Control Descriptions
SD Card Slot
Insert your SD memory card here. The card's contacts must point downwards. Only SD memory cards with a capacity of up to 4 GB and MP3 format titles are recognized. SDHC memory cards cannot be read.
SEARCH Mode
The SEARCH button switches the rotary wheel to the "fast forward/reverse" function. The LED lights up when this function is active. Note: If the rotary wheel is not operated for 15 seconds in replay mode, the LED turns off, and the "fast forward/reverse" function is deactivated.
- Function Active: In replay and pause mode, the rotary wheel is used for fast forward/reverse within the current track.
- Function Deactivated: In replay mode, the rotary wheel is used for the "Pitch Bend" function. In pause mode, it allows frame-accurate searching up to 1 frame (1/75 second).
SGL/CTN (Single/Continuous)
- A: This button determines the playback mode. It switches between single title playback (Einzeltitelwiedergabe) and continuous play (Gesamttitelwiedergabe). The default setting is continuous play, where all titles on the SD card are played sequentially, and the unit pauses after the last title. Press the button to switch to single title playback (display shows SINGLE); the unit pauses after each played title.
- B: Holding this button for approximately 2 seconds activates/deactivates the "Auto Cue" function.
LCD Display
Shows all device functions and SD card data. A detailed description of display elements is provided in the LCD Display Elements section.
PITCH On/Off
Activates/deactivates the PITCH slider. The LED lights up when activated.
PITCH Control Slider
Sets the playback speed. When the "Tempo Lock" function is active, the tonal pitch remains unchanged. The slider's setting is effective only when the PITCH ON/OFF button is pressed. The pitch percentage is displayed.
Card Select
The CARD SELECT button switches the playback unit between drive 1 and drive 2. LEDs indicate which drive is active: red for drive 1, green for drive 2.
Time/Menu
- A: Switches the time display between track playback time (Elapsed) and track remaining time (Remain).
- B: Holding this button for 2 seconds accesses the SDP-1's preset menu.
TAP/BPM
Use this button to manually determine the beats per minute (BPM) of a track if the automatic beat counter does not detect a clear signal. Briefly press the button to deactivate the automatic beat counter. Then, tap the button several times in time with the track. The tempo is displayed in BPM. Hold the button for 2 seconds to switch back to the automatic beat counter.
Tempo Lock
TEMPO LOCK activates/deactivates the tempo lock function. With Tempo Lock active, you can adjust the playback speed using the pitch slider without changing the title's pitch.
Track Selection
- A: Turn the control left or right to select tracks. To select folders, activate folder search mode with the FOLDER button. Titles and folders are displayed.
- B: Pressing the control displays different ID3 tag data for the track (Artist, Genre, Bitrate, Folder Name, File Name, Title Name).
Rotary Wheel
- A (Search function deactivated, LED off): Used for "Pitch Bend" in replay mode and for frame-accurate searching in pause mode.
- B (Search function activated, LED on): Used for fast forward/reverse in replay and pause modes.
CUE
- A: Pressing the button during playback stops the device, returns to the last set Cue point, and enters pause mode (LED glows). The LED flashes when a new Cue point is set.
- B: In pause mode, holding the button allows previewing the track. Releasing the button returns the device to the last set Cue point.
Play/Pause Button
Switches between playback and pause. The green LED glows during playback and flashes in pause mode.
Frame Search Buttons
These buttons allow frame-accurate searching (1/75 second) within a track. Hold the buttons for fast forward/reverse.
PITCH BEND
The "Pitch Bend" function creates a temporary change in playback speed. Holding the "-" button slows down the track's tempo. Holding the "+" button speeds it up. Releasing the buttons returns the device to the previously set speed.
% (PITCH) Button
Selects the speed adjustment range. Each press cycles through 4%, 8%, and 16%.

5. Installation
Place the device on a level surface or install it in your rack. For 19" (483 mm) rack installation, 2 U (Units) of height are required. It is recommended to use a "Double-Door-Rack" that allows access to both the front and rear panels. The rack should be equipped with a cooling fan. When selecting the installation location, ensure that warm air can escape from the rack and that there is sufficient space between devices. Continuous overheating can lead to device damage. You can secure the device in the rack with four M6 screws. However, fastening the device solely by its front panel is insufficient; uniform fastening using floor and side rails is necessary for safety.
Switch off the SDP-1 and any connected devices before making or changing connections.
Connect the stereo outputs AUDIO OUTPUT L/R via RCA cables to the line inputs on the mixer or amplifier. Ensure that the right/left assignment (plug color red/white) matches on both devices.
The SDP-1's player mechanisms can be remotely controlled for start/pause functions using a mixer with a fader start function. Use the supplied mini jack cables to connect the FADER START outputs of the SDP-1 to the corresponding inputs on the mixer. Please note that the fader start function only works with suitable mixers (e.g., MX-540, EX-840, CM-860). The mixer must be connected via a 3.5 mm jack to the SDP-1. To start playback, the tip (positive connection) of the jack is connected to the audio ground via a short impulse. To pause playback, the sleeve (negative connection) of the jack is connected to the audio ground via a short impulse. The mixer must have a switch, button, or fader that, when activated for the respective channel, connects the tip to the SDP-1's audio ground for starting playback and the sleeve for pausing playback.
Connect the SDP-1 to the mains power supply.
6. Operation
SD memory cards with MP3 format titles and a capacity of up to 4 GB can be used. SD memory cards with a capacity exceeding 4 GB cannot be read. SDHC memory cards are not recognized.
(Detailed operation instructions correspond to the control descriptions provided in Section 4. Please refer to those descriptions for specific button functions and modes.)
7. Cleaning and Maintenance
DANGER TO LIFE! Disconnect from mains before performing any maintenance work!
