SprintRay Wash GUI

Prepared by Hossein Bassir - revision 3 - 04/14/20

Home Screen

The home screen displays the current status of the wash cycles and available options. By default, if no platform is inserted and the lid is closed, the basket light is illuminated.

Liquid levels are monitored using two leads in each liquid chamber to detect the minimum liquid required for washing.

There are two primary wash settings available: "Normal Wash & Dry" and "Heavy Wash & Dry". Both settings include a drying phase at the end of the cycle.

GUI Display:

  • Top icons indicate status: Wrench ⚙️ (Settings), Basket ?, Platform ?.
  • Cycle 1: Shows "Okay" and a numerical indicator (e.g., "1").
  • Cycle 2: Shows "Okay" and a numerical indicator (e.g., "2").
  • Buttons: "Normal Wash & Dry", "Heavy Wash & Dry".

Platform Wash

When a platform is detected in the machine, the home screen will visually indicate the presence of the platform.

GUI Display: Similar to the home screen, but the "Platform" indicator is active.

Low Liquid or Fresh IPA 99% Warning

If there is insufficient liquid in either chamber, or if a chamber is filled with fresh IPA 99%, the system will display a warning message before starting a wash cycle. The screen allows the user to proceed but prompts a warning.

GUI Display (Initial State):

  • Reservoir 1: "Refill"
  • Reservoir 2: "Refill"
  • Buttons: "Normal Wash & Dry", "Heavy Wash & Dry".

GUI Display (Warning State):

  • Reservoir 1: "Refill"
  • Reservoir 2: "Refill"
  • Warning message: "Unable to detect liquid. Add at least 500mL or press 'Start Anyway' only if using IPA 99%".
  • Buttons: "Cancel", "Start Anyway".

Washing with Single Chamber or Fresh IPA 99%

When liquid is low in a reservoir, it will be indicated with a red color and a "Refill" icon. If fresh IPA 99% is not detected, the system allows a wash cycle to run. This first wash is intended to add resin to the IPA, helping it become detectable for subsequent cycles. This process is repeated until the IPA is sufficiently saturated and detected. The system will continue washing even with this warning.

GUI Display:

  • Cycle 1: "Okay"
  • Cycle 2: "Refill"
  • Warning message: "Unable to detect liquid. Add at least 500mL or press 'Start Anyway' only if using IPA 99%".
  • Buttons: "Cancel", "Start Anyway".

Washing with Undetected Liquid or Fresh IPA 99% in One Chamber

Regardless of one chamber being empty or using fresh IPA 99%, it is recommended to run both Cycle 1 and Cycle 2, followed by the dry cycle. This ensures that if IPA 99% is being used, it is exposed to resin, aiding its detection in subsequent cycles.

Process Flow:

  • Initial State: Shows "Okay" for one cycle and "Refill" for the other, with the warning message.
  • Washing Cycle 1: "Now washing...", with remaining time (e.g., 4 minutes).
  • Washing Cycle 2: "Now washing...", with remaining time.
  • Drying Cycle: "Now drying...", with remaining time.

Washing with Undetected Liquid or Fresh IPA 99% in Both Chambers

Similar to the single-chamber scenario, if both chambers are empty or contain fresh IPA 99%, it is advised to run both wash cycles and the dry cycle. This process helps ensure IPA detection by exposing it to resin.

Process Flow:

  • Initial State: Shows "Refill" for both Reservoir 1 and Reservoir 2, with the warning message.
  • Washing Cycle 1: "Now washing...", with remaining time.
  • Washing Cycle 2: "Now washing...", with remaining time.
  • Drying Cycle: "Now drying...", with remaining time.

Washing with Enough Liquid in Both Chambers

When both chambers have sufficient liquid, the display will show the selected wash settings at the top and the ongoing wash process at the bottom, including the current stage (wash or dry) and the remaining time.

Process Flow:

  • Wash Stage: "Now washing...", with remaining time.
  • Dry Stage: "Now drying...", with remaining time.

After Wash is Completed

Upon successful completion of the wash cycle, a confirmation message will be displayed.

GUI Display:

  • A large thumbs-up icon ?.
  • Text: "Wash completed."
  • Button: "Continue".

Start Wash with Basket - Lid Check

If a user attempts to start a wash cycle using the basket but forgets to close the lid, the system will display a prompt before the wash begins.

GUI Display:

  • An icon showing a lid being closed ⬇️.
  • Text: "Close lid to continue."
  • Buttons: "Cancel".

Open Lid During Wash with Basket

If a user attempts to open the lid while a wash cycle with the basket is in progress, the system will immediately stop the process and display a message.

GUI Display:

  • An icon showing a lid being closed ⬇️.
  • Text: "Close lid to continue."
  • Buttons: "Cancel".

Removing Platform During Wash with Platform

If a user attempts to remove the platform while a wash cycle with the platform is in progress, the system will immediately shut down and display a message.

GUI Display:

  • An icon showing a platform being seated ⬇️.
  • Text: "Seat platform to continue."
  • Buttons: "Cancel".

Settings Menu

The wrench icon ⚙️ on the home screen navigates to the settings menu. Here, users can view the SprintRay logo, firmware version, and access options for "Force Drain" and "Transfer Liquid". The home icon ? returns the user to the main home screen.

GUI Display (Home Screen with Icons):

  • Icons: Wrench ⚙️, Basket ?, Platform ?, Home ?.
  • Cycle indicators and wash buttons.

GUI Display (Settings Menu):

  • SprintRay Logo.
  • Firmware Version 1.0.
  • Buttons: "Force Drain", "Transfer Liquid".

Force Drain

The "Force Drain" feature allows users to manually drain the wash chamber. This is useful if liquid was mistakenly added to the wash chamber instead of the liquid chambers, or if liquid remains in the chamber after a power interruption. This function ensures the wash chamber is empty.

GUI Display:

  • Navigation: Back arrow ⬅️, Title: "Force Drain".
  • Description: "This feature allows you to drain the wash chamber if liquid remains in the chamber due to an interruption in the cycle. The liquid will drain into chamber 1, so ensure you have adequate space in the chamber before starting."
  • Button: "Start Force Drain".

Transfer Liquid

The "Transfer Liquid" feature enables users to move liquid from one chamber to another, saving the manual effort of draining and pouring. Two options are available: transferring liquid from chamber 2 to 1, or from chamber 1 to 2.

GUI Display (Selection):

  • Option 1: "Transfer liquid from 2 to 1".
  • Option 2: "Transfer liquid from 1 to 2".

GUI Display (Confirmation - Example for 2 to 1):

  • Title: "Transfer Liquid"
  • Description: "Chamber 1 becomes saturated more quickly. Transferring from 2 to 1 helps conserve liquid."
  • Warning: "Transfer is about to start. Make sure destination chamber is fully drained and cleaned."
  • Buttons: "Cancel", "Start".

GUI Display (Confirmation - Example for 1 to 2):

  • Title: "Transfer Liquid"
  • Description: "Transfer liquid from 1 to 2."
  • Warning: "Transfer is about to start. Make sure destination chamber is fully drained and cleaned."
  • Buttons: "Cancel", "Start".
