The camera uses a microSD card to store footage. Open the storage card compartment cover on the side of the camera to insert the microSD card.

This device is recommended to use UHS-I, V30, or higher speed cards with the exFAT format. Using cards with lower speeds may result in recording failures. Do not use UHS-II, UHS-III, or cards exceeding 2TB in capacity, as this may cause recording interruptions due to compatibility issues.

2.2 Power On

  • Align the camera with the charging contacts and place it into the Expansion Pod. Press and hold the Expansion Pod's Power Button for 2 seconds to turn it on.
  • To remove the camera, press and hold the unlock button while pulling out the camera module.

2.3 Connect and Activate

The GO Ultra requires activation via the Insta360 App for first-time use. You can download the Insta360 App by:

  1. Scanning the QR code displayed on the camera screen after the first power-on.
  2. Scanning the QR code on the packaging box.
  3. Downloading from the "Download" section on the official Insta360 website.

After downloading, follow these steps to activate:

2.4 Charging

Use the original data cable included in the package to connect the Expansion Pod's Type-C port to a charger.

  1. Place the GO Ultra camera into the Expansion Pod. Use the official data cable to connect the camera and charger.
  2. During charging while the camera is off, the indicator lights on both the camera and Expansion Pod will be orange. Upon full charge, the Expansion Pod's light turns green. The light turns off after unplugging the charger.

Important Notes:

  • When charging in the Expansion Pod, ensure the camera is securely seated and making proper contact.
  • It is recommended to use a charger for camera charging. The maximum input is 5V/3A. Connecting to a computer or other power banks may result in insufficient power supply, preventing simultaneous charging of both the camera and the Expansion Pod.

Charging Times:

  • GO Ultra Camera Charging Time*: 0-80%: 12 minutes, 0%-100%: 20 minutes.
  • Expansion Pod Charging Time^: 0-80%: 18 minutes, 0%-100%: 40 minutes.

The GO Ultra camera (without the Expansion Pod) does not require an additional protective case for underwater activities and can be used for short periods (less than 1 hour) at depths of up to 10 meters. The Expansion Pod offers IPX4 splash resistance only when the camera is inside it; do not use the Expansion Pod underwater.
  2. For optimal waterproofing, especially during activities like diving or surfing with high water impact, or for extended underwater shooting, use the Insta360 Dive Case.
  3. The camera comes with a lens protective mirror pre-installed. Ensure it is fully screwed on to maintain the camera's waterproofing and shooting performance.
  4. Before shooting underwater, replace the built-in protective mirror with the underwater high-definition lens for the best results. (The underwater high-definition lens cannot be used with the Dive Case simultaneously.)
  5. Before use, ensure the charging contacts on the camera's back and the Expansion Pod are clean and free from dirt or oxidation. Make sure the microSD card compartment cover on the camera's side is fully sealed (no orange color visible) to maintain waterproofing.
  6. If using the GO Ultra camera (without the Expansion Pod) in saltwater:
    • Gently rinse the camera surface with clean water.
    • Soak in fresh water for 10 minutes.
    • Wipe dry with a soft cloth and let it air dry in a ventilated area.
    • Once the camera surface is completely dry, you can remove the microSD card. Avoid water droplets entering the camera body through openings during this process to prevent damage.

To maintain the GO Ultra camera's optimal waterproofing:

  • Avoid sudden changes in temperature or humidity, which can cause condensation on the camera's surface or inside.
  • Do not use a hairdryer to blow air into the microphone or speaker, as this can damage the internal waterproof membrane.
  • Do not operate the camera outside the recommended temperature range (-20°C to 40°C) or in extremely humid environments for extended periods (>1 hour), such as saunas or hot springs.
  • When storing, avoid high temperatures and humidity. Also, keep it away from perfumes, cosmetics, and other items that could corrode the contacts and affect product performance.
  • Avoid submerging the camera in water too quickly, as the sudden impact with the water surface can cause water ingress.
  • If the camera gets wet or is used underwater, the noise reduction and microphone pickup performance may be affected. This is normal. If wet, let it air dry for 6-8 hours to gradually recover. After underwater use, allow at least 24 hours for drying.
  • Do not drop the camera or subject it to other impacts.
  • Do not disassemble the GO Ultra camera.

5.3 Cleaning Precautions

  1. If foreign objects are found on the lens protective cover, clean them with clean water, a lens pen, air blower, or lens cloth.
  2. If foreign objects are found on the lens, clean them with a lens pen, air blower, or lens cloth.

5.4 Underwater Use Precautions

Precautions for Replacing the Underwater High-Definition Lens

After shooting underwater with the underwater high-definition lens, you must replace it with the standard protective mirror for optimal shooting results. Due to the high humidity in wet environments, moisture may remain on the lens during replacement, potentially causing fogging in subsequent shots.

To avoid this, follow these steps:

  1. After underwater shooting, shake the device 3-5 times to remove as much surface water as possible.
  2. Remove the underwater high-definition lens and use a clean paper towel or cleaning cloth to wipe the lens barrel threads.
  3. Shoot for about 10 minutes at 4K/60fps to gently warm the camera and help evaporate residual moisture. Alternatively, use a hairdryer on a cool setting to blow air onto the lens area for about 10 minutes (you can also dry the protective mirror simultaneously).
  4. Once the lens barrel is completely dry, install the standard protective mirror back onto the camera.

Warm Tips:

  • The removed underwater high-definition lens can be dried with a hairdryer on a cool setting to prevent fogging during the next underwater shoot.
  • When replacing lenses, try to do so in a dry, ventilated environment to minimize the risk of moisture buildup.
  • If fogging occurs, you can remove the protective mirror and process it by shooting at 4K/60fps or using a cool hairdryer.
