Installation Instructions
Before Using Your Appliance
- Remove all exterior and interior packing materials.
- Before connecting to power, let the unit stand for approximately 2 hours to reduce the possibility of cooling system malfunction from handling during transportation.
- Remove shelves and clean them, along with interior surfaces, with lukewarm water and a soft cloth.
Installing the Refrigerator
- Place the unit on a floor strong enough to support its full weight. Adjust the two leveling legs at the front to level the unit.
- The appliance is designed for built-in installation. Allow at least 2" (51mm) of space at the sides, top, and rear for proper air circulation to cool the compressor and condenser. Ensure front air vents are never covered or blocked.
- Spacers are supplied to be mounted onto the condenser tube at the back, ensuring sufficient clearance between the appliance and the wall. (See diagram illustrating condenser tube spacers).
- Locate the unit away from direct sunlight and heat sources (ovens, heaters, radiators). Direct sunlight can affect the acrylic coating, and heat sources increase electrical consumption. Extremely cold ambient temperatures can also affect performance.
- Avoid moist areas, as high humidity can cause frost formation on the evaporator, requiring more frequent defrosting.
- Plug the unit into an exclusive, properly installed, and grounded wall outlet. Consult a certified electrician or authorized service center for any power or grounding questions.
Electrical Connection
⚠️ WARNING
Improper use of the grounded plug can result in electrical shock. If the power cord is damaged, have it replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified persons.
This unit requires proper grounding for safety. The power cord has a three-prong plug for standard grounded outlets. Never cut or remove the third ground prong. Ensure your wall outlet and circuit are properly grounded by a qualified electrician. If a 2-prong outlet is encountered, it is your responsibility to have it replaced with a grounded 3-prong outlet.
Secure the cord behind the unit to prevent accidental injury. Always plug into its own individual electrical outlet matching the appliance's voltage rating to ensure best performance and prevent overloading house wiring. Never unplug by pulling the power cord; grip the plug firmly and pull straight out. Repair or replace any frayed or damaged power cord immediately. Be careful not to damage the power cord when moving the unit.
Extension Cord
Do not use an extension cord with this appliance. If the power cord is too short, have a qualified electrician or service technician install an outlet nearby.
Reversing the Door Swing
NOTE: Models with professionally installed door handles may not be user-reversible.
If the door opening direction is inconvenient, it can be changed. Holes on the opposite side are pre-prepared. The appliance can open from the right or left; by default, the hinge is on the right.
- Remove the upper hinge cover and screws holding the top hinge.
- Lift the hinge straight up to free the hinge pin from the top of the door.
- Lift the door up and away to free its bottom socket from the hinge pin.
- Remove screws from the bottom hinge.
- Remove decorative caps from the opposite side and plug holes on the original side with these caps.
- Move the bottom hinge to the opposite side and tighten screws, using lock washers or nuts if applicable.
- Replace the door onto the bottom hinge pin. Place the top hinge pin into the door. Insert and tighten screws into the top hinge.
Door Handle Installation
The door has two screw holes on each side for handle installation. Align the handle with the desired screw holes, fix it in place with the included screws, and cover the screw heads with the handle seal.
Diagram Description (Page 8): A diagram illustrates the components for reversing the door swing and installing the handle. It shows the upper hinge cover, upper hinge, lower hinge, kick plate, handle, and a fastener. The diagram visually guides the user through detaching and reattaching the hinges and door, and indicates the screw points for the handle.
Operating Your Refrigerator
Temperature Control
The evaporator system is located behind the interior rear wall. The interior temperature is controlled by a thermostat knob inside the unit, near the upper right-hand corner. Turn the knob clockwise from STOP (0) towards higher numbers for colder temperatures. Higher settings result in lower temperatures.
Diagram Description (Page 9): A circular dial graphic shows temperature settings from 'STOP' (0) to '6', indicating the range for controlling the refrigerator's internal temperature.
At the coldest settings, temperatures may drop below 32°F in some spots. Use higher settings only when required. For normal ambient temperatures, a medium setting is recommended. Ambient temperature changes affect the internal temperature, so adjust the thermostat accordingly.
In the STOP (0) position, the cooling system is off, but the power supply remains active (the interior light works). Temperature is also affected by door opening frequency. In small refrigerators without interior fans, temperatures are coldest near the bottom and rear. It is best not to operate the unit mostly empty; if temperatures are erratic, placing water bottles inside can help create a load for the compressor.
NOTES:
- Glass shelves are adjustable and stop short of the back wall to allow essential airflow for the automatic defrost system. Do not block these gaps.
- Interior lighting is activated by a switch that responds to door opening and closing.
- If the refrigerator is unplugged, has lost power, or is turned off, wait 3 to 5 minutes before restarting to prevent the unit from failing to start.
Defrosting Your Appliance
This appliance features an automatic defrost system. Ice builds up on the cold rear wall (evaporator plate) while the compressor operates. During the compressor's off-cycle, ice melts, drips into a trough at the bottom, and drains through a small hole into a tray above the compressor, where it evaporates. If excessive ice builds up, try a slightly warmer thermostat setting. Ensure the door gasket seals well and the drain hole at the bottom rear is not obstructed.
Care and Maintenance
Cleaning Your Appliance
- Unplug the appliance, set the thermostat to STOP (0), and remove all contents, including shelves and crisper.
- Wash interior surfaces with a lukewarm water and vinegar solution. Wipe dry with a clean, soft cloth.
- Wash shelves and crisper with a mild detergent solution, then rinse and dry thoroughly.
- Wash the outside cabinet with warm water and mild liquid detergent. Rinse well and wipe dry with a clean, soft cloth.
- Wring out excess water from sponges or cloths before cleaning the temperature control area or any electrical parts.
- Periodically wipe the condenser on the back wall with a soft, non-metallic brush or vacuum cleaner. Diagram Description (Page 10): An illustration shows a hand cleaning the condenser coils on the back of the refrigerator with a brush or vacuum attachment.
- After cleaning, reconnect to power, reset the thermostat, and return contents to their place.
CAUTION: Failure to unplug the unit before cleaning or maintenance could result in electrical shock or personal injury.
Power Failure
Most power failures are corrected within a few hours. Minimize door openings to maintain temperature. If a prolonged power outage is expected, take steps to protect chilled items.
Vacations
During long absences, remove all contents. Unplug the appliance, clean it, and leave the door slightly open to prevent condensation, mold, or odors.
Moving Your Appliance
- Remove contents.
- Securely tape down all shelving inside the unit.
- Turn leveling legs up to the base to prevent damage.
- Tape the door shut.
- Ensure the appliance remains upright and secure during transportation.
Energy-Saving Tips
- Locate the unit in the coolest area of the room, away from heat-producing appliances or ducts, and out of direct sunlight.
- Avoid opening the door too often, especially in damp, hot weather. Close it as soon as possible after opening.
- Periodically check for adequate ventilation behind the appliance.
- Set the thermostat to lower settings as soon as possible, depending on load and ambient temperature.
- Cool items to ambient temperature before loading them into the unit.
