Connection Plate System
Make your initial connections with all equipment powered off, and ensure all main volume controls are turned completely down.
General Connection Steps:
- Connect one side of the signal cable to your audio mixer's output (left/right) using a TRS or XLR connector. Connect the other side to the line input (combo jack) of your active speaker cabinet.
- Connect the power cord to the mains.
- Turn on your mixer first, then the active speaker cabinets.
- Turn up the volume control of the active speaker cabinets.
- Use the PFL function to set the proper input level for the mixer and adjust the Main Mix Level control to manipulate the output level.
- After use, turn off your stereo power amplifier first, then the mixer.
Example: SOHO S10/S12/S15 with SOHO V4/V8 Satellites
Diagram Description: Illustrates connecting a mixer to SOHO S10/S12/S15 subwoofers, which then connect to SOHO V4/V8 passive satellites via speaker cables. Signal cables run from the mixer's Left/Right Main Mix Outputs to the respective inputs on the subwoofers.
Setup for Singer-Songwriters: SOHO S10/S12/S15 loudspeakers are ideal for singer-songwriters. Bring your instrument and microphone; the SOHO loudspeakers, cables, and power cords offer compact and portable perfection. For example, a dynamic microphone connects to Input 1. Ensure the MIC/line switch is down for a 30dB boost for the microphone. If connecting anything other than a microphone, ensure the switch is OUT. Adjust the microphone level. Connect your guitar directly to Input 2. If using effects, connect the guitar to the effects input and the effects output to Input 2. Adjust the guitar level.
Example: Two Active Subwoofers & Two Passive Satellite Speakers
Diagram Description: Shows connecting two active subwoofers (e.g., SOHO S12/S15) to a mixer, and then connecting the passive satellites (e.g., FLX 5) to the subwoofers via Speakon cables. Signal cables run from the mixer's outputs to the subwoofer inputs.
Steps:
- Connect one side of the signal cable to your mixer's output (left/right) with a TRS or XLR connector, and the other side to the line input (combo) in the active subwoofer (using a TRS to XLR connector). Then, connect the Speakon cable from the subwoofer's power output to the satellites' input.
- Complete other connections as illustrated.
- Turn on your mixer first, then the stereo power amplifier.
- Turn up the volume controls of your amplifier to about 70%.
- Use the PFL function to set the proper input level for the mixer and adjust the Main Mix Level control to manipulate the output level.
- After using, turn off your stereo power amplifier first, then the mixer.
Example: System with FLX 5 Passive Speakers
Diagram Description: Illustrates connecting a mixer to SOHO S12/S15 subwoofers, which then connect to FLX 5 passive satellites via speaker cables. Signal cables run from the mixer's Left/Right Main Mix Outputs to the respective inputs on the subwoofers.
Frequency Response Diagrams
The document includes frequency response graphs for various system configurations, showing the decibel (dB) level across different frequencies (Hz). These graphs help visualize the speaker's performance.

Wiring Connections
Proper wiring is essential for optimal performance. The manual details connections for both active and passive speaker cabinets.
For Active Speaker Cabinets:
Connections are typically made using balanced or unbalanced cables. Examples include:
- Balanced: TIP-RING-SLEEVE configurations using XLR or TRS connectors.
- Unbalanced: TIP-SLEEVE configurations using TS or RCA connectors.
For Passive Speaker Cabinets:
Use only Speakon connectors for passive speaker cabinets. The Speakon connector has four terminals (1+, 1-, 2+, 2-). For Topp Pro cabinets, only terminals 1+ and 1- are used to connect the Speaker+/Speaker-, with terminals 2+ and 2- not being used.
