Application Information

Preparation

Preparation is similar to normal good decorative practice.

  1. Put down dust sheets before work begins.
  2. Remove any loose material such as old paint, grease, dirt, mould or defective wallpaper.
  3. If mould is present, thoroughly clean the area using Dryzone® 100 Mould Sanitiser, whilst avoiding sanding the mould area to reduce spreading of spores.
  4. Allow to dry thoroughly.
  5. For glossy surfaces, lightly abrade the surface with abrasive paper, avoiding inhalation of dust and wearing suitable personal protective equipment (face mask, gloves, safety spectacles etc.).
  6. If necessary, apply an appropriate primer or sealer. This may be required for new, porous plaster, wooden surfaces or bare metal. Allow to dry thoroughly. New plasterwork should be allowed to dry for 7 – 14 days before applying any paint finish.

Mixing

Emulsion based paints – vinyl, silk or matt:

Add 100ml of Dryzone® Anti-Mould Additive to 5 litres. Blend the Dryzone® Anti-Mould Additive until fully dispersed, for at least 1 minute.

Solvent based paints – primer, undercoat or gloss:

Add 50ml of Dryzone® Anti-Mould Additive to 5 litres. Blend the Dryzone® Anti-Mould Additive until fully dispersed, for at least 1 minute.

Wallpaper paste and tile grout:

Add 100ml of Dryzone® Anti-Mould Additive to 5 litres. Blend the Dryzone® Anti-Mould Additive until fully dispersed, for at least 1 minute.

Application

Apply the paint, paste or grout in the normal way according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Do not overcoat the anti-mould finish (or wallpaper over it) as this will effectively seal in the mould resistant finish and allow the mould to grow back.

If an unfinished, textured wallpaper (blown vinyl, woodchip etc.) or similar is to be used, then it should be hung after the Dryzone® 100 Mould Sanitiser has fully dried. The wallpaper should then be coated with the anti-mould finish as above.

Other Information
