Compatibility
Compatible with iPadOS 13 (and newer). For best performance, updating your iPadOS to 13.4.1 is recommended.
To check your iPad system version:
- Go to Settings > General > About > Software Version.
- Upgrade your version to iPadOS 13.4.1 or above to use the touchpad function correctly.
To upgrade your iPadOS to the latest version:
- Open your device's Settings > General > Software Update.
- Tap "Download and Install". If you see "Resume Download", tap that instead.
Setup
To pair with your iPad:
- Switch the ON/OFF switch to the ON position.
- The Bluetooth indicator light will start blinking. If it does not blink, press and hold the [Bluetooth Key] button for 3 seconds.
- Toggle Bluetooth ON in the iPad's Settings app. The device is connected when the Bluetooth indicator stops flashing.
- Tap 'Typecase Edge' under 'MY DEVICES' in the Bluetooth section of the Settings app.
- Tap the prompt in the pop-up window to confirm pairing.
Pairing is considered complete after the 'Connected' indicator appears.
When pairing to new devices, please repeat steps 1-3.
If your system is 13.3.1, please follow these steps to enable touchpad function:
- Go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch.
- Ensure the Assistive Touch option is turned On. Assistive Touch allows you to use your iPad if you have difficulty touching the screen or require an adaptive accessory.
Shortcut Map & Touchpad Function
Shortcut Keys:
Notice: Long Hold [Key] in any app to view available shortcuts.
Common Shortcuts:
- CMD + Tab = App switch
- CMD + A = Select all
- CMD + C = Copy
- CMD + V = Paste
- CMD + X = Cut
- CMD + Z = Undo
- CMD + Shift + 3 = Screen Shot
- FN + Space = Battery Remaining
- [Backlight Control] = Change backlight color (low, medium, high, off)
- FN + Del = Screen Lock/Unlock
- Option + Shift + 2 = €
- Option + 3 = £
- Long Hold [Key] = App-specific shortcuts appear (e.g., when in an app, hold this key to see all available shortcuts for that app).
Touchpad Function:
Notice: Make sure Bluetooth is connected and touchpad function is turned on!
One Finger Tap Mode
- Action 1: Tap once on the main interface. Function: Mouse cursor manipulation.
- Action 2: Tap twice and slide. Function: Select or move icons.
- Action 3: Tap twice when iPad is in sleeping mode. Function: Wake up iPad.
Two Fingers Tap Mode
- Action 4: Tap the pad once. Function: Show the shortcuts.
Two Fingers Scroll
- Action 5: Slide fingers up or down. Function: Scroll web pages or files up/down, or scroll split-screen views.
- Action 6: Slide fingers left or right. Function: Turn the page to the left or right.
Two Fingers Zoom
- Action 7: Two fingers slide for zooming in or out. Function: Can only be used on websites or spreadsheets.
Three Fingers Swipe
- Action 8: Swipe Up. Function: Switch between the main interface and the previous program or page.
- Action 9: Swipe Down. Function: Switch between the main interface and a split-screen view.
Other Touchpad Functions
- Shift + Cursor: Function: Select text.
- Move the cursor to the upper corner: Function: Enter the control center.
- Move the cursor to the bottom of the screen: Function: Access the dock to switch applications.
- Usage for Excel: Apply the cursor on one cell. Drag the cell to the right to make it wider. Drag the cell up or down to select multiple cells.
- In App Page: Touch and hold the left pad to drag app icons to rearrange them.
- In Edit Page: Touch and hold the left pad to select text and drag it around.
- Right Pad Touch: Touch and hold the right pad to show the app menu (similar to a right-click on a mouse) or to choose from shortcuts.
Installation and Removal
Installation: Gently attach the iPad to the case.
Removal: Pull up to remove the iPad from the case.
If you want to hold the iPad in the case, fold the case for easy carrying.
Charging
1. Switch on the keyboard. If the battery light is flashing, please charge the keyboard.
2. Plug the charging cable (included) into the keyboard and a power adapter (not included; an iPad or iPhone power adapter is recommended).
- Battery indicator turns red when the keyboard is charging.
- Battery indicator turns blue when charging is complete.
Troubleshooting
If the keyboard is not working correctly, please check the following:
- Ensure the Bluetooth function on the iPad (or other Bluetooth device) is enabled.
- Verify the Bluetooth keyboard is within 33 feet (10 meters).
- Confirm the Bluetooth keyboard is charged.
- Make sure the keyboard is turned on (the battery indicator is illuminated).
- Press the [Bluetooth Key] and check the Bluetooth status.
- Ensure a keyboard has already been paired via Bluetooth.
If you have unwanted auto-correction or punctuation, please follow these steps:
- Open Settings app > General > Keyboard > Hardware Keyboard.
- Toggle OFF Auto-Capitalization, Auto-Correction, and the "." shortcut.
If Bluetooth pairing fails, try the following steps:
- Remove all previously paired Bluetooth devices on your iPad.
- Switch off the Bluetooth function on your iPad.
- Reboot the iPad.
- Turn on the Bluetooth on your iPad.
- Switch the keyboard off and then on again.
- Repeat the pairing steps described on pages 2 and 3.
