Installation Sequence
⚠️ BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH THE INSTALLATION, UNPLUG THE NEGATIVE TERMINAL FROM ALL OF THE BATTERIES, TO AVOID FIRE, DAMAGE TO THE AMPLIFIER AND THE USER HIMSELF.
- Mount the amplifier in a location that allows easy access to the connectors.
- Install the power cables from the battery to the fuse holder or circuit breaker, using appropriately sized cables. Make all connections and install fuse holders/breakers, but keep fuses out or breakers in the "OFF" position.
- ⚠️ THE MAXIMUM DISTANCE FOR THE INSTALLATION OF THE FUSE/CIRCUIT BREAKER IS 12 INCHES (30cm) AWAY FROM THE BATTERY.
- Connect the power cables to the amplifier, observing polarity. Connect all positive (+) cables from the fuse holder/breaker to the amplifier's positive connector and all negative power cables from the batteries to the amplifier's negative connector.
- The ground cable must be as short as possible and connected to the vehicle chassis and the battery negative terminal. Ensure the connection point on the chassis is free of paint.
- Install the signal input cables (RCA or High Level) away from the power cables.
- Connect the RCA or high level signal input cables to the head unit and amplifiers.
- Install the audio output cables with appropriate gauge, keeping them distant from power and audio input cables.
- Connect the audio output cables to the amplifier and speakers, respecting positive (+) and negative (-) polarities.
- Install the remote cable alongside the power cables, using at least 1.5mm² (15 AWG) cable.
- Connect the remote power cable to the amplifier's "REM" terminal, typically from the head unit's remote power output (unless using high level inputs).
- Before powering the system, verify all connections for mistakes or short-circuits on power and ground cables.
- Reconnect the battery ground terminals.
- Ensure the head unit is turned off, then insert fuses or switch circuit breakers ON.
- Turn on the main unit. The amplifier's "POWER ON" LED will illuminate, indicating it is in operation.
Minimum recommended installation distance between amplifiers: 1.18 inches (30mm) *For installations with more than one amplifier, second unit not included. Merely illustrative images.
Electrical Dimensioning and Audio Inputs
ELECTRICAL DIMENSIONING
For proper operation of your SounDigital amplifier, ensure correct dimensioning of the electrical system and cables used. The table below shows the minimum recommended cable sections for GND, +12VDC, and speaker output cables based on the amplifier's power output.
Parameter | 400 WRMS |
---|---|
POWER CABLE (+12VDC) | 6mm² (9 AWG) |
GROUND CABLE (GND) | 6mm² (9 AWG) |
SPEAKER CABLE | 2 x 1.5mm² (15 AWG) |
SounDigital recommends using only OFC (Oxygen Free Copper) cables for installations. Copper-clad aluminum wire (CCAW) must not be used.
AUDIO INPUTS
RCA inputs
All RCA inputs must be connected for the amplifier to work properly.
Diagram shows RCA cables connecting from a head unit to the CH1 and CH2 RCA inputs on the amplifier. Ground (GND) and Remote (REM) connections are also shown.
High level signal input
All High level signal inputs must be connected for the amplifier to work properly.
Diagram shows speaker wires from a head unit connecting to the High Level Input terminals on the amplifier. No Remote (REM) connection is needed when using High Level input.
High level input must be used when the main unit does not have RCA outputs. When High level input is used, no remote connection is required, as the amplifier recognizes the audio signal and switches on. If your source unit is not able to turn on the amplifier through the High level input, the remote input should be connected normally.
⚠️ RCA AND HIGH LEVEL INPUTS SHOULD NOT BE USED SIMULTANEOUSLY OR YOU MAY DAMAGE THE AMPLIFIER.

High Pass ("HP"): Change the switch to "HP" position. All frequencies above 80Hz will be reproduced as shown in the figure below.
Diagram shows a frequency response curve starting flat above a crossover frequency (fc) and rolling off at 12dB/octave below it.
Low Pass ("LP"): Change the switch to "LP" position. All frequencies below 80Hz will be reproduced as shown in the figure below.
Diagram shows a frequency response curve rolling off at 12dB/octave above a crossover frequency (fc) and remaining flat below it.
Battery Connection Diagram
When connecting one or more battery banks to supply the necessary current to the amplifier, it is recommended to use batteries of the same brand, model, and if possible, the same manufacturing lot for maximum system performance. For ideal energy performance, connect all batteries to positive and negative busbars, and then connect the busbars to the amplifier, as shown in the diagram below:
⚠️ It is mandatory to install the fuse at a maximum distance of 12 inches from the battery.
Diagram shows a recommended setup with two batteries connected to busbars (+ and -), with fuses on the positive lines near each battery. Cables of equal length connect batteries to busbars, and busbars to the amplifier. A green checkmark indicates this is the correct method.
All cables, positive and negative, connected from the battery to the busbar must be the same length. Likewise, the cables connected from the busbar to the amplifier.
Battery connections without the use of a busbar, as shown in the example below, must be avoided. This setup decreases the efficiency of supplying power to the system.
❌ Battery connections without the use of a busbar must be avoided.
Diagram shows a discouraged setup with batteries connected directly in series without busbars, with fuses. A red cross indicates this is incorrect. It also reiterates the mandatory fuse placement.
