Insert the Batteries Unlock t he Bat t ery door by using a t hin coin t o t urn t he lock under t he CHS t o a horizont al posit ion (t urn 90 degr ees) . Inst all t he bat t eries in t heir correct posit ion as indicat ed by t he +/ - symbols. Important: Only use NiMH Rechargeable batteries. Do NOT use Alkaline Bat t e r ie s
Attach the Lanyard (opt ional) Det ach t he st ring loop of t he t et her f rom t he lanyard. Then f eed t he st ring loop t hrough t he slot in t he Twist -lock and t hen t hrough t he end of t he loop. Pull t ight so t he st ring loop is secure t o t he Twist lock, Reat t ach t he st ring loop t o t he t et her f rom t he Lanyard. If desired, at t ach t he t et her t o a lanyard or belt . Charge the CHS The CHS must be f ully charged bef ore first use. Please allow 5 hours uninterrupt ed charging f or t he init ial bat t ery char ge. For the 7Di or 7DiRx, lift the rubber flap to access t he power connect or.

BASIC FUNCTIONALITY

BASIC MODE (HID)
Android: Connect Android Device in Basic Mode (HID) 1. Power on t he CHS. Make sure t he CHS is discoverable (unpaired).
2. Touch Home | Menu | Settings | Wireless & Networks | Bluetooth se t t ings
3. Make sure t he device has Bluet oot h " On" . Scan f or devices. 4. In t he list of f ound devices, select Socket CHS [ xxxxxx] . Tap Pair. 5. The CHS will connect t o t he Android device. 6. The CHS will beep once af t er it has connect ed and is ready t o scan bar-
codes.
*Apple: Connect Apple iOS Device or Mac OS Device Basic Mode (HID) In t his mode t he scanner works and behaves j ust like a keyboard. Theref ore, CHS will work wit h Saf ari, Not es, and any ot her applicat ions t hat support s an act ive cursor. 1. Power on t he CHS. Make sure t he CHS is discoverable (unpaired). 2. St art a Bluet oot h device search.
· iOS: Tap Settings | General | Bluetooth. Turn on Bluet oot h. A Bluet oot h device search will begin.
· Mac OS: Click Syst em Pref erences | Int ernet & Wireless | Bluet oot h. In Bluet oot h pref erences, select t he On checkbox. Click Set up New Device. . . A Bluet oot h device search will begin.
3. In t he device list , t ap on CHS [ xxxxxx] . Tap Pair. 4. The CHS will connect t o t he Apple device. 5. The CHS will beep once af t er it has connect ed and is ready t o scan
bar codes.
*For Apple iOS Keyboard (only for Basic Mode) · To enable/ disable keyboard pop-up f eat ure, double t ap (press) t he power
but t on.
Windows: Connect Windows PC Power on t he CHS. Make sure t he CHS is discoverable (unpaired). 1. Use your comput er's Bluet oot h Set t ings t o connect t o t he CHS. 2. Open Devices and Print ers and select " Add a device" . 3. In t he device list , select Socket CHS [ xxxxxx] . Click Next . 4. If a passkey is request ed, ent er 0000 (f our zeroes). Click OK.
Or Pair Now. 5. Follow t he remaining screens t o complet e t he wizard.
Note: On some computers the CHS will have to be configured as Basic Mode (HID) Peripherals (see next page).

WINDOWS HID (PERIPHERALS) MODE Windows: Connect Windows PC as a HID Peripheral 1. Power on t he CHS and scan t his barcode. The CHS will beep 3 t imes.
2. Turn on Bluet oot h on your PDA or PC and st art a device search. 3. Select Socket CHS. If prompt ed f or a passkey, ent er 0000 (f our zeroes). If
prompt ed t o select services, select Input Device. 4. Af t er t he CHS connect s and is ready t o scan barcodes, it will beep once. Now you are ready to scan barcodes!
To connect to a new device, you must first unpair the CHS See page 12.

SPP MODE
Connect Android device in SPP mode
Note: Socket Scan 10 sof t ware inst allat ion required.
1. Power on t he CHS and scan t his barcode. The CHS will beep 3 t imes.
2. Turn Bluet oot h on f or your device. Go t o Set t ings > Bluet oot h. A Bluet oot h Devices search will begin.
3. Tap Socket CHS[ xxxxxx] in t he list of Devices f ound. Af t er a f ew seconds t he " Not Paired" st at us will change t o " Connect ed" and t he CHS Blue LED will blink every 3 seconds confirming the connection.
4. Go t o Google Play St ore, search f or " Socket Scan 10" . 5. Download & inst all. Follow t he on screen inst ruct ions. 6. Open Socket Scan 10 applicat ion. 7. When prompt ed t o set Socket Scan 10 as t he keyboard
language, t ap Back . 8. Go t o phone Set t ings / Language and Input 9. Under Keyboard Set t ings, select Socket Scan 10. 10. Open Socket Scan 10 on your device. 11. Tap t he Menu * icon, t hen select Input Met hod.
* icon may not be visible. Tap where t he menu would normally appear. 12. On t he next screen, select Socket Scan 10 as input met hod. 13. Tap t he " Set Up Input Met hod" . 14. In Socket Scan 10, t ap t he Menu * icon t hen select Socket EZ Pair.
Note: Select SocketScan 10 to configure the keyboard language or configure t he but t on t o a scan t rigger but t on 15.Tap t he opt ion " Bluet oot h" . 16. Tap Socket CHS[ xxxxxx] * f rom t he list of devices f ound. 17. The CHS will beep once t o indicat e connect ed st at e and is ready t o scan barcodes. Close/ exit applicat ion. Now you are ready t o scan barcodes!

WINDOWS PC
Connect Windows PC in SPP Mode Note: Make sure you have administ rat ive privileges. 1. Download t he lat est Socket Scan 10 sof t ware f rom Socket Mobile' s support
web page. 2. Follow t he on-screen inst ruct ions t o inst all t he sof t ware. 3. In Socket Scan 10 Set t ings, select an incoming Bluet oot h serial COM port . 4. Power on t he CHS and scan t his barcode. The CHS will beep 3 t imes.

5. Use t he Bluet oot h sof t ware on your comput er t o st art a device search.
6. Tap Socket CHS[ xxxxxx] * in t he list of Devices f ound. If prompt ed f or a passkey ent er 0000 (f our zeroes).
*The charact ers in bracket s are t he last 6 charact ers of t he Bluet oot h address. See label in t he CHS bat t ery compart ment
Note: If prompt ed, please click Ports t o creat e a new incoming COM port in Bluet oot h set t ings.
7. Follow t he remaining screen inst ruct ions t o complet e t he process.

8. Click on t he Socket Scan 10 icon

in t he syst em t ray. In t he

pop-up menu, click Socket EZ Pair.

If t he icon does not appear, open Socket Scan 10 by clicking on t he deskt op

short cut .

9. Select 1D Scanner.

10. Select your CHS in t he list and click Pair.

11. Af t er t hey pair, t he comput er will connect t o t he CHS, indicat ed by a beep. The CHS will t hen disconnect , indicat ed by t wo beeps. Click OK.

12. Af t er several seconds, t he CHS will reconnect t o t he comput er, indicat ed

by a beep and t he

icon will also appear in t he syst em t ray.

13. Click X t o close Socket EZ Pair. The CHS Regist rat ion screen will appear.

14. Make sure t he CHS is connect ed t o t he comput er, indicat ed by t he CHS

icon in t he syst em t ray.

iOS MODE
Connect Apple device in iOS Mode Please check wit h your scanner applicat ion vendor or visit www.socketmobile.com/appstore to confirm your Scanner-enabled applicat ion support s t he CHS. Inst all t he scanner enabled sof t ware. If t he scanner-enabled Applicat ion does not provide inst ruct ions on how t o connect wit h t he CHS, please use t he f ollowing st eps. 1. Power on t he CHS. Make sure t he CHS is discoverable (unpaired). 2. To change the profile to iOS mode scan this barcode. The CHS will beep 3
t imes.
Use with iPad, iPod touch, and iPhones.
3. Turn Bluet oot h on t he Apple device. Go t o Set t ings > Bluet oot h. A Bluet oot h Devices search will begin.
4. Tap Socket CHS[ xxxxxx] * in t he list of Devices f ound. Af t er a f ew seconds t he " Not Paired" st at us will change t o " Connect ed" and t he CHS Blue LED will blink every 3 seconds confirming the connection.

5. Open t he Scanner-enabled Applicat ion. The CHS will beep once indicat ing t hat it is connect ed t o t he appropriat e applicat ion.

BLUETOOTH UNPAIRING
Note: This procedure will put t he CHS in discoverable mode. Step 1: Unpairing the CHS: Delete the Bluetooth Pairing
If t he CHS is paired wit h a device, unpair it bef ore t rying t o connect t o a different device. a. Power on t he CHS. b. Press and hold down t he t rigger and power but t on. c. Af t er you hear 3 beeps, release bot h but t ons. The CHS will unpair and aut omat ically power of f . The next t ime you power on t he CHS, it will be discoverable. Step 2: Remove the CHS from the Bluetooth list on the host device Import ant : Bot h st eps above must be done t o complet e t he unpairing.
