Note on the manual
Thank you for purchasing our wireless activator. Please read through these instructions so that you will know how to operate your model properly. After finishing reading the instructions, keep this manual in a safe place for future reference.
If the wireless AA activator works properly on your car, it is not necessary to upgrade a new firmware online, as it may affect the current usage of the wireless AA.
Connection Steps
- Connect the box to the original car USB Data interface. Press the 'APP' button or navigate to the App-Connect page. (Note: The interface image may not be displayed on the screen). [USB symbol]
- Turn on the Bluetooth of your device (e.g., S9-S22). Search for the Bluetooth Device naming: "smartBox-****". Pair it and wait for the AA 'Connected to your car' notification. [Bluetooth symbol]
- After the connection is established, please wait a few seconds for the AA interface to be shown on your car's display. [Car display showing AA interface]
Upgrade Steps for Android
- Remove the wireless activator from the car's USB data port and connect it to a USB Power Charger instead.
- Turn on Wi-Fi and join the 'smartBox-xxxx' network. The password is '88888888'.
- Open a web browser on your device and enter the IP address '192.168.1.101'. Press 'Switch P2P' first.
- On the IP setting page, a confirmation 'switch P2P OK!!!' should appear. Press 'Submit'.
- After switching to 'P2P' Wi-Fi mode, return to your device's Wi-Fi settings.
- Navigate to the 'Wi-Fi Direct' function and rejoin the 'smartBox-xxxx' network on your Android mobile device.
- Return to the IP setting page (192.168.1.101). You can now upgrade the firmware by pressing 'Update'.
- Wait for 3-4 minutes until the white indicator light stops blinking. Then, reconnect the activator to your car for use. [Indicator light status]
Questions & Answers
Q1: Why it doesn't work for Sony XAV-AX5600?
A: I'm so sorry that the current firmware version still doesn't work well with Sony radios, especially for the XAV-AX series. The Android Auto icon may not be activated on some Sony radio screens, preventing the A2A adapter from working. Without the 'smartBox-xxxx' Bluetooth device signal, it's not possible to connect AA wirelessly.
Q2: I always fail to upgrade the firmware, are there any tips?
A: If the upgrade fails multiple times, please ensure that the 'smartBox_xxxx' network device can still be searched and joined in your Android Wi-Fi settings.
- It is necessary to 'Switch P2P' on the IP setting page first, and then rejoin the 'smartBox-xxxx' network in your Android's 'Wi-Fi Direct' settings.
- The upgrade process usually takes 3-4 minutes. The orange/green indicator light will continue flashing until the upgrade is successful.
- The 'smartBox_xxxx' Wi-Fi device should be 'forgotten' (removed from saved networks) after the upgrade is finished.
- To avoid signal interference, please forget or disconnect other Android Bluetooth devices before connecting to the adapter, such as the vehicle's Bluetooth or Bluetooth headphones.
