Overview: About the IE PowerTray 18-Slot AC The IE PowerTray 18-Slot AC is a modular enclosure for installing up to 18 Black Box Compact Converter Form Factor miniature media converters. The IE PowerTray 18-Slot AC features an internal AC power supply. · Miniature Media Converter 10/100 · Miniature Media Converter 10/100/1000 · Gigabit Miniature Media Converters · Multi-Power Miniature Media Converter 10/100/1000 · MultiPower Industrial Media Converters · Industrial SFP/SFP Multi-Power Mode Converter NOTE All the above will be referred to as Compact Converter Form Factor throughout this manual. Page 8 724-746-5500 | blackbox.com LHC018A-AC-R2 Chapter 3: Install the IE PowerTray 18-Slot AC 3. Install the IE PowerTray 18-Slot AC and and IE Miniature Media Converters The IE PowerTray 18-Slot AC mounts into an equipment rack. Black Box recommends turning OFF the power to the chassis before proceeding. To install a Compact Converter Form Factor, make sure the data connectors are facing the front of the tray. Slide the Compact Converter Form Factor into the IE PowerTray 18-Slot AC, using the guides, until the Compact Converter Form Factor is firmly seated in the backplane. Attach the network cables between the Compact Converter Form Factor and other devices that will be interconnected. Plug the chassis into a power source and turn the chassis power switch to ON. There is a green LED located on the back of the unit that indicates when the unit has power. Compact Converter Form Factor units are hot-swappable when installing in the IE PowerTray 18-Slot AC. Electrostatic Discharge Precautions Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can cause damage to any product, add-in modules or stand alone units, containing electronic components. Always observe the following precautions when installing or handling these kinds of products. 1. Do not remove unit from its protective packaging until ready to install. 2. Wear an ESD wrist grounding strap before handling any module or component. If the wrist strap is not available, maintain grounded contact with the system unit throughout any procedure requiring ESD protection. 3. Hold the units by the edges; do not touch the electronic components or gold connectors. 4. After removal, always place the boards on a grounded, static-free surface, ESD pad or in a proper ESD bag. Do not slide the modules or stand alone units over any surface. WARNING! Integrated circuits and fiber optic components are extremely susceptible to electrostatic discharge damage. Do not handle these components directly unless you are a qualified service technician and use tools and techniques that conform to accepted industry practices.
