2 Important Safety Precautions
2.1 Disclaimer
PROJOY assumes no responsibility for any loss, in particular for circuit damage, resulting from any violation of the specifications recommended and referred to in this specification. PROJOY assumes no responsibility for the damage of the product caused by the maintenance, improper use, wrong installation or wrong system design of the product by non-designated personnel.
2.2 Safety Instructions
- PEFS is an electrical product that should be installed by a suitable person who meets local regulations.
- When modifying an existing installation, isolate the inverter from the PV array by turning OFF the DC isolator / switch disconnect or turn OFF the inverter and the AC switch.
- Incorrect connections to the PEFS-PC may cause failure.
2.3 Cautions
If the inverter and PV module connectors are not compatible with PEFS connectors, forced connections are unsafe and may cause operational problems. For the mechanical compatibility of the module / converter and PEFS, use the same connectors from the same manufacturer on both the PEFS and modules, or obtain verification that the connectors to be used are compatible.
3 Introduction
PEFS-PC Emergency Rapid Shutdown Switch Unit. This unit is supplied with an internal 24VDC power supply to interface with the PEFS-PC units.
Two views of the PROJOY PEFS-PC unit are presented. The unit features a prominent red emergency stop button and the 'PEFS' label. Connection ports are visible, labeled 'PV IN', 'PV OUT', 'DC 24V', and 'AC MAINS'.
4 Installation & Connection
The installation locations and modes of PEFS-PC are illustrated below.
Step 1: Unpacking
An illustration shows an opened box containing the PEFS-PC unit, accessories, and manual. An arrow indicates removing the unit.
Step 2: Prepare Materials and Tools
Visuals display necessary installation items: expansion bolts, screws (ST4.8x38), and a cross/straight screwdriver.
Step 3: Releasing Clasps
A diagram shows the PEFS-PC unit with clasps on its sides being pulled outwards, indicated by arrows.
Step 4: Mounting
An illustration depicts the PEFS-PC unit being mounted onto a wall using screws, with arrows pointing to the screw locations.
5 Technical Specification
A wiring diagram illustrates the connections for the PROJOY PEFS-PC unit. It shows 'DC 24V' input (with Black and White wires) connecting to a 'SWITCH' component, which then links to 'POWER SUPPLY'. 'AC MAINS' (also with Black and White wires) are shown connecting to the power supply. The unit has labeled ports for 'PV IN' and 'PV OUT'.
The Emergency Rapid Shutdown Switch Unit PEFS-PC can be conveniently located anywhere for emergency access and is supplied with an internal 24VDC power supply to interface with the PEFS-PC units.

6 Trouble Shooting
Problem | Possible Cause | Possible Solution |
---|---|---|
Panel (pair) voltage is 0V | No mains supply (LED OFF) | Check area utility operational. Check mains ON. Check mains fuse. |
PEFS-PC power supply failure | Check mains voltage between L&N marked terminals. Check 24VDC between + & - marked terminals. | |
PEFS-PC switch activated | Turn red actuator anti-clockwise to release button. | |
No PEFS-PC switch output | Check 24VDC between switch out terminal & PSU marked terminal. Check 24VDC between terminals of remote AMP Superseal connector (pin 1 +24VDC, pin 2 0VDC). | |
Broken cable | Check all PV to PEFS-PC input connections. | |
PV array not connected | Check PV array Positive (+) goes to PEFS-PC. | |
Incorrect PEFS-PC polarity connection | Ensure Positive (+) and PV array Negative (-) goes to PEFS-PC Negative (-). | |
PV Inverter input 0V | No PEFS-PC output | Replace PEFS-PC. |
No DC isolator (if fitted) input | Check PEFS-PC output connections. | |
DC Isolator (if fitted) OFF | Check DC inputs to isolator. Turn DC Isolator ON. | |
String voltage too low | Incorrect PEFS-PC polarity connection | Check all PV array Positive (+) go to PEFS-PC. Ensure Positive (+) and PV array Negative (-) goes to PEFS-PC Negative (-). |
In the occurrence of a fire, PROJOY recommends that all elements of the PEFS Rapid Shutdown system be assessed for operational suitability by a competent person prior to re-energising.
