Amazon Echo Buds (2nd Gen) Quick Start Guide
Meet Your Echo Buds
This section introduces the components of your Echo Buds and their charging case.
Charging Case: Features battery LEDs and a case button. The USB-C charging port is located on the back.
Earbuds: Each earbud includes [microphones], an [IR sensor], a [comfort vent], [L indicator]/[R indicator] markings, and a [charging contact].
Activate Your Echo Buds
Get the Alexa App
Install the latest version of the Amazon Alexa app to access the full functionality of your Echo Buds.
Start Setup
Open the charging case. Wait for the case LED to [blue LED pulse], indicating the earbuds are in pairing mode.
Follow In-App Setup
In the Alexa app, tap the pop-up and follow the on-screen instructions. Completing setup ensures you receive the latest software updates.
Identify Left and Right Earbud
Check the [L indicator] and [R indicator] on the inner surface of each [earbud] to distinguish left from right.
Position Your Echo Buds
To get started, learn how to properly insert your earbuds for optimal performance and comfort.
Use the [Amazon smile logo] to orient the [earbud]: Turn the [earbud] so the [Amazon smile logo] faces upwards. Place the [earbud] in your ear and rotate slightly to achieve a snug and secure fit.
Personalised Fit
Ear Tips
For the best audio quality, the [ear tip] should feel snug but comfortable. Available sizes include [size S], [size M], [size L], and [size XL].
Wing Tips (Optional)
Wing tips can help secure the earbuds, particularly during exercise. Available in [size Small] and [size Large]. Caution: To avoid tearing, hold the wing tip by the wing and gently pull it over the [earbud].
- Choose Your Size: Try both sizes to determine the best fit.
- Install: Tuck in the [wing tip] securely.
- Place in Ear: Insert the [earbud] into your ear. Do not cover the [IR sensor].
Find the best size for you using the Ear Tip Sizing Test available in the Alexa app.
Tap to Control
To use tap controls, tap the center of either [earbud].

Customise your tap controls by assigning actions such as: [play/pause], [active noise cancellation], [next track], [passthrough], [Siri/Google Assistant], or [answer/end call]. Learn more and define your own tap controls in the Alexa app.
Alexa is Designed to Protect Your Privacy
Wake Word and Indicators
Alexa does not begin listening until your Echo device detects the wake word (e.g., "Alexa"). An audible tone lets you know when audio is being sent to Amazon's secure cloud.
Microphone Controls
You can [mute microphones] in the Alexa app or by configuring a customised tap control. If you remove an [earbud] from your ear, access to Alexa will be disabled for that [earbud].
Voice History
You can view and delete your [voice history] (recordings of what Alexa heard) in the Alexa app at any time.

Talk to Alexa
To interact with Alexa, say "Alexa, what can you do?" See the included "Things to Try" card to help get you started.
Check the Battery Level
Ask "Alexa, what's my battery level?"
Earbud Charge Level: More than 40% (indicated by green), Less than 40% (indicated by yellow), Battery low (indicated by red).
Case Charge Level: Greater than 1 full charge (indicated by green), Less than 1 full charge (indicated by yellow), Battery low (indicated by red).
When the case is closed, the case LED displays the battery level of the [earbud] with the lowest charge.
Wireless Charging
To [wireless charge] the case, place it on a Qi-certified wireless charging mat (sold separately). Always wipe off any sweat or moisture from your Echo Buds before charging.
Connect to Other Devices
- Open the Case: Open the Echo Buds charging case, then press the case button for 3 seconds.
- Wait for the Blue LED to Pulse: The light on the front of the case will [blue LED pulse], indicating that your Echo Buds are discoverable and ready to pair.
- Place Echo Buds into Ears: Insert the earbuds in your ears and complete pairing on your device.
You will need to pair and activate your Echo Buds through the Alexa app before pairing with other devices.
