MikroTik hEX (RB750Gr3)

First Use

1. Choose your powering solution. Refer to the 'Powering' section for details.
2. Connect your Internet cable to port 1 (labeled "Internet"). Connect local network computers to ports 2-5.
3. Connect your direct input power jack (if not using PoE) to start the device.
4. If using PoE, refer to the 'POE Adapter' section for connection instructions.
5. The device will boot up. After a short beep, the network will be available for connection.
6. Configure your computer's IP settings to automatic (DHCP).
7. Once connected to the network, open https://192.168.88.1 in your web browser to begin configuration. The default password is blank, so you will be logged in automatically.
8. It is recommended to click the "Check for updates" button and update your RouterOS software to the latest version for optimal performance and stability.
9. Set up your password on the screen that appears.

Mounting

This device is designed for indoor use. It can be placed on a flat surface or mounted on a wall. Mounting points are shown in the diagram below. Screws are not included in the package. Screws with size 4x25 mm fit well. Depending on your wall structure, you may need dowels (6x30 mm) and a 6 mm drill bit.

When mounting on a wall, ensure the cable feed points downwards. It is recommended to use Cat6 cable for these devices. The IP rating for this device is IPX0.

Powering

The device accepts power from the power jack or the first Ethernet port (Passive PoE):

• Direct input power jack (5.5mm outside and 2mm inside, female, pin positive) accepts 8-30 V DC.
• The first Ethernet port accepts passive Power over Ethernet (PoE) 8-30 V DC. 12 V or higher is recommended to compensate for cable loss.
• The power consumption of this device is 10 W under maximum load with attachments, and 5 W without attachments.

Booting process

RouterOS includes many configuration options beyond what is described in this document. For initial familiarization, visit https://mt.lv/help. If an IP connection is unavailable, the Winbox tool (https://mt.lv/winbox) can be used to connect to the device's MAC address from the LAN side. Access from the Internet port is blocked by default.

For recovery purposes, it is possible to boot the device from the network. Refer to the 'Reset button' section for details.

Extension Slots and Ports

• The device features five individual Ethernet ports with automatic cross/straight cable correction (Auto MDI/X), allowing the use of either straight-through or crossover cables for connecting to other network devices.
• MicroSD card slot.
• USB Type-A slot.

Buttons and jumpers

Reset button

The RouterBOOT reset button has the following functions. Press and hold the button while applying power:

• Release the button when a green LED starts flashing to reset the RouterOS configuration to defaults.
• Release the button when the LED turns solid green to clear all configurations and bridge all interfaces.
• Release the button after the LED is no longer lit (approximately 20 seconds) to initiate a search for Netinstall servers (required for reinstalling RouterOS over the network).

Regardless of the option chosen, the system will load the backup RouterBOOT loader if the button is pressed before power is applied. This is useful for RouterBOOT debugging and recovery.

Mode button

The action of the mode buttons can be configured within the RouterOS software to execute any user-supplied RouterOS script. The button can also be disabled. The mode button can be configured in the RouterOS menu: /system routerboard mode-button.

Connecting to a PoE Adapter

1. Connect the Ethernet cable from the device to the POE port of the PoE adapter.
2. Connect an Ethernet cable from your LAN to the LAN port of the PoE adapter. Observe the arrows indicating data and power flow.
3. Connect the power cord to the adapter and plug the adapter into a power outlet.

The package includes the following accessories:

• DC = EU/US Switching Power Supply 24 V, 0.38 A, 9 W, Level VI, cable: 1.5 m.

Operating System Support

The device supports RouterOS software version 6. The specific factory-installed version number is indicated in the RouterOS menu /system resource. Other operating systems have not been tested.
