Octopus "Octopus Go: Mobile Octopus Black Card Lucky Draw" New Customer Welcome Promotion Terms and Conditions
The "Octopus Go: Mobile Octopus Black Card Lucky Draw" New Customer Welcome Promotion (the "Promotion") is organized by Octopus Cards Limited (the "Company").
This Promotion is open to Octopus holders who are first-time users of Mobile Octopus on an Eligible Device (as defined in Clause 11) and are bound by the following terms and conditions (the "Terms and Conditions").
By participating in this Promotion, you are deemed to have read, accepted, and agreed to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. The Company reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions without prior notice.
The Company's Privacy Policy Statement, Octopus Issuance Terms and Conditions, Schedule of Charges and Guidelines for Octopus Usage (the "Schedule of Charges"), Octopus App Terms of Use, and other terms and conditions announced by the Company on www.octopus.com.hk and/or the Octopus App, as amended from time to time, shall apply to this Promotion.
In these Terms and Conditions, "Octopus App" refers to the "Octopus Mobile Application" as defined in the Octopus Issuance Terms and Conditions. "Autoload Service", "Faster Payment System", "Mobile Octopus", "Octopus", "Octopus Wallet", "Rented Octopus", "Personalised Octopus", and "Stored Value Limit" refer to the definitions in the Octopus Issuance Terms and Conditions. "Citi Octopus" refers to the Citi Octopus Platinum Card and/or Citi Octopus Gold Card (without credit card function) issued by Citibank (Hong Kong) Limited which has been added to Apple Pay. "Tourist Octopus App" referred to in these Terms and Conditions refers to the mobile application developed and operated by Octopus Company, commonly known or marketed as "Tourist Octopus App".
The promotion period for this Promotion shall be from 00:00 on June 23, 2025, to 23:59 on September 20, 2025 (Hong Kong time) (inclusive of both dates) (the "Promotion Period").
Eligibility and Offer
Subject to these Terms and Conditions, if you:
- 6.1 Use an Eligible Device (as defined in Clause 11);
- 6.2 Have never added an Eligible Mobile Octopus (as defined in Clause 12) to an Eligible Device before the Promotion Period;
- 6.3 Successfully add an Eligible Mobile Octopus to an Eligible Device during the Promotion Period (the "Designated Mobile Octopus");
- 6.4 Complete a Qualifying Transaction (as defined in Clause 8) using the Designated Mobile Octopus during the Promotion Period; and
- 6.5 Provide the Designated Mobile Octopus number and agree to these Terms and Conditions via the activity page titled "Octopus Go: Mobile Octopus Black Card Lucky Draw" within the Octopus App during the Promotion Period, and successfully register to participate in this Promotion;
Additional requirements for Android customers only:
- 6.6 Have installed the latest version of the Octopus App on an Eligible Device and registered and logged into an Octopus Wallet account;
- 6.7 Successfully add the Designated Mobile Octopus to Google Wallet (the "Google Wallet"), a mobile application operated by Google LLC;
you will be deemed to have successfully participated in the Promotion (each referred to as a "Participant", collectively the "Participants"). Each Participant who meets the Promotion Cap (as defined in Clause 9) will receive a HK$100 Octopus top-up welcome offer (the "Offer").
Ineligible Mobile Octopus
The following Octopus are not considered eligible Mobile Octopus for this Promotion:
- 7.1 Any Octopus added via "Tourist Octopus" (Octopus App for Tourists) on an Eligible Device;
- 7.2 Any Octopus that, prior to the Promotion Period:
- (a) Was added to an Eligible Device that had previously had Mobile Octopus added;
- (b) Was added to an Eligible Device with the same Octopus Wallet number as an Android version of Octopus (defined as Mobile Octopus);
- (c) Was added to an iPhone and Apple Watch with the same Apple ID (as defined in Clause 11) as a version of Octopus (defined as Mobile Octopus);
- (d) Was added to an iPhone and Apple Watch with the same Apple ID as Citi Octopus on Apple Wallet (defined as Mobile Octopus);
- (e) Was added to an Eligible Device with the same Samsung Wallet (as defined in Clause 11) account as a Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay (defined as Mobile Octopus); or
- (f) Was added to an Eligible Device with the same Huawei Pay (as defined in Clause 11) ID as a Huawei Pay Octopus (defined as Mobile Octopus).
Qualifying Transaction
A Qualifying Transaction (the "Qualifying Transaction") means a transaction successfully completed using the Designated Mobile Octopus at any time during the Promotion Period, with a single transaction amount of HK$50 or more. Qualifying Transactions do not include:
- 8.1 Any top-up transaction (whether by Autoload Service, cash top-up, top-up via Google Wallet, Apple Wallet, Samsung Wallet or Huawei Pay using a credit card or debit card, or top-up via Octopus Wallet account in Octopus App, or top-up via Faster Payment System bank mobile application, bank account, credit card or debit card, or other methods);
- 8.2 Any consumption transaction that the Octopus card company fails to receive when processing data for this Promotion; and
- 8.3 Any unauthorized transaction, or any consumption transaction that the Octopus card company fails to receive for any reason when processing data for this Promotion, or any consumption transaction that is ultimately rejected, returned, cancelled, or refunded.
Promotion Cap
The Offer will be given on a first-come, first-served basis to the first 20,000 Participants who meet all the requirements in Clause 6 (the "Promotion Cap"), while stocks last.
Each Participant is entitled to receive the Offer only once under this Promotion.
Eligible Devices
The "Eligible Devices" referred to in these Terms and Conditions are defined as follows:

Eligible Mobile Octopus Types
The "Eligible Mobile Octopus" referred to in these Terms and Conditions refers to the following types of Mobile Octopus first added to an Eligible Device during the Promotion Period (defined as Mobile Octopus):

The "Octopus type applicable to Apple Wallet or Octopus App" referred to in these Terms and Conditions refers to "Rented Octopus" or "Personalised Rented Octopus" of "Adult" or "Elderly" type, excluding the specified Octopus card types listed on the Company's website.
The "Octopus type applicable to Smart Octopus and Huawei Pay Octopus" referred to in these Terms and Conditions refers to "Rented Octopus" or "Personalised Rented Octopus" of "Adult" or "Elderly" type, excluding the specified Octopus card types listed on the Company's website.
Offer Redemption Details
The Offer can be redeemed from the seventh (7th) day after you have met all the requirements in Clause 6 and the Company has received or obtained the relevant transaction data for the Qualifying Transaction (the "Redemption Date"), up to thirty (30) days after the Redemption Date (the "Redemption Period"). For the determination of eligibility for Clause 6, the transaction data for Qualifying Transactions received or obtained by the Company, and the Redemption Date, the Company's decision shall be final and binding on all parties.
You must follow the steps outlined on the Company's official website www.octopus.com.hk/collection to redeem the promotional gift. If you redeem the promotional gift at an Octopus Service Point, follow the instructions on the Octopus Service Point screen to credit the Offer to your Designated Mobile Octopus. For the locations of Octopus Service Points, please visit www.octopus.com.hk/tc/consumer/card-replacement/octopus-service-points/index.html.
In accordance with these Terms and Conditions, Octopus Cards Limited is not obliged to notify Participants of the time to redeem or forfeit the Offer. Nevertheless, if a Participant has opted to receive push notifications from the Octopus App before the Redemption Period, such Participant will receive a push notification from the Octopus App regarding the redemption of the Offer.
Each Designated Mobile Octopus can store a maximum of the applicable stored value limit as stated in the Schedule of Charges, which is currently HK$1,000 or HK$3,000 (as applicable). If the applicable stored value limit has been reached at the time of redemption of the Offer, you must first spend an amount stored in the Designated Mobile Octopus that is not less than the amount of the Offer you are entitled to, before you can redeem the Offer again within the Redemption Period.
In the event of the following circumstances, you will be deemed to have automatically forfeited the Offer without further notice: (a) the Participant fails to redeem the Offer within the Redemption Period; or (b) at the time of redemption, the Designated Mobile Octopus has been removed, refunded, suspended, cancelled, or terminated, or is no longer valid for any reason; In no event shall the Participant make any claim against the Company. The Company shall not be liable for the Participant's failure or inability to successfully redeem the Offer under any circumstances, including but not limited to the reset of Apple Wallet, Apple ID, Samsung Wallet, Google Wallet, Huawei Pay or Huawei Pay ID, suspension, cancellation or termination of the Designated Mobile Octopus for any reason, loss of the Eligible Device, or reset to factory settings or use of "Find My iPhone"; or at the time the Offer is credited to the Designated Mobile Octopus or when the Offer is redeemed, the Participant's Octopus Wallet is not connected to the Eligible Device or the Octopus App has been uninstalled from the relevant Eligible Device.
General
Each Participant understands and agrees that when making a Qualifying Transaction, Octopus Cards Limited is not the supplier of the products or services purchased, and Octopus Cards Limited shall not be liable for the products or services provided by the merchant under any circumstances. Octopus Cards Limited shall not be liable to any Participant or any other person or entity for any products or services provided by the merchant in connection with the Qualifying Transaction, including but not limited to the quality, supply, or description of the products and/or services purchased.
Any inquiries or disputes regarding this Promotion should be sent by post to Octopus Cards Limited Customer Relations Department (Address: 46/F, Manhattan Place, 23 Wang Tai Road, Kowloon Bay, Kowloon, Hong Kong) or by calling the Octopus Customer Service Hotline (Tel: 2266 2222) on or before November 28, 2025. You must provide the Designated Mobile Octopus number to redeem the Offer and provide this number when making inquiries or disputes regarding this Promotion. If you are unable to provide this information, the Company may not be able to process your inquiry or dispute.
If a Participant commits fraud or is suspected of fraud, or if the Company believes that a Participant has manipulated the machines or computers in any way to participate in this Promotion, the Company reserves the right to cancel their eligibility. Any transaction found to be fraudulent will result in the cancellation of the relevant Designated Mobile Octopus and/or the Participant's eligibility for this Promotion.
By participating in this Promotion, each Participant agrees that the Company may use and retain the Octopus number of the Designated Mobile Octopus collected from the Participant and details of the Qualifying Transaction (as applicable) for the purposes of this Promotion, including (a) verifying the Participant's eligibility and (b) handling any inquiries or resolving any disputes. Any information collected by the Company for this Promotion or Offer will be retained for six (6) months (the "Retention Period") after the end of the Promotion Period and will be destroyed by the Company thereafter.
The Company reserves the right to change or substitute the original Offer with other offers of similar or equivalent value as it deems fit. The Offer cannot be exchanged for cash or otherwise.
In the event of any dispute regarding this Promotion or these Terms and Conditions, the Company reserves the right to make the final interpretation and decision on this Promotion and these Terms and Conditions, which shall be binding on all parties.
The Company may, at its sole discretion, amend or modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Such amendments will take effect immediately upon posting on the Company's website www.octopus.com.hk.
If this Promotion is interfered with or cannot be carried out due to any reason beyond the reasonable foresight, control, or avoidance of the Company (including force majeure events, etc.), the Company reserves the final decision-making power for subsequent handling and may, to the extent permitted by law, change, suspend, terminate, or cancel all or part of this Promotion as appropriate. In no event shall the Company be liable or responsible to the Participant or any other person or entity in connection with or related to this Promotion.
The Company does not guarantee that the Octopus App will be available and shall not be responsible for any interruption of service that affects anyone's participation in this Promotion.
Except to the extent prohibited by law, the Company (including its officers, employees, and agents) shall not be liable for any and all direct, indirect, special, or consequential losses arising out of or in connection with this Promotion, including but not limited to any liability (including negligence), personal injury, or any loss or damage (including loss of profits, loss of opportunity, etc.). Such losses or damages include, but are not limited to, any delay, loss, alteration, damage, or misrepresentation of any transaction, claim, or Offer (whether or not received by the Company) due to any reason (whether or not within the Company's control) (a) any technical issues or equipment malfunctions; (b) any theft, unauthorized use, or third-party interference; (c) any reason beyond the Company's reasonable control; (d) any change in the value of the Offer as described in these Terms and Conditions; or (e) the use of the Offer.
Each Participant agrees to be responsible for and to indemnify the Company against any and all claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including legal fees on a full indemnity basis) arising from any breach of these Terms and Conditions and/or in connection with this Promotion.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, each Participant shall bear their own costs and/or expenses incurred in participating in this Promotion, and shall not seek reimbursement from the Company.
No person other than the Participant and the Company shall have the right to enforce these Terms and Conditions or to derive any benefit therefrom under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Ordinance (Cap. 623 of the Laws of Hong Kong).
If there is any conflict or discrepancy between the English and Chinese versions of these Terms and Conditions, the English version shall prevail.
These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Hong Kong, without regard to its conflict of laws principles.
