Safety Precautions
This product complies with the requirements of the following directives of the European Union for CE conformity: 2014/30/EU (electromagnetic compatibility), 2011/65/EU (RoHS).
The following safety precautions must be observed before operation. Damages resulting from failure to observe these safety precautions are exempt from any legal claims whatever:
- Comply with the warning labels and other info on the equipment.
- Do not subject the equipment to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures, humidity or dampness.
- Do not subject the equipment to shocks or strong vibrations.
- Do not operate the equipment near strong magnetic fields (motors, transformers etc.).
- Keep hot soldering irons or guns away from the equipment.
- Allow the equipment to stabilize at room temperature before taking up measurement (important for exact measurements).
- Replace the battery as soon as the battery indicator ? appears. With a low battery, the meter might produce false readings.
- Fetch out the battery when the meter will not be used for long period.
- Periodically wipe the cabinet with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not use abrasives or solvents.
- Do not operate the meter before the cabinet has been closed and screwed safely.
- Do not store the meter in a place of explosive, inflammable substances.
- Do not modify the meter in any way.
- Opening the equipment and service- and repair work must only be performed by qualified service personnel.
- Measuring instruments don't belong to children hands.
Cleaning the Cabinet
Clean only with a damp, soft cloth and a commercially available mild household cleanser. Ensure that no water gets inside the equipment to prevent possible shorts and damage to the equipment.

Panel Description
The device features several controls and indicators:
- 1. Photo detector: Long-life Silicon photo diode.
- 2. Display: 5 ½ digit Liquid Crystal Display (LCD).
- 3. Unit-key: Used to switch between measurement units (LUX or ftc) and to turn the backlight on/off.
- 4. Func.-key: Used to switch between different measurement modes (e.g., Data-Hold, MIN, MAX).
- 5. ON/OFF-key: Powers the unit on or off.
Operating Instruction
- Activate the unit by pressing the ON/OFF-key.
- Remove the protection cover from the photo-diode (pull off upwards).
- Press the Unit-key to switch between the two measurement units (LUX or ftc).
- To switch on the LCD backlight, press and hold the Unit-button for 2 seconds. To turn off the backlight, press and hold the Unit-button for 2 seconds again.
- If applicable, press the Func.-key to activate the Data-Hold function.
- If applicable, press the Func.-key again to activate the "MAX" or "MIN" measurement modes.
- Move the photo-detector to the light source in a horizontal position.
- Read the illuminance value from the LC-Display. If the value exceeds the range, "OL" is displayed.
- After the measurement, power off the unit and apply the protection cap to the photo-diode.
Spectral Sensitivity Characteristic
The spectral sensitivity characteristic of the detector, using a photo diode with filters, closely matches the C.I.E. (International Commission on Illumination) photopia curve V(λ). This is illustrated in the following chart:
A graph titled 'Spectral Sensitivity' shows relative sensitivity on the Y-axis (from 0% to 100%) against Wavelength (nm) on the X-axis (from 400 to 700 nm). The curve peaks around 550 nm, representing the human eye's peak sensitivity, and drops off towards the blue and red ends of the visible spectrum, aligning with C.I.E. photopic curve V(λ).

Maintenance
Battery replacement should only be done if power is off.
Battery Replacement
If the sign "BAT" ? appears on the LCD display, it indicates that the battery should be replaced. Remove screws on the back cover and open the case. Replace the exhausted battery with a new battery.
Used-up batteries are hazardous and must be disposed of properly in designated collection containers.
Statutory Notification about the Battery Regulations
The delivery of many devices includes batteries, which for example serve to operate the remote control. There could also be batteries or accumulators built into the device itself. In connection with the sale of these batteries or accumulators, we are obliged under the Battery Regulations to notify our customers of the following:
Please dispose of old batteries at a council collection point or return them to a local shop at no cost. Disposal in domestic refuse is strictly forbidden according to the Battery Regulations. You can return used batteries obtained from us at no charge at the address on the last side in this manual or by posting with sufficient stamps.
Batteries containing harmful substances are marked with the symbol of a crossed-out waste bin ?️❌. Under the waste bin symbol is the chemical symbol for the harmful substance, e.g., "Cd" for cadmium, "Pb" for lead, and "Hg" for mercury.
Further information about the Battery Regulations can be obtained from the Bundesministerium für Umwelt, Naturschutz und Reaktorsicherheit (Federal Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation and Reactor Safety).
