- Installation must comply with national electrical code (ANSI/NFPA 70-1999) and local codes. Seek a qualified electrician if unfamiliar with wiring methods.
- Do NOT use a full-range dimmer switch to control fan speed, as it may cause a loud humming noise.
Assembly Instructions
- Turn OFF electrical power at the main fuse or circuit breaker. DANGER: Failure to disconnect power may result in serious injury or death.
- Prepare the Canopy: Loosen mounting bracket screws. Remove two screws from the canopy's round holes. Remove the mounting bracket from the canopy. Save screws. Install the mounting bracket to the outlet box (sold separately) using provided screws and washers. WARNING: Mount to an outlet box marked “acceptable for fan support”.
- Prepare the Motor: Remove ten motor screws and five motor blocks from the underside of the motor. Discard motor blocks, save motor screws for blade arm installation.
- Closemount Installation (Optional): Remove three Phillips-head closemount screws from the top of the motor assembly. Remove the canopy cover. Align canopy holes with motor assembly screw holes. Secure canopy to motor assembly with the three closemount screws. Hang the fan on the hook of the mounting bracket. Proceed to Step 9.
- Downrod Mount: Remove the downrod clip and downrod pin from the downrod. Loosen, but do not remove, the two set screws in the yoke at the top of the motor assembly.
- Feed Wires: Feed wires and braided cable from the yoke through the yoke cover, canopy, and downrod.
- Install Downrod: Insert the downrod into the yoke, reinstall the downrod pin and downrod clip. Retighten the two set screws. Note: Measure 8 inches of lead wire and cut excess. Strip 1/2″ insulation from each wire end. WARNING: Do not cut braided cable.
- Secure Downrod: Install the ball end of the downrod into the mounting bracket opening. Rotate the downrod until the tab in the mounting bracket seats in the slot in the downrod ball. WARNING: Ensure the fan/downrod does not rotate in the mounting bracket. Failure to align the slot and tab may result in fan falling.
- Secondary Hanging System (Canada required, US optional): Feed the loop of the braided cable through the outlet box. For US installation, the braided cable can be cut and removed. For Canadian installation, the secondary hanging system is required.
- Install Support Screw: Install secondary support screw, secondary spring washer, and support washer into the ceiling brace. Lift the braided cable over the ceiling brace and place the open loop around the secondary support screw. Note: Ceiling support brace may need access from above. Important: The braided cable must form a complete circle around the support brace.
- Tighten Support Screw: Tighten the secondary support screw to secure the braided cable.
- Wire Connections: Use wire connectors to connect fan wires to power supply wires. Connect white to white (neutral), black and blue to black (hot). Connect green wire (downrod/bracket) to bare/green (ground). Note: For closemount, only two green wires connect. If a second hot wire is available, connect it to the blue fan wire for separate light control. Important: Turn wires upward into the outlet box. Place black and white connections on opposite sides. WARNING: Do NOT wire the fan motor to a variable-speed wall control.
- Attach Canopy: Raise the canopy, align mounting bracket screws with canopy's J-shaped slots. Turn canopy clockwise until screws are engaged. Install the two previously removed mounting bracket screws into the round holes. Securely tighten all mounting bracket screws.
- Attach Blades: Partially insert blade screws with blade washers through the blade and into the blade arm. Tighten each blade screw with a Phillips screwdriver, starting with the middle one. Repeat for remaining blades and arms.
- Attach Blade Arms to Motor: Install blade arms to the underside of the motor assembly using previously removed motor screws. Tighten each blade arm completely.
- Install Light Kit: Remove three switch housing screws. Connect single-pin connectors from switch housing to light kit (blue to black, white to white). Secure light kit to switch housing with the three switch housing screws.
- Install Bulbs: Install E26-base bulbs into the light kit sockets. Important: Allow bulbs and light kit to cool before replacing bulbs.
- Attach Glass Bowl: Remove finial, finial cap, hex nut, and rubber washer. Feed pull chain through the glass bowl's off-center hole. Feed the other pull chain through the center hole. Place glass bowl onto the light kit's threaded rod. Secure with rubber washer and hex nut. Attach finial cap and finial. Proceed to Step 22.
- No Light Kit Option (Optional): Remove light kit by removing hex nut and washer from switch housing cap. Insert plug button into the center of the switch housing cap.
- Install Switch Housing Cap: Remove three switch housing screws from the top edge of the light kit. Install the switch housing cap to the bottom of the switch housing with the three switch housing screws.
- Attach Pull Chain Extension.
- Attach Pull Chain Extensions to Pull Chains. Note: The pull chain in the center of the light kit controls the light.
- Restore Power: Turn on electrical power at the main fuse or circuit breaker and the wall switch. Installation is complete.
Operating Instructions
- Fan Operation for Comfort: Adjusting the thermostat setting can be done without feeling a difference in comfort.
- Reverse Switch:
- In warmer weather: Push the reverse switch down for downward airflow (wind chill effect).
- In cooler weather: Push the reverse switch up for upward airflow (moves stagnant, hot air).
Important: Wait for the fan to stop before moving the reverse switch. The switch must be fully up or down for the fan to operate. If set in the middle, the fan will not operate.
- Fan Speed and Light Control:
- Fan Pull Chain: Four positions: One pull = HIGH, Two pulls = MEDIUM, Three pulls = LOW, Four pulls = OFF.
- Light Pull Chain: Turns the light ON and OFF.
