Instructions for Use

Selecting the Correct Pan

  • Induction cooking uses an electromagnetic coil to convert energy into heat. When the hob is on and an induction-suitable pan is in place, a magnetic field heats the pan and food.
  • Use only flat-bottomed pans suitable for induction. Test suitability by holding a magnet to the pan base; if it sticks, the pan is suitable. Unsuitable cookware will not be detected.
  • The hob is suitable for pans with a base diameter of 12cm – 26cm.
  • Metal cooking utensils left in the pan can become hot. Use heat-resistant, wooden, or silicone utensils.

Turning On and Off

  • Place the pan with food on the hob. Turn on by pressing and holding the On/Off button [on/off-symbol]. The six red mode lights will blink.
  • To turn off, press the On/Off button [on/off-symbol]. The fan will run for a minute to cool the hob.

Using the Mode and Temperature Functions

  • Press the MODE button until the LED for the desired mode illuminates. The hob will emit a sound as the coil activates and the magnet heats.
  • Adjust power/temperature by sweeping your finger around the heat control dial. Red indicator lights show the power and equivalent temperature.

NOTE: Power/temperature can only be adjusted on Hot Pot, Pan Fry, and Stir Fry modes. Other modes have pre-set power/temperatures. Refer to the 'Guide to Cooking Modes' table.

Timer

The hob has a timer function to prevent food from boiling dry or burning by automatically switching off after a set time.

To set the timer:

  • Set your dish to the desired 'Mode' setting (see 'A Guide to Cooking Modes' table).
  • Press the 'Timer' button. The display shows '000' (minutes). Sweep your finger around the heat control dial to set the desired cooking time.
  • NOTE: On 'Simmer' mode, the default time is 120 minutes.
  • The hob waits 6 seconds after time setting before heating. The display then counts down the remaining time.
  • At the end of the timed session, 'End' is displayed. The hob turns off, and the fan runs for a minute to cool.
  • During timer cooking on Hot Pot, Pan Fry, and Stir Fry modes, heat can be adjusted using the heat control dial.
  • To stop the timer, turn the hob off and on again; it will reset to '000'.

Child Safety Lock

To activate the lock: Select mode and power/temperature, then press the 'Child safety lock' button for 2 seconds. A red light indicates the lock is on. Only the On/Off switch [on/off-symbol] can be used; other buttons are locked. Press the 'Child safety lock' button again for 2 seconds to unlock.

  • Due to its efficiency, start with a lower cooking temperature than usual.
  • The hob may not look hot after use but can be very warm. Do not touch until completely cool.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question: Why does the hob not recognise the pan?

Answer: The pan may not be compatible. Check if a magnet sticks to the base; if not, it won't work.

Question: Why does my food keep burning?

Answer: The hob is efficient and cooks faster at lower temperatures than gas/electric hobs. Reduce cooking time and temperature.

Question: Why has the hob started cooking but then turned itself off?

Answer: Your pan may have spilled over. Lift the pan, dry the hob, return the pan, and turn on again.

Question: Why has the hob stopped cooking and displays 'E1' or 'E2'?

Answer: Power source voltage is too high or too low. Turn off the hob and check the power supply matches the rating label.

Question: Why has the hob stopped cooking and displays 'E3' or 'E9'?

Answer: Your pan is overheating or dry cooking. Remove the pan, let it cool, then add oil or water and resume cooking.

Question: Why has the hob stopped cooking and displays 'E4' or 'E10'?

Answer: The fan air cooling vent may be blocked, the fan has stopped, or the room is too hot. Switch off the hob, ensure vents are clear, and remove heat-emitting items nearby. Contact Lakeland customer care on 015394 88100 if the problem persists.

Question: Why has the hob stopped cooking and displays 'E5', 'E6', 'E12', or 'E13'?

Answer: There is a fault with the temperature sensor. Contact Lakeland customer care on 015394 88100.

Care and Cleaning

  • Unplug the hob and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  • Clean the unit and control panel with a clean, damp cloth and dry before storing.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, steel wool, or abrasive materials. Specialist glass hob cleaner may be used for the surface if required, but test on a small area first.
  • Periodically check all parts before use.
  • Never immerse the hob in water or any other liquid.
  • Store the hob with the power cable loosely coiled; never wrap it tightly around the unit.

Electrical Connections

The appliance is fitted with a fused three-pin plug (BS1363) suitable for homes with current sockets.

Changing the 13 Amp Fuse

Use a 13 amp BS1362 fuse. Only BSI or ASTA approved fuses are permitted. Consult a qualified electrician if unsure about plug or fuse selection.

Note: If replacing a fuse on a moulded plug with a fuse cover, refit the cover. The appliance must not be used without a fuse cover. Replacement covers are available from electrical shops.

This appliance complies with EU Directives: 2014/35/EU (Low Voltage Directive) and 2014/30/EU (EMC Directive).
