Introduction
The Gallagher T15 Reader is a smart card and Bluetooth® low energy technology reader. It can be installed as either an entry reader or exit reader. The reader sends information to the Gallagher Controller and acts upon information sent from the Gallagher Controller. The reader itself does not make any access decisions.

Power Supply
The Gallagher T15 Reader operates on a supply voltage of 13.6 Vdc. A linear or good quality switched-mode power supply is recommended. Low quality or noisy power supplies may affect performance.
Cabling
A minimum cable size of 4 core 24 AWG (0.2 mm²) stranded security cable is required for data and power transmission. Consideration must be given to power supply voltage drop and data requirements when using a single cable.
HBUS Cabling Topology
The HBUS communications protocol is based on the RS485 standard, supporting distances up to 500 m (1640 ft). Cabling should follow a "daisy chain" topology; "T" or "Star" topologies are not permitted between HBUS devices. For "Star" or "Home-Run" wiring, HBUS 4H/8H Modules and HBUS Door Modules can be used. End devices require 120 ohms termination resistance. For Gallagher Controller 6000, connect the supplied on-board termination jumpers. For readers, connect the orange (termination) wire to the green (HBUS A) wire. HBUS Modules have integrated termination.
[Diagrammatic representation of HBUS topology: Shows valid daisy chain connections between HBUS devices and a Controller 6000, with notes indicating that "T" or "Star" circuits are not permitted between HBUS devices. Includes examples of termination jumper usage.]

Notes:
- Shielded cable may reduce obtainable length; ground at the Controller end only.
- Other cable types may reduce operating distances and performance.
- HBUS supports up to 20 readers per cable. Each reader requires 13.6 Vdc. Cable length and reader count impact voltage at each reader.
Distance Between Readers
Proximity readers must be separated by at least 200 mm (8 inches) in all directions. For internal walls, ensure readers on opposite sides are at least 200 mm (8 inches) apart.
[Diagram illustrating minimum reader separation: Shows two readers 200mm apart, and a cross-section of a wall with readers on either side also separated by 200mm.]
Installation
ATTENTION: This equipment contains components sensitive to electrostatic discharge. Ensure you and the equipment are earthed before servicing.
The Gallagher T15 Reader mounts on any solid flat surface. Installation on metal surfaces, especially those with large surface areas, can reduce read range.
Note: Consider the installation environment for Bluetooth® enabled readers, as read range may be affected.
The recommended mounting height is 1.1 m (3.6 ft) from the floor to the reader's center. Local regulations may require variations.
- Use the reader bezel as a guide to drill three holes: a 13 mm (1/2 inch) diameter center hole for the cable exit, and two fixing holes.
- Run the building cable through the center hole and the reader bezel.
- Secure the bezel to the mounting surface using the provided fixing screws. Ensure the bezel is flush and tight. Gallagher recommends using the outer screw locations.
Note: Use the provided screws. Alternative screws must have heads no larger or deeper than the provided ones.
Note: The center hole must allow the cable to pass freely for the reader facia to clip into the bezel.
[Diagram illustrating installation steps: Shows a bezel, building cable, and screw placement for mounting. Labels include "No. 6 pan head screw", "Building cable", and "Bezel".]
- Connect the reader tail to the building cable. Wire connections depend on whether it's an HBUS Reader or a Cardax IV Reader, as shown in the diagrams below.
Note: PIV and Bluetooth® readers must connect as HBUS Readers. PIV readers connect only to the Gallagher Controller 6000 High Spec PIV (C305101).

An HBUS Reader connects to a Gallagher Controller 6000, Gallagher 4H/8H Module, or Gallagher HBUS Door Module. A Cardax IV Reader connects to a Gallagher Controller 6000, Gallagher 4R/8R Module, or Gallagher GBUS Universal Reader Interface.
- Fit the facia assembly into the bezel by clipping the top lip, then pressing the bottom down.
- Insert the M3 Torx Post Security screw through the bottom of the bezel to secure the facia assembly. Use a T10 Torx Post Security screwdriver. Tighten lightly.
[Diagram showing reader tail, building cable, and connection point, with a screw securing the facia to the bezel.]
- Removal of the facia assembly is the reverse of these steps.
Hint: After removing the security screw, press the top of the facia; the bottom will exit the bezel.
- Configure the reader in Command Centre. Refer to the Command Centre Configuration Client Online Help for "Configuring HBUS Devices" (for HBUS Readers) or "Creating Readers" (for Cardax IV Readers).
