Otherwise, a child may bump into an edge of the product and get injured. · Install the product in a place free from electromagnetic interference for proper operation. 3 Troubleshooting · If you install the product in a place that does not meet the general use conditions, an unexpected quality problem may arise. So, make sure that you contact the service centre first before installing the product in such a place. · Do not keep the product in a place where the temperature is too high (above 35 °C) or too low (below 5 °C) or a place with too much humidity. · Avoid places exposed to direct sunlight or heat, e.g., near a heater. Do not use or keep flammable sprays or substances near the product. - Otherwise, there is a risk of explosion or fire. · Do not install the product in a place with too much moisture, dust or soot. - Otherwise, it may cause a fire or electric shock. · Do not install the product in a narrow space, such as inside a bookshelf, that does not ventilate well. Do not cover the product with a table cover or curtain. - Otherwise, it may increase the product temperature, causing a breakdown or fire. · Connect the power plug of the product to a power outlet that is easily accessible. - When a fire or other problem occurs in the product, you must be able to remove the power plug quickly. · Do not connect multiple products to one power outlet at the same time. - Otherwise, it may cause overheating, resulting in a fire. 24 Troubleshooting Troubleshooting Precautions for using the product · Do not lift or move the product while it is operating. - Otherwise, it may cause a breakdown. · When moving the product, pull out the power cord and all cables connected to the product. - Otherwise, it may cause a fire or electric shock. · Stop using the product immediately if you notice smoke or a strange odor.
