Quick Start Guide
Thank you for purchasing this Yamaha product. To use this product properly and safely, read this Quick Start Guide and the supplied booklet "Safety Brochure" before using the unit. After reading this document and the Safety Brochure, be sure to keep them in a safe place where they can be referenced at any time.

Supplied Accessories
Make sure you have received all of the following accessories:
- Sound bar (SR-C20A)
- Remote control
- AC adaptor (model number: ANAD-420FIOT-B or ANAD-420FIOT-W)
- Digital optical audio cable
- Power cord
- Mounting template: Used for wall mounting the sound bar. Includes spacers (A: x2, B: x2 on 1 sheet).

- Safety Brochure
Note: An HDMI cable is not included with this sound bar. Please consider length when purchasing this cable separately.
Preparing the Remote Control
Remove the battery insulating strip before attempting to use the remote control.
Note: A Lithium battery (CR2025) has already been inserted into the remote control.
Operating Range of the Remote Control
Use the remote control within the range shown in the following illustration: Within 6 m (20 ft), with a 30° angle left and right from the front of the sound bar.
Installing the Sound Bar
Installed on a TV Stand
Place the sound bar on a TV stand in front of the TV. Ensure the front of the sound bar is aligned with the front of the TV stand. The controls are located on the top of the sound bar.
Wall-mounted
Mount the sound bar on a wall using the provided mounting template and appropriate hardware (not included). Refer to the User Guide for detailed wall-mounting instructions.
Note: After installation and connections are complete, power off the sound bar and hold down the BASS EXT button on the remote control for at least five seconds to configure frequency characteristics for wall mount installation.

Connecting a TV
Depending on the type of TV, connect the TV to the sound bar as follows:
Is your TV equipped with an HDMI jack labeled as "ARC?"
Yes
Connect the TV using an ARC-compatible HDMI cable (sold separately). Connect the HDMI OUT/TV (ARC) port on the sound bar to the ARC-compatible HDMI input on the TV.
No
Connect the TV using an HDMI cable (sold separately) and the supplied digital optical audio cable. Connect the HDMI OUT/TV (ARC) port on the sound bar to an HDMI input on the TV, and connect the OPTICAL OUT port on the TV to the OPTICAL IN port on the sound bar using the digital optical audio cable.
Connecting the TV using only the digital optical audio cable (supplied)
When the HDMI Control function is not used or the TV is not equipped with an HDMI input jack, connect the TV using the supplied digital optical audio cable. Connect the OPTICAL OUT port on the TV to the OPTICAL IN port on the sound bar. Ensure the cap is removed from the optical cable and the plug is oriented correctly.
Note on HDMI Connection
When connecting via HDMI cable, confirm the TV's settings: HDMI Control function enabled, and TV's audio output set to ARC. The TV's HDMI Control function allows controlling power on/off and volume adjustment using the TV's remote control.
Connecting to Power
After all connections are complete, connect the sound bar to power using the supplied AC adaptor and power cord. Plug the power cord into an AC wall outlet.
Playing TV Sound Through the Sound Bar
- Turn on the TV. If connected via HDMI with HDMI Control enabled, the sound bar will also turn on. Proceed to Step 4.
- Turn on the sound bar. Press the power button ([power-button]) on the remote control or touch the power icon ([power-button]) on the sound bar.
- Press TV. Select the TV input source on the sound bar.
- Press VOLUME (+/-) to adjust the volume.
Adjusting the Sound to Your Preference
Listening Modes (Sound Mode)
Select a sound mode to enhance audio performance:
- STANDARD: Best for general content (sports, sitcoms, reality shows). Provides surround playback.
- MOVIE: Ideal for movies. Provides surround playback.
- GAME: Ideal for video games. Provides surround playback.
- STEREO: 2-channel stereo playback.
Enhance Human Voices (Clear Voice)
Enable Clear Voice to make human voices easier to hear, especially in movies or dramas with background music and sound effects. Press the CLEAR VOICE button to toggle this feature. (Indicator flashes three times: enabled, one time: disabled).
Enjoying Enhanced Bass Sound (Bass Extension)
Enable Bass Extension for enhanced and more powerful bass. Press the BASS EXT button to toggle this feature. (Indicator flashes three times: enabled, one time: disabled).
Note on Default Settings:
Sound mode: STANDARD, Clear Voice: Disabled, Bass Extension: Enabled.
Listening to Audio from a Bluetooth® Device
Audio content from a Bluetooth device (e.g., smartphone) can be played through the sound bar.
- Press BLUETOOTH to switch the input source to Bluetooth.
- On the Bluetooth device, enable the Bluetooth function.
- Select your product from the list. "Yamaha SR-C20A" or "YamahaAV" will be displayed.
- Play audio content on the Bluetooth device. The sound bar will begin playing audio.
Note on Bluetooth Connection:
The sound bar can connect to two Bluetooth devices simultaneously (multipoint connection). However, two devices cannot play simultaneously. You must stop playback on one device before starting playback on the other.
Controlling the Sound Bar with the App
By installing the free dedicated app "Sound Bar Remote" on a mobile device (e.g., smartphone), the sound bar can be controlled remotely.
Search for "Sound Bar Remote" on the App Store or Google Play and install it.
Main App Functions:
- Turn power on/off, select input source, adjust volume and subwoofer volume.
- Switch between sound modes.
- Enable or disable Bass Extension and Clear Voice features.
- Change indicator brightness (Dimmer).
Note on App Control:
To control the sound bar via the app, configure your mobile device settings: Enable Bluetooth. For Android devices, configure settings to allow location information. The app uses location information only to detect the sound bar; personal information is not collected.
Compatibility: This sound bar is only compatible with the "Sound Bar Remote" app. It cannot be controlled by other apps (e.g., Sound Bar Controller).
