Damages caused by disregarding this manual are not subject to warranty. The manufacturer is not liable for resulting defects or problems.

Please check for obvious transport damages before initial operation. If damages are found on the power unit or casing, do not operate the device and consult your dealer.

The device complies with protection class III and must always be operated with an appropriate transformer. Always plug in the power unit last.

3. Operating Determinations

The SDP-1 is specifically designed for professional DJ applications. It features functions tailored for DJs, such as a beat counter, adjustable playback speed, cueing, seamless loop playback, single title playback, and easy search via a rotary wheel.

The SDP-1 has two player mechanisms that play SD cards with MP3 files. SD cards with a capacity of up to 4 GB can be used. The unit is not compatible with SDHC cards and only supports the MP3 format.

The SDP-1 is equipped with an unlimited anti-shock memory to compensate for shocks or vibrations.

This product is approved for connection to 6 V DC, 50/60 Hz and is designed for indoor use only.

The device must only be operated with the included power unit. The power unit is built to protection class 2, and the SD card player is protection class 3.

5. Installation

Place the device on a level surface or install it in your rack. For 19" (483 mm) rack installation, 2 U (Units) of height are required. It is recommended to use a "Double-Door-Rack" that allows access to both the front and rear panels. The rack should be equipped with a cooling fan. When selecting the installation location, ensure that warm air can escape from the rack and that there is sufficient space between devices. Continuous overheating can lead to device damage. You can secure the device in the rack with four M6 screws. However, fastening the device solely by its front panel is insufficient; uniform fastening using floor and side rails is necessary for safety.

Switch off the SDP-1 and any connected devices before making or changing connections.

Connect the stereo outputs AUDIO OUTPUT L/R via RCA cables to the line inputs on the mixer or amplifier. Ensure that the right/left assignment (plug color red/white) matches on both devices.

The SDP-1's player mechanisms can be remotely controlled for start/pause functions using a mixer with a fader start function. Use the supplied mini jack cables to connect the FADER START outputs of the SDP-1 to the corresponding inputs on the mixer. Please note that the fader start function only works with suitable mixers (e.g., MX-540, EX-840, CM-860). The mixer must be connected via a 3.5 mm jack to the SDP-1. To start playback, the tip (positive connection) of the jack is connected to the audio ground via a short impulse. To pause playback, the sleeve (negative connection) of the jack is connected to the audio ground via a short impulse. The mixer must have a switch, button, or fader that, when activated for the respective channel, connects the tip to the SDP-1's audio ground for starting playback and the sleeve for pausing playback.

Connect the SDP-1 to the mains power supply.

6. Operation

SD memory cards with MP3 format titles and a capacity of up to 4 GB can be used. SD memory cards with a capacity exceeding 4 GB cannot be read. SDHC memory cards are not recognized.

(Detailed operation instructions correspond to the control descriptions provided in Section 4. Please refer to those descriptions for specific button functions and modes.)

7. Cleaning and Maintenance

DANGER TO LIFE! Disconnect from mains before performing any maintenance work!

The device should be cleaned regularly of dirt such as dust. Use a lint-free, damp cloth for cleaning. Never use alcohol or any solvents for cleaning! There are no user-serviceable parts inside the device. Maintenance and service work are exclusively reserved for authorized dealers! If spare parts are needed, please use only original spare parts. If you have further questions, your dealer is always available to assist you.
