Getting to Know Your MateBook 14

This section details the various components of your HUAWEI MateBook 14.

External Components:

  • 1. USB-C port: For charging, data transfer, and DisplayPort.
  • 2. Headset jack: For audio devices.
  • 3. HDMI port: For connecting external displays.
  • 4. Charging indicator: Shows charging status.
  • 5. Speakers: Integrated audio output.
  • 6. Microphone x 4: Multiple microphones for audio input.
  • 7. Camera drainage hole: Allows water to drain from the camera area.
  • 8. Left key: Part of the touchpad.
  • 9. Right key: Part of the touchpad.
  • 10. Touchpad: For cursor control and gestures.
  • 11. Huawei Share icon: Enables Huawei Share functionality.
  • 12. Keyboard: For typing input.
  • 13. Camera indicator: Shows camera status (e.g., active).
  • 14. Recessed camera: A camera hidden behind a button.
  • 15. USB 2.0 port: For connecting USB devices.
  • 16. USB 3.0 port: For faster USB device connections.
  • 17. One touch power button: Powers the device on/off and includes fingerprint sensor.
  • 18. Screen: The display panel.

Huawei Share Icon and Recessed Camera:

[Info] Do not damage the Huawei Share icon; otherwise, Huawei Share OneHop may not work. Huawei Share OneHop is supported by certain HUAWEI/HONOR phone models. The NFC detection area is usually near the rear camera.

The MateBook 14 features a recessed camera. Press the button to open the camera for photos/videos and press again to hide it. The camera button is connected to the water drainage hole on the back; water spilled on the camera will drain out.

Initial Setup

[Warning] When using your MateBook 14 for the first time, connect it to the power adapter and wait for the screen to turn on for setup.

To turn on your MateBook 14 again, press and hold the power button until the keyboard lights up.

[Warning] Force shutdown: Press and hold the power button for over 10 seconds. This may result in loss of unsaved data.

Follow the on-screen instructions to complete setup:

  • Connect to a wireless network.
  • Log in using your Microsoft account (e.g., Outlook.com) to access Microsoft services.
  • Set up Windows Hello and add a fingerprint for quick and secure login via the power button.
  • Set a PIN for logging in and accessing apps.

After the desktop appears:

  • Activate Windows automatically when connected to the Internet.

[Info] It is normal to hear fan noises or feel the computer getting hot during the first internet connection due to automatic Windows system updates.

Getting Started

Start Menu

On the home screen, click [Windows logo] to open the Start menu. From here, you can:

  • Click [Settings icon] to access MateBook 14 settings.
  • Click [Power button] to turn off, restart, or enable sleep mode.

Action Center

To launch the Action Center, click [Action center icon]. You can:

  • Quickly access settings, VPN, and projector screens.
  • Quickly change frequently-used settings like airplane mode and screen brightness.

Charging Your MateBook 14

Your MateBook 14 has a built-in rechargeable battery. Charge it using the provided adapter and USB-C charging cable. The indicator blinks white during charging.

The USB-C port on the left side supports charging, data transfer, and DisplayPort functionality.

Features

One-Touch Log In (Password Free)

The MateBook 14 features a fingerprint sensor power button. Set up Windows Hello and add your fingerprint for quick and secure login without entering a password.

  • Press the power button to log in when the device is powered off or in sleep mode.
  • Touch the power button to unlock when the screen is on.

You can register up to 10 fingerprints.

Restore to Factory Settings

[Info] Before restoring, connect your MateBook 14 to power and back up data from Disk C. You can also access the backup and restore screen for instructions.

Press and hold F10 during power-on to access the factory settings restore screen. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Safety Information

This section provides important information for safe operation and usage of your device.

Electronic Device Safety

Do not use the device if prohibited or if it causes danger or interference with other electronic devices.

Interference with Medical Equipment

  • Follow rules in hospitals and healthcare facilities.
  • Some wireless devices may affect hearing aids or pacemakers; consult your service provider.
  • Maintain a minimum distance of 15 cm between the device and a pacemaker. Hold the device on the opposite side of the pacemaker and avoid carrying it in your front pocket.

Protecting Your Hearing

  • Avoid listening at high volumes for extended periods to prevent hearing damage.
  • Lower headset volume to a safe and comfortable level.
  • High volumes while driving can cause distraction and increase accident risk.

Areas with Flammables and Explosives

  • Do not use the device in environments with flammables or explosives (e.g., gas stations, chemical plants).
  • Do not store or transport the device with flammable liquids, gases, or explosives.

Traffic Security

  • Observe local laws and regulations; do not use the device while driving.
  • Concentrate on driving.
  • RF signals may affect vehicle electronics; consult the vehicle manufacturer.
  • Keep the device away from airbags to prevent injury from inflation force.

Operating Environment

  • Avoid dusty, damp, dirty, or magnetic environments.
  • Do not use during thunderstorms.
  • Ideal operating temperatures: 0°C to 35°C. Ideal storage temperatures: -10°C to +45°C.
  • Avoid direct sunlight, rain, and moisture.
  • Keep away from heat sources (heaters, ovens, stoves).
  • Keep sharp metal objects away from the earpiece/speaker.
  • Stop use if the device overheats to avoid low-temperature burns.
  • Do not touch the antenna.
  • Keep away from children and pets biting or sucking the device.

Child Safety

  • Children playing with the device may be dangerous; keep away from children.
  • The device is not intended for children without adult supervision.

Accessories and Charger Safety

  • Use only approved accessories. Unapproved accessories may cause fire, explosion, or other hazards.
  • Ensure the socket-outlet for the charger is accessible.
  • Unplug the charger when not in use.
  • Do not drop or impact the charger.
  • Damaged power cables can cause electric shock or fire.
  • Do not touch the power cord or device with wet hands.
  • Take wet chargers to an authorized service center.
  • Ensure chargers meet relevant safety standards (e.g., IEC60950-1).
  • Connect only to products with USB-IF logo or compliance.

Battery Safety

  • Do not short-circuit battery poles.
  • Keep batteries away from excessive heat and direct sunlight.
  • Do not modify, puncture, or immerse batteries in liquids.
  • If a battery leaks, flush affected skin/eyes with water and consult a doctor.
  • Stop use if battery deforms, changes color, or overheats.
  • Do not dispose of batteries in fire.
  • Dispose of used batteries according to local regulations.
  • Keep batteries away from children and pets.
  • Do not drop or crush batteries.
  • Replace battery if standby time significantly shortens.
  • The device has a built-in battery; contact a service center for replacement.
  • Use only IEEE-Std-1725 qualified charging systems and batteries.

Cleaning and Maintenance

  • Keep the device and accessories dry.
  • Avoid external heat sources for drying.
  • Avoid extreme heat/cold and collisions.
  • Before cleaning, stop use, close applications, and disconnect cables.
  • Use a clean, soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemical detergents.
  • Keep magnetic cards away from the device.
  • Do not dismantle or remanufacture the device.
  • If the screen breaks, stop use and contact a service center.

Environmental Protection and Disposal

  • Do not dispose of the device or accessories with household garbage.
  • Follow local regulations for proper collection and recycling.

EU Regulatory Conformance

Body Worn Operation: The device complies with RF specifications at 0.0 cm from the body. Ensure accessories are not metal and keep the device away from your body.

Certification Information (SAR): Meets guidelines for radio wave exposure. The Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) is within European limits (2.0 W/kg averaged over 10g). Highest reported SAR is 0.53 W/kg.

Statement: Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. declares compliance with Directive 2014/53/EU for devices KLV-W09/KLV-W19/KLV-W29. The Declaration of Conformity is available at http://consumer.huawei.com/certification.

Restrictions: Device may be operated in all EU member states. Observe national/local regulations. Restrictions apply in the 2.4 GHz band (Norway) and 5 GHz band (indoor use only for 5150-5350 MHz).

Frequency Bands and Power

The device operates in various frequency bands (Wi-Fi 2.4G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 5G). Maximum power levels are specified according to Harmonized Standards.

Accessories and Software Information

Optional accessories are available. Recommended: Adapters HW-200325XP0, Batteries HB4593R1ECW. Software version is 1.5.0.10 (C001). Software updates are released by the manufacturer. RF parameters are not user-accessible.

FCC Regulatory Compliance

Certification Information (SAR): Meets USA requirements for radio wave exposure. SAR limit for USA is 1.6 W/kg averaged over 1g. Highest reported SAR is 0.75 W/kg.

FCC Statement: This equipment complies with FCC Rules Part 15 for Class B digital devices. It may cause interference; measures to correct interference are provided. Operation is subject to two conditions: no harmful interference, and acceptance of received interference.

Caution: Unauthorized modifications may void user authority to operate the equipment.

Restrictions in the 5 GHz band: UNII devices are restricted to indoor operations in the 5.15 to 5.25 GHz band to reduce interference with Mobile Satellite System (MSS) operations.
