Important Safety Instructions

⚠️ WARNING: Risk of Injury, Fire, and Electric Shock.

Read this entire document before setting up, operating, or servicing your Cricut® Smart Cutting Machine. Follow all enclosed, online, and official Cricut instructional materials.

The "Machine" refers to the Cricut Joy Xtra™.

  • Operating the machine in a manner not prescribed may result in damage, property damage, injury, or death.
  • Machine is intended for adult use only (13+). Always supervise children around the machine.
  • Use only for its intended crafting purpose.
  • INDOOR USE ONLY: Machine is intended for indoor use in dry locations only. Do not use in or near water. Do not immerse in water or any other liquid.
  • Not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or cognitive capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless supervised by a responsible adult.

Servicing and Cleaning:

  • Disconnect power by unplugging the machine before servicing or cleaning.
  • Clean only with a soft cloth dampened with glass cleaner or water. Never use flammable liquids or solvents (like acetone or nail polish remover) as they can permanently damage surfaces.

Blade Handling:

  • Always unplug the machine before replacing the blade. Blades are extremely sharp and require caution. Prevent blade contact with hands and body. Do not allow children to handle blades. Blades and small parts are choking hazards.

General Precautions:

  • Do not open, modify, or tamper with the machine.
  • Do not operate if the machine or cord is damaged. Contact Cricut Member Care at cricut.com/contact or 1-877-727-4288.

  • Position the power cord to prevent tripping, snagging, or unintentional pulling.
  • Place the machine on a strong, flat, level, and stable surface with adequate space for mat movement.
  • Do not place fingers or objects inside the machine while powered on or during operation.
  • Keep hair, jewelry, loose clothing, fingers, body parts, and other items away from moving parts to prevent injury.
  • Do not touch the mat or material during operation, even if movement stops, until the machine ejects them.
  • Never leave or store the machine outdoors, in unheated/unairconditioned spaces, or where it can contact water.

Caution: Moving star wheels during material loading can pinch fingers. Move star wheels fully to the right before selecting material type for projects using the Foil Transfer Tool or Card Mat.

Technical Specifications

Model: Cricut Joy Xtra™ Models: JCTR201C

Description: The Cricut Joy Xtra is a desktop cutting and writing device for helping Do It Yourself (DIY) crafters make crafting projects. It takes images created in a software design environment (Cricut Design Space) and recreates the images in paper, vinyl, etc. using tools to cut and write on these materials.

Mechanical Design: The mechanical design is like that of a small desktop printer or plotter with an electrically driven head that moves the cutting/drawing tools laterally, and feed rollers that move the crafting materials longitudinally. The combination of these movements gives 2-axis motion to perform the desired actions (cutting, drawing, etc.) on the crafting materials in a 2-dimensional plane.
