Recommended Usage Instructions
At the top of the NexiGo webcam program screen, select the NexiGo webcam you have plugged into your computer from the dropdown menu. To verify the correct camera is selected, press the "Preview" button in the upper right corner. This activates the camera, allowing you to see a live playback of what it is capturing.
The preview displayed in the NexiGo app is what others will see in video calls or seminars. Adjust the setting sliders to your preference. Most adjustments carry over to other programs, except for resolution and frame rate settings, which may need to be readjusted. Before making other changes, it is recommended to reset the webcam to default settings to rule out faulty configurations. The "Defaults" button is located in the lower right corner of the application window.
The most commonly adjusted settings are:
- Brightness
- Saturation
- Sharpness
- Exposure
- Focus
Adjusting these settings first is recommended to achieve your desired look. For more detailed adjustments, refer to the "Detailed Usage Instructions" section.
Detailed Usage Instructions
Settings available for adjustment may vary by webcam model. Greyed-out sliders indicate a setting cannot be edited on the current webcam.
Adjustments Tab:
- White Balance: Balances color temperature. Increasing it can create warmer, orange/yellow images; decreasing it creates cooler, blue/white images. The automatic setting is recommended.
- Brightness: Controls the overall lightness or darkness of the image.
- Contrast: Scales the difference between black and white. Lowering it makes the image appear flatter; increasing it provides a wider range of tones and stronger colors.
- Hue: Adjusts the primary and secondary colors. Lowering hue can increase red, orange, and yellow tones; increasing hue can increase green, blue, and purple tones.
- Saturation: Controls the intensity of colors. Increasing saturation makes colors more vibrant; decreasing it reduces coloration.
- Sharpness: Affects the clarity and detail. Increasing sharpness enhances delineation; decreasing it smooths edges.
- Gamma: Adjusts the relationship between pixel value and luminance. Decreasing gamma darkens the image; increasing it brightens it. It is recommended to adjust this last if other image issues persist.
- Backlight Comp (Compensation): Compensates for high backlight by enhancing automatic exposure. Increasing it brightens darker areas; decreasing it results in a more realistic image.
- Powerline Frequency: Selects between 50 Hz or 60 Hz, matching your region's alternating current frequency.
Advanced Tab:
- Exposure: Controls the amount of light captured. Affects brightness in well-lit areas more than dark areas. The automatic setting is recommended.
- Gain: Measures extra energy added to a signal, affecting image brightness. Increasing gain brightens the image; decreasing it darkens it. Not all cameras support this adjustment.
- Focus: Adjusts the distance for the sharpest image. Not all cameras support this adjustment.
- Zoom: Controls the display image size/distance. Not all cameras support this adjustment.
- Pan: Adjusts the image moving left/right. Not all cameras support this adjustment.
- Roll: Mirrors the image, and can flip it upside down. Not all cameras support this adjustment.

How do I mount my webcam?
Follow these steps:
- Unfold the clip base and place the webcam on the top of your monitor.
- Hold the webcam firmly, then fold the support (circled in red in the diagram) toward the monitor until it touches the back.
The mounting method uses gravity and is designed not to damage your monitor.
Basic Setup / Why is my webcam not recognized by the operating system?
Connect the webcam to a USB 2.0 (or greater) port. Recognition may take a few seconds, and a pop-up notification may appear. Test your webcam immediately upon arrival.
To ensure correct installation:
- Open the NexiGo webcam application. Ensure other applications that might use the camera are closed.
- Make sure the webcam is plugged in before opening the application.
You should see your webcam in the dropdown menu next to the "Preview" button. Clicking "Preview" displays the live image if the webcam is working.
IF THE IMAGE DOES NOT PULL UP UPON CLICKING PREVIEW:
Windows Users:
- Plug the webcam into your computer. Go to Computer Management > Device Manager > Cameras. Expand the menu, right-click your webcam, and select "Uninstall device".
- Once uninstalled, unplug the USB cord.
- Open the NexiGo Webcam Application (ensure other camera applications are closed). Plug the webcam back into a direct USB port (not a hub or dock). Wait up to 1 minute, then click "Preview" again.
Mac Users:
- Plug the webcam into your computer. Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Users & Groups, then click the "Login Items" tab. Find your webcam and click the "-" button to remove it. If not found, proceed to step two.
- Once uninstalled, unplug the USB cord.
- Open the NexiGo Webcam Application (ensure other camera applications are closed). Plug the webcam back into a direct USB port (not a hub or dock). Wait up to 1 minute, then click "Preview" again.
Do I need any additional drivers or other software to make my webcam function?
Windows/Mac: The webcam is designed to be plug-and-play with updated operating systems, requiring no extra drivers. Try connecting to different USB ports, as some may not provide sufficient power. If using a USB hub or adapter, connect directly to the computer. Unplugging and replugging the unit can sometimes resolve issues.
If problems persist, try using the webcam directly with the NexiGo application, as the OS might incorrectly report it as not installed.
Other Operating Systems:
NexiGo cannot verify support for every operating system. However, most standard UVC webcam drivers are compatible.
How can I use my webcam in chatting software, like Skype or FaceTime?
Most video chatting software allows you to select your webcam. Consult the software's documentation or support team for specific instructions. Links to common program support pages are provided for convenience:
- Zoom Support
- Skype Support
- MS Teams Support
- FaceTime Support
What programs are NexiGo webcams compatible with?
NexiGo webcams are designed for compatibility with most video chat and recording programs. If the webcam functions correctly in the NexiGo software, compatibility issues are likely with the other software. A list of recommended software is available [here](link_to_software_list_if_available). NexiGo webcams do not currently work with the Windows Hello feature.
Does my webcam have speakers?
NexiGo webcams do not have built-in speakers. They do have microphones, but audio playback must be handled by the computer or connected device.
Is my webcam mirrored?
If the camera is pointed at you, your left will appear as the camera's right (like a stage environment). If your left appears on the left side of the screen, the image may be flipped. Reset any video altering software settings. If no changes were made, try resetting the webcam drivers by following the instructions in the "Why is my webcam not recognized by the operating system?" section.
Does this webcam work with Windows 7 / 8 / Vista / XP?
Older Windows versions may not be supported by Microsoft, potentially leading to a "no driver found" message. While some security updates might be available from Microsoft, drivers may not be. Contact Microsoft for driver assistance.
To test compatibility, connect the webcam directly to the NexiGo application and check if it is recognized and previews correctly. If not, the system may lack the necessary driver package, requiring a Windows upgrade.
My webcam's microphone is not working. What can I do to fix this?
Windows Users:
- Open "Control Panel" and go to "Sound".
- Under "Input", select your input device.
- Verify that "Microphone", "USB Microphone", or "NexiGo Microphone" is selected.
- The "Test your microphone" bar should move when you make noise.
- If the bar moves, the microphone is working. Ensure it's selected as the audio input in your video chat software. If not, contact the software's support.
- If the bar does not move, unplug the webcam and try a different USB port (preferably on the back of the system).
- If the issue persists after 1-2 minutes, visit the provided links for your specific Windows version for further troubleshooting.
Mac Users:
- Open "System Preferences" and go to "Sound".
- Under "Input", select your input device.
- Verify that "Microphone", "USB Microphone", or "NexiGo Microphone" is selected.
- The "Input volume" bar should move when you make noise.
- If the bar moves, the microphone is working. Ensure it's selected as the audio input in your video chat software. If not, contact the software's support.
- If the bar does not move, unplug the webcam and try a different USB port (preferably on the back of the system).
- If the issue persists after 1-2 minutes, visit the provided link for Mac OS for further troubleshooting.
Why is the image quality only reaching 1280 x 720 or 640 x 360, not 1080p?
Possible reasons include:
- Insufficient processing power (CPU speed).
- Insufficient network bandwidth.
- Video chatting software does not support 1080p.
- The appropriate resolution has not been selected in the software.
To resolve these issues:
- Close other CPU-intensive programs and verify your computer meets the software's specifications.
- Check for excessive network bandwidth usage by other devices or background downloads. Contact your ISP for a bandwidth test if needed.
- Contact the technical support team of your video chatting software.
- Adjust the resolution setting within your video chatting software.
Why are the images suffering from excessive glare?
The most common cause is a dirty lens. Clean the lens gently with a dry microfiber cloth. Ensure all oils and dirt are removed, then test the image in the NexiGo application.
Why does the feed from the webcam keep flickering and cutting out on the bottom?
This flickering can often be resolved by altering the "Powerline Freq" setting in the NexiGo application. Switch between 50 Hz and 60 Hz to match your region's power supply frequency.
Other potential causes include:
- Network congestion interfering with webcam functionality. Check your network settings.
- The operating system or computer specifications are insufficient for the webcam requirements. Consider updating your OS or upgrading your computer.
- Insufficient power supply from the computer to the webcam. Test the webcam in another USB port or on another computer. If the issue persists, contact support at cs@nexipc.com.

Why is my webcam image lagging behind reality?
Possible causes include:
- The video-capture software's encoding format is set to YUV or YUY2, preventing high-definition transfer over USB 2.0. Change the encoding to H.264, H.265, or MJPEG.
- An excessively long, poor quality, or nonstandard USB extension cable is used. The total length of the extension cable and webcam cable should not exceed three meters. Ensure you are using USB 2.0 ports.
- The computer's operating system or hardware specifications do not meet the requirements of the camera or webcam software.
Why is my webcam footage so dark?
Potential reasons include:
- Directing the webcam at bright light sources (e.g., a window on a sunny day). The camera may overcompensate for the bright light, making the overall image dark. Move the webcam to avoid direct bright light.
- Webcam settings are configured to increase light sensitivity. Adjust these settings within the NexiGo application.
