The LC7i is a 6-channel line output converter designed to provide high-quality sound from factory-installed car radios. It converts the 'speaker level' signal from the factory audio system into a signal optimized for aftermarket amplifiers, simplifying the addition of power and speakers to a factory system. A key feature is AccuBASS™, a patent-pending technology that addresses the common issue of factory sound systems lacking bass at high volumes.
The LC7i is ideal for anyone seeking to significantly improve their car audio sound quality while retaining factory controls and features. With modern factory audio systems often being integral to the car's design, making radio swaps difficult or impossible, the LC7i allows for a high-performance audio system without altering the original head unit. It is particularly beneficial for those who want to add robust bass to a factory system, as it uses active line output conversion circuitry and AccuBASS™ to deliver solid bass at all volume levels, counteracting the common factory bass roll-off at higher volumes.

Many factory systems reduce bass response at high volumes, resulting in thin and weak sound. AccuBASS™ corrects this roll-off, delivering powerful bass at all volume levels.
The LC7i provides up to 8.5 volts of high-output signal to amplifiers, maximizing performance. This is over four times the output of a typical aftermarket head unit. Output level controls allow for fine-tuning of sound quality.
For factory systems with amplified outputs using active crossover networks, internal channel summing eliminates these factory crossovers. This selectable feature allows the LC7i to function as six separate channels, enabling front-to-rear fading with a subwoofer if summing is not used.
GTO™ automatically activates the LC7i upon detecting a signal on the main input, eliminating the need for a separate turn-on wire for the LC7i and connected amplifiers. It includes a turn-on output for aftermarket amplifiers.
The LC7i's compact design allows for flexible placement within the vehicle, simplifying installation and saving time and money.
An optional ACR-1 remote level control allows adjustment of Channel 3 outputs.

The Factory Installed Radio and a Factory Installed Amplifier (with High, Midrange, and Bass outputs) feed into the LC7i. The LC7i's summed signal output connects to a 4 Channel Amplifier (driving Tweeter and Mid speakers) and a Bass Amplifier (driving a Subwoofer).
Factory sound systems often have weak speakers and amplifiers, contributing to poor bass response. To prevent distortion, car manufacturers frequently limit bass response at higher volumes, which diminishes the intended bass in the music. AudioControl developed the patent-pending AccuBASS™ circuit to resolve this limitation. AccuBASS™ automatically activates at a preset volume level and reverses the factory roll-off, restoring the bass as originally designed. This ensures solid bass at all volume levels.

AudioControl approaches line output conversion differently. Unlike passive LOCs, which can introduce distortion, reduce signal, and roll off bass, AudioControl's Active, High Impedance Input stage in the LC7i ensures a ruler-flat frequency response, providing solid bass without signal roll-off. The AudioControl LC7i is also a low-distortion (typically <0.01%) 8.5-volt line driver and line converter. It delivers sound quality comparable to an aftermarket head unit while preserving the convenience and features of the factory-installed source unit. The LC7i embodies the sound quality AudioControl has provided for over 35 years.
This diagram illustrates the internal signal flow of the LC7i. It shows three main inputs (Main, Channel 2, Channel 3) each going through a "Speaker to Pre-Amp level conversion" and a "Level Control". The Main input and Channel 2 input can be summed via a "Summing Mixer" or "Summing Jumper" respectively, leading to Channel 2 and Channel 3 outputs. The Main input also connects to a "GTO™ Signal Sense Turn On" which controls the "Remote On" output (+12v turn on for other products). The Channel 3 input also has an "AccuBASS™" module and an "Optional Sub Level" control before its output. The diagram also shows a "Head Unit +12 volt Remote On" input to the GTO™ system.
